My overall experience was delicious. The only downfall was there hostess Hayley. She was very rude and didn't seem like she wanted to even work there. You would want your customers to feel good right when you walk through the door. She made it uncomfortable and pointed to our seat and didn't say anything to us. MAYBE say, "Your waiter will be right with you." She said Nada. But when our waiter came to us he made our experience great. The young man that did the refills kept my husband's water full... which is a big deal to him! Now to the food... They need a new recipe for the bread. Very dry. Bacon wrapped Scallops... YES! Just simply amazing. My husband's sizzling buttered Rib Eye was just perfect. Now... the bread pudding. TADA!! Grand Slam. Finished the night with a bang. Shrimp remoulade was good. Macaroni and cheese was just pasta and cheese. Crab au gratin was cheesy but had nice large pieces of crab meat. The fish de jour had an excellent sauce but was a very small portion. Overall, I left not feeling heavy, which is quite an accomplishment, but half of the meal was kind of plain. Also, waiter was kind of austere, but owner/ chef was cool. I was set back $120. It is a great place for folks who want good food, but don't want to journey to Irene's or Antoine's in the city. Haven't even had a chance to try it, called a little late today, Friday night at about 4:45pm just to see if we got lucky with a reservation for 7 adults and a baby. Well the guy who answered when I called laughed as he was looking to see, huffed under his breathe and said "I mean this is prime time" "you are calling late to make reservations for that many" first of all a simple no would have sufficed, I didn't know it was against the law to call to check and see. Won't EVER waste my time again with this place just bc of the rude man that answered! I mean a little customer service goes a long way. We went to Gallagher's to celebrate a birthday. The servers was ok but the experience of a servers was like a servers at Chimes. I don't expect a lot, but when you have a nicer place with $50 of the "best steaks".. I except a better experience then I would get at chimes. There should be better training for anyone that's to be out on the floor. Especially the bread guy and The lady that reserved our dinner that has bad phone manners. The food was good. Steak was tender but cooked more medium to medium-well when I asked for medium-rare, but Brussel sprouts were great! Ordered the New Orleans bread pudding and it was chewy/rubbery and the ice cream was frost bitten. Also had margaritas that were great. The business wasn't busy when we ordered. I finally got to go for the first time as a date night and the experience was outstanding. The service was top notch and the food even better. You cant go wrong with the steak! It was good medium rare to perfection and talk about a wonderful Dirty Martini! We left so full and happy I cant really wait to go again. My only feedback is I wish there was more parking. When you go on a busy weekend night it was a challenge to park. We had to park a block away and walk up but it was so worth it. read more

So many issues with this restaurant. Came here to celebrate my retirement and was disappointed on several levels. First - I ordered a ribeye steak cooked medium. It literally came out within 5 mins swimming in grease on a plate that is dangerously hot. In fact I burned my hand on it. Back to the steak - it was woefully under cooked, raw in the middle. So the waiter took it back and once again was back again in a matter of minutes with the same steak. When I asked if it was microwaved he assured me it was not. Even though the steak was medium it was pretty much ruined as was our evening. I was surprised they did not just start over with a new steak. The waiter had my steak comped which was the right thing to do. The manager did not even bother to come to the table and try to smooth things over - he put it all on the waiter. In my opinion that is an example of poor leadership. My second issue is the plates are too damn hot. Apparently they keep them heated to an unreasonable temperature so the steak is "sizzling" when it is served. I imagine I am not the only one that has come away with burned fingers. This restaurant seems to be more concerned with efficiency than quality. At this price point there are better options in my opinion. read more

Patrick made our night more spectacular!! My husband and I decided to go to Gallager's Grill Oct 4th for our 21st wedding anniversary. Our first time here and walking into the restaurant it was a wonderful atmosphere. Greeted by the host and sat at our table. Patrick (waiter) introduced himself and took charge. Really wonderful meal. Crab cake appetizer (blue cake special) were wonderful. Some of the best crab cakes I have ever eaten, as they had little breading and a lot of crabmeat. The crabmeat St. Francis was spectacular, and the oysters en brochette were very good. Had the quail which was quite good. My friend had the fish, which was spectacular. Creme brulee was fantastic--perfect really. Service was good, but not as good as the food. Sometimes had to wait a long time for the server to refill water, order. Had dinner on Saturday night; place was packed. We did appetizers-Trio, Eggplant Orleans, and Crabmeat St Francis, entrees-Pompano, Redfish, and Filet, sides-Potatoes Au Gratin, Asparagus w/Hollandaise, Seafood Mirliton, Corn Maque Choux, and dessert-Key Lime Pie to go. Everything was delicious and service was fantastic. What was the best thing I tasted among the foregoing list? I cannot believe it myself, but it was the Maque Choux. I typically like corn OK, so I have had this dish at many places, among them KPaul's and Prejean's. But Gallagher's version is the best I have ever eaten. Not sure about all ingredients, but saw small pieces of tomato and bell pepper. What made this so different was that it had either cream or whipping cream in it. The overall dish flavor was blended and just so delicious. You must order it if it is on the menu when you visit. While I highly recommend this restaurant, I must point out the Crabmeat St Francis is not like LeRuth's, as it is advertised. I had the wonderful pleasure of eating at LeRuth's and had this dish more than once there. There are recipes floating around which claim to be LeRuth's recipe. I doubt any are actually Warren's recipe and Gallagher's isn't either-too much bell pepper. read more

On Friday the 15th of Sept my wife and I ate here to celebrate our 31st anniversary. We had eaten here a few times before and were looking forward to a great meal. We started with a couple cocktails then the appetizer trio, all good so far. The for the soup and salad my wife enjoyed a spinach salad that was delicious however, my turtle soup was bitter seemed over cooked not the quality that I had expected having had it before. I told our waiter who was very gracious understanding and latter no charged it in the bill. Then for the main course we both ordered steak my wife a filet and I a ribeye. Her steak was fantastic mine not so much I regret not send it back! Half of it was grisly, eatable! The eatable side was seasoned great though. While my wife's meal was good we were disappointed that the overall food quality was extremely disappointing. We spent over $200 dollars for the meal/tip that ended up as a treat for our canine family. The wait staff was marvelous but I can't help thinking that when I brought the turtle soup up and the waiter told the kitchen that I got singled out for the poor poor cut of meat I was served. The food was wonderful, my fiancée and I both had steaks that were fantastic.The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The only thing I didn't like was having to modify some dishes to not have seafood since I'm allergic. Although they did accommodate my special need, I wish they had a few more items in appetizers, etc... That were for non-seafood eaters. It is pretty pricey but worth every penny!!! read more

We have always enjoyed Gallagher's Grill in the past. Never had a complaint. The food and service has always been outstanding until last night. First let me start by saying we made the reservation three weeks ahead. The lady on the phone asked me if it was a special occasion and I said yes it is our anniversary. When arriving they sat us at a table against the wall where the the waitstaff put the orders in. The waiters were buzzing all around us during the entire meal. Started with wine then we ordered appetizers. I had the crab cakes and before I was finished eating the appetizer they came out with our meal. They pushed my appetizer to the side and had little room to put the entree which was not in front of me. As I pushed my appetizer out of the way the plate was still very hot and I burned my hand. My Entree was the crispy redfish with crabmeat on the top. It was overcooked and I had a difficult time even cutting it with a knife. My husband had the bone in filet and it was excellent. We both agreed that mirliton casserole was good but the brussel sprout dish was tasteless. After the meal the waitress asked us if we wanted key lime pie to take home. I am guessing that was our complimentary dessert for our anniversary. We were there at this point less than an hour. It was obvious the waitress was rushing us. We declined the complimentary dessert and ordered the bread pudding to eat at our table instead. You would think spending $210.00 for 2 people you would not be rushed. We dine out quite often at high end restaurants both on the North and South Shore and have never been rushed through a meal. Most restaurants allow 2 hours for a table. Pat Gallagher was not at the restaurant that night as my husband may have mentioned this to him. He has always been very attentive to his customers. read more

Our first time here and we were very pleased. The customer service wasn't superbly amazing, however, our waiter was very attentive. The food on the other hand was AHHHMAZING! We tried a variety of dishes. First we had the seafood gumbo which was delicious. There was quite a bit of lump crab meat in it which I personally loved. Next I had a Caesar salad, sub Caesar dressing for Balsamic. It was very fresh and tasty. For my husband's meal he got a ribeye steak with potatoes au gratin a la carte. The waiter recommended loading the potatoes which we did and we were so happy we did! The potatoes with the cheese and bacon on top was to die for. The steak was seasoned perfectly and was hot and sizzling. My husband is a steak man which means we've been to quite a few steak places... He's placed this one at number one! I had the BBQ Shrimp and Grit Cake appetizer as my meal. The sauce and the actual shrimp were really good but I was not a fan of the grit cake. It was bland and I couldn't get around the texture of it. Overall though, that would be my only complaint in the food department. As a heads up, I've heard this place is very hard to get into on the weekends. Also even during the week at lunch time we were asked if we had a reservation. Before trying it out you may want to go ahead and place that reservation. As far as the ambiance goes, it reminds me a of a "fancy-casual" restaurant. Meaning it was a really nice feel to it and it is pretty "fancy", but I wouldn't say you need to dress up too much to come, although I wouldn't recommend flip flops and cut offs. I went to Gallagher's once. It was a Saturday night & the parking was horrible, had to park across the street. I was hoping this was an indication of how good it would be. The inside was very small/quaint and noisy, but it was decorated nicely & tables were set with white tablecloths. I ordered the grilled shrimp which was approx $18 or so for SIX shrimp, no side dish. I wasn't impressed. My date ordered the grilled stuffed chicken & asparagus, he put some on a small plate for me to try. The chicken was very good & the asparagus was as well...but nothing exceptional. If I ever go back to Gallagher's, I'd probably try the filet mingon. The people at the table next to us ordered steaks & they looked great (we were jealous!). Overall it was an ok experience...a little pricey. read more

Hubs and I went for our Anniversary. We did a mix of food to try out. Shrimp and Grits was AWESOME! Definitely recommend. Crab cakes were very good but need another texture. Cesar salad was not that great. Need more pepper or something. We got the fish of the day with a butter sauce. Fish was very good. Was great when you added the sauce from the grits to it. Yum! Very nice waiters, our glasses were always full. We were in a back room though and it was hard to hear due to a loud group of people. I would recommend this place. We weren't disappointed! read more

What can you say about Gallagher's that hasn't already been said? It was phenomenal from start to finish. The hostess was attractive, friendly, and accomodating, the server was on point from the initial greet, and the food and wine were excellent. Our order included the appetizer special bacon wrapped scallops served on a bed of artichokes and spinach. It was fantastic. We had a steak, including a bone-in ribeye, bone-in filet, and a petite filet. All were cooked to order, and the quality of the meat was the best on the northshore. The sides included the garlic mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. I would recommend Gallagher's to anyone not on a budget. With Gallagher's however, you get what you pay for and you do not feel cheated when you leave! This meal was top notch! read more
