Full disclosure, my wife and I moved here from Southern California so we've been spoiled when it comes to authentic Mexican, and at this point we've basically given up all hope of finding a decent, authentic Mexican restaurant out here. Our Margaritas were mostly mixer. Very weak. I had the enchiladas verdes and my wife had the chicken grande burrito. Our family recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it for lunch. We sat at the bar. This place is so attractively decorated and it's huge. So many areas for photo ops. Diego waited on us at the bar. Great bartender! The bar is huge and very comfortable. My skinny margs were one of the best. My husband was happy they had Michelob Ultra on draft. Queso was really good. We tried lettuce wrap shrimp tacos. Normally we can never get a great tasting taco. These were fantastic. Can't wait to return and try the steak lettuce wrap tacos too- as well as have more of the shrimp ones again. We had the street corn and shrimp cocktail. The food was good, but the biggest issue was made known the second I walked in: AI art. As a graphic design major, this was very disappointing to see and it immediately ruined the vibe of the restaurant. Even though the atmosphere was beautiful and colorful (pink flowers, fairy lights, etc.), the AI art completely disrupted it. It felt like finding a weed in a garden, better yet poison ivy. If this restaurant wants to have returning customers and have a good first impression on new customers, remove the AI art and support human artists--get a painting from Diego Rivera or Frida Kahlo. read more

The food I've been here twice isn't that great but today I came on a Saturday for lunch for just a little bite to eat so I ordered the sampler plate which was four small items with some beans and queso. This was our first visit to Casa Tequila and the atmosphere was so cute. I loved how spacious and spread out this place is. The chips and salsa were great! Margaritas - my husband and I ordered the frozen blackberry margarita, and my daughter ordered the lime margarita. We all ordered mediums. The medium is comparable to a small at other Mexican restaurants. The taste was good, but my daughter said the lime was way too tart and could barely finish it. So the margaritas overall were just ok. The food was decent, nothing outstanding, and if I'm being honest, a little bland. I had the enchiladas Don Juan which had 2 chicken and 2 steak, very generous portions! They were good overall. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm. Service was GREAT. Food was amazing, definitely one of the best Mexican food places I've ever had. The decor was beautiful. I have been to a place in NOLA that has similar decor, but the food was mediocre and double the price. You were paying more for the aesthetic. But this place? The aesthetic matches how the food tastes/quantity and price. I've never seen such great prices for shots at places decorated similar. I highly recommend and we will be returning! read more

As some reviews have pointed out, the decor is exceptional. In fact it looked more like a night club than a Mexican restaurant. We got seated immediately and it was Father's day so the place was packed. They brought a small basket of chips which disappeared quickly with 3 people. It took about 10 minutes to get more. It took 20 minutes to get served which I will not dwell on since the place was full. I got a Chimichanga with "steak " but it was in a word, terrible. Refried beans were like soup. Salad had a spoonful of sour cream and guacamole. One other person got shrimp and the third a pineapple Fajita. We got no alcoholic drinks and the check was about $80. I cannot comment on things I didn't order but i will not be going back. BTW I make a few Mexican dishes at home and mine are much better. Ok, so ambiance is cool. We walked in at 2:10. Ordered a sweet tea and Diet Coke.. Put food order in 2-ala carte tacos because there is no taco plate. Offered to order rice and beans ala carte. Ordered chicken fajita fries as entree rather than appetizer at 2:18. 2:30 waitress offered cheese dip on her for the wait. No one comes to the table for 50 minutes. Not to check in. No refills. 100% active avoidance. Lunch guest tells host we just want the check so we can leave. Food appears 3 minute later miraculously. Taco meat had a hint of salt. That's is all. Taco Bell across the street would have been more appetizing and satisfying. $4.00 each, rip off. The fries were interesting but an absolute mess. Not great but ok. Waitress finally checks in after we receive our food and we request a box and the bill at 3:28. Ran card at 3:32. Left a personal note on the back of merchant copy of receipt expressing the absolute disregard for quest service and overall experience. It's a shame because the place looks really nice. The overall view and ambiance of this place I will say is nice but their care for customers and quality of food isn't. My friends and I came here on Friday and were greatly disappointed. We were treated with very little care with having to ask for items multiple times in a row with not much response. As for quality of food, we ordered two large quesos and one chorizo which was served at lukewarm temperature. To top that of, what was supposed to be less than an hour being there soon turned into being there for close to two hours with no busyness whatsoever. This is the second Mexican restaurant in the area I'm leaving a review on. Charging premium price for mediocre Mexican food.... This was the driest toughest chicken I think I have had anywhere. Took two bites of the enchiladas and just had to pass. Typically I eat my food if I don't enjoy it but it was not edible in my opinion. Beer lines definitely need cleaning or they mixed up the Dos Equis with the modelo. I find it disappointing such simple dishes are falling so short. We went with friends today, January 4, 2026. Immediately seated in a booth. They were very busy at 12:15, but had great service and food was delicious! Anthony was very helpful in deciding what to order; was knowledgeable about the dishes and was very happy to get us refills of our drinks, bring us fresh chips and salsa. Prices were reasonable and portions sizes were very good; we all brought home some of our entrees. Love the decor, wasn't noisy considering the number the people in the restaurant.
