I've been here a few times way back and recent. I've watched free movie screenings here before and now I go here with a group of people and I still have great things to say about it. The bathrooms are always clean and there's so many they have alcohol you never have to wait for popcorn and they do have light bite/Food now as a Texan I know we should never say this, but it is too damn cold in that theater. And reading through the reviews, it seems like it will not change so make sure to bring a blanket not just a jacket. read more

Not a bad place to spend 100+ minutes on a hot summer day! They keep the theaters nice and cool, but not cold, and it's a relief to get out of the sun for a bit. It's on the smaller side which makes it less of a maze to find your particular theater and make it to your seat on time. There was even a reasonable amount of previews; only 15 minutes or so, and I swear most places have 20 - 30 minutes of preamble garbage at this point. The usher checking tickets even lets you know when the previews will end, in case you want to spend more time getting snacks or loitering in the lobby, stocked with a few basic arcade games to help pass the time. Comfortable chairs, clean floors, working recliners, and ample parking. What more could you ask for? I'm a fan and I'll be back! read more

Wanted to see this as I've read the book which was a page turner. A Yelp friend - Delores L. and I both read the book and wanted to the see the movie adaptation. Booked tickets two days in advance and the theater was empty with only a few other viewers. This place was a bit out of the way/hidden so using GPS is a must as I wouldn't have seen it. Movie started at 7, got into the theater closer to 7:10 after previews started and as mentioned, with no one in the theater, it wasn't a problem. Seats were comfortable and reclined which were nice. Ample leg room and walking room for each tier as well. Movie screen/sound were as anticipated. Didn't try any concessions although the popcorn always smells great. read more

It has been years since I have been to the Galaxy theatre. In fact, I got lost going to the theatre as thought it was in another location on Middlefiskville Road. Fortunately, Middlefiskville Road is a short street and I was able to find the theatre before previews started playing. My book club's discussion in January is The Housemaid, q psychological thriller by Freida McFadden. When speaking with a Yelp friend, we learned we both had read the book and decided to see the movie based on the book. The movie follows pretty closely to the book with some minor changes. The theatre was exactly how I remembered it to be. Galaxy is in a funky location...in a small strip mall west of IH35 near Burlington Coat Factory. We love Galaxy Theatres and not just because our dog won the grand prize in the Krypto contest they had. He seriously did. I love it because it seems like all of the employees are there out of a passion for film and entertainment. Everyone is genuinely happy and helpful. Though it's an older place, it's super clean! Even the bathrooms after a bunch of messy teens have been in it, lol. Reclining seats are showing wear and tear but provide primo comfort. Seating super clean and no junk left from the patron in the seat before you. Yummy treats at concession stand including adult bevvies. Amazing sound and video quality. A+! read more

Went to see Obsession the other day. This theater is cheaper tickets than most, so I was expecting outdated furniture and a little "vintage-y" feel. The staff was easy to interact with. The seats were easy to find. We had a good time. read more

There are not too many theaters in Northeast Austin, so this one feels like a hidden gem. Recently updated with wide, fully reclining seats, super comfy and every view is a good one. Plenty of parking, and even though it's in kind of an odd spot, it stays busy. Food is standard movie fare, but they also serve ICEEs, wine, beer, and cider. Restrooms? Usually clean... but learn from me and double-check the signs. I've accidentally used the men's room twice. Austin has me too used to all-gender restrooms. The looks on the guys' faces as I walked out tonight were priceless. OK visit to Galaxy on a weekend matinee with some friends and kiddos. They've got a few arcade games to play prior to the show, but expect most of them to not be working properly or just unplugged without any signage. It's a very dated space, but a few dollars will keep the young ones entertained! Solid selection of food/drinks, but expect premium pricing unless there's a special going on. Would likely visit again because there's plenty of parking and it's not incredibly crowded. But, if you're looking for newer amenities, this won't be your top option. read more

Comfy seats that have a good recline but seriously need some reupholstering. I like how these seats recline further back and are well padded but with the lights on they look like they like they should be at a junk yard. The theater I was in 1/2 the seating is dbox and the other half is not. The dbox seating is in the back half and the regular recline is in the front half. Popcorn was stale as usual in these multiplexes so might skip and save $10. They have icees which is always a treat. The theater is kept pretty clean and if you go midweek you might get the screen all to yourself. read more

My family spent $85 on tickets thinking we were getting seats like the pictures in the reviews. We couldn't have been more deceived. Just look at these seats, so disgusting. I understand basic wear and tear, but this is not worth the $85 we spent. Save your money or at least spend it where the seats aren't falling apart. read more

Movie was great! (Deadpool+Wolverine) Popcorn was old. The theater room was warm and we had to tell the staff to turn AC on. (Felt like it wasn't). The staff was arguing in front of us. The movies Hail Mary and Interstellar were showing in 70mm in different weeks. I was told that there might be technical difficulties because the equipment is somewhat old. The Hail Mary movie was fine, but the movie Interstellar had its problems. We were told that the print might show signs of aging, however in the last 45 minutes while the movie was showing it started to jitter like someone was shaking the projector. Not a lot, but just enough to make it a little uncomfortable while watching. Also, I did notice that the curtains on the left and right of the screen were not fully retracted and the images would show on the curtains. Whether that's a limitation on the curtains themselves or the screen is too wide for the curtains to be completely opened I don't know. One thing about the auditorium itself, I happened to see that many of the chairs were rather worn. Are these seats that old to show wear and tear like that? read more

The seats here are so comfortable and they recline. I didn't know that before arriving.  And, even sitting in the back row, the view of the screen is great. The theatre is clean and modern and has multiple screens. The concession stand will sell you the pre-requisite over-priced popcorn along with candy and cookies.  But you don't have to settle for soft drinks; beer and wine is available here too. There is a large parking lot, which was great, but it wasn't lit well-enough at night. Also, to note, tickets are purchased inside. The original ticket windows just have notices and the movie times in them. read more

Came here for a pre-release screening of A Million Miles Away (which I very highly recommend). But this review is of the theater. It's clean and modern looking. The staff were extremely friendly. The beer was cold (a full point of Electric Jellyfish Hazy IPA). The restrooms were clean. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and the lines were very short. In the theater, the aisles are spacious. There are no bad seats. Each seat has a table and drink holder, and a button that allows you to partially or fully recline. The sound was good. We were happy. I don't know that they offer the latest for cutting edge special effects movies like IMAX 3D, etc. But for most movies this place is perfect. And they also offer classic movie favorites at a great price mid-week, like The Terminator for just $5 :-) In short, this is my kind of theater. Not a place to have dinner. Not a noisy, over-crowded metroplex filled with large crowds and very long lines. There's no bowling alley here. No arcade or pool hall. It's just a really nice place to see a movie in a comfy chair, with some nice popcorn or snacks, coupled with a soda or an alcoholic beverage. Nice! read more

This is an OK theater. Not one of those modern ones that has special screen and audio options and also a big set of food and drinks options. It is a smaller theater with standard food options (popcorn, tenders, nachos etc) that gets the job done. Friendly staff. read more

Never been here before but got the chance to since we got some guest passes. Please to say i was very much impressed! It wasnt too busy so the theater was not full at all, and no complaint about that! The chairs there are so comfortable i almost fell asleep during my movie. They only have your usual movie snacks, not any full entree meals like other places do but thats okay! Nice and simple. Theater and lobby were very clean as well as the bathrooms. They do have a spot for food and drinks to sit on and a great sound system. This movie theatre is very underrated. To get the hot take out of the way, if you're a person that goes to a movie theatre for the food - why? You won't find any Alamo-level fare at Galaxy, but the entire concept of a restaurant theatre is flawed... I digress. You've got the classic snack options here, buttery popcorn, candy, soda. Can't go wrong with that! Check in on Yelp for a free mini popcorn! The seats are more comfortable than any other theatre chain I'm aware of (including any Alamo location I've been to). Rows are spaced appropriately apart, aisle walkways are wide, and the seats recline quite far. I'm comfortable watching a movie here. The staff are friendly, the theatres are clean. Tonight I enjoyed a Yelpelite Perk of watching an advanced screening of the movie Countdown. The movie is about a cellphone app that will predict the day of your death. The movie is highly predictable and is reminiscent of the Final Destination movie franchise. Based upon the ending of this movie, I am fairly certain it will follow the same path as that franchise if it gains momentum and buzz. I can not recommend seeing this in the theater. This is a film that (in my opinion) should be reserved for Netflix as it is not worth a premium movie price. You may have guessed that the 5 stars is not for the film, yet it is for the theater. The theater is immaculate and has comfortable seating that reclines all the way back. In addition, the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

We were here for a Yelp perk to see an advanced screening of Countdown. We have been to this theater before and wasn't impressed with it at all. We had stopped coming to this theater because of how rundown it was, wasn't the cleanest & the seating was so uncomfortable but now....I can recommend this place to watch a movie and grab some snacks at the concession stand. A lot of things have been upgraded & remodeled. The seats are now powered comfy recliners with a tray to hold your food and the drink slot to hold your drink. The hubby went and got us some popcorn and a drink and he stated that they were very nice with great service. I decided to try out a different movie theater and saw the positive reviews at Galaxy. I opted for the DBox seating thinking that it was just an upgraded recliner. It was a totally unexpected and fun(ny) experience once the seats started moving and we were immersed in the film. Depending on the level of action in the movie, it is worth the $25 ticket to have the added DBox component. There is an option to adjust or switch off the movement to your liking. The food options were much more limited than what I'm used to at a full service type location but Galaxy had the usual suspects: popcorn, Icee, candy, pretzel bites, etc. I visited on a Friday for a 6:30pm showing and I believe I saw a total of five other people. I'm sure it's not always like this but it felt very relaxed and spacious. read more
