Who goes to the movies anymore? With so many "on demand" movies you can watch from the comfort of your home, who needs to go out to the movies, i.e., Amazon Video, Netflix, HBO, etc.? Also, many people have large screen projectors or TVs in their home. I must say there is nothing like a theatre experience - freshly popped and buttered popcorn, movie candy (technically it is the same candy you can buy in a grocery or convenience store, but somehow tastes better at the movie theatre) and reclining and stadium style seating. This supernatural horror movie Sinners caught our attention. It has grossed $300M+ in sales worldwide and it does not hurt that Michael B. Jordon (eye candy) stars in the lead role, I have to be honest, the movie is a bit weird at times. However, our discussion afterwards highlighted many underlying themes - sins of a number of movie characters, racism, voodoo, family, resilience and the power and therapeutic nature of music. Regal Gateway also has a reward program for its members, which includes exclusive access to special deals such as 50% off popcorn on Tuesdays and 25% off candy on Mondays. Members earn points for their purchases made at the theatre when using their rewards account and can redeem points for concession stand items and movie tickets. Well, we did it! Went to the movie today and had an enjoyable time...

Stitch and I are ready!!

The Regal Gateway is an antiquated movie theater that severely needs a Kris Jenner facelift. The carpet patterns scream the 90s, there's no self-serve butter, the hotdogs weren't ready when we arrived (6:00 PM), and the electronic screens displaying the menus change too quickly. Overall, a hot mess, there's just no pizazz here. I'm not going to even dive into the pricing of concession items, because.. I don't need to state the obvious. I won four tickets to the prescreening of Lilo and Stitch (shoutout to the best CM, Tomas), and the process to check-in was easy. Just as the email from Yelp stated, "your seats are guaranteed for the event until 6:30 PM.. arrivals after 6:30 PM will be directed to the general admission line where seating is available on a first come, first serve basis". Y'all, they were not kidding!! The general admission line was insane! I spoke to one group and they stated they were waiting from 4:30 PM! If you ever get the opportunity for the next movie pre-screen experience, PRO-TIP: Arrive on the dot for those tickets! Though we weren't immediately allowed in once we checked in, we were able to snag the seats we wanted since we were near the top of the line. Note: For those who came late, copped a band, and hopped in the line as we were moving, SHAME ON YOU!!! Unfortunately, seats are not reclining and the space in between rows give a tight squeeze!

Excited to watch an advanced special screening of the newly remade Lilo & Stitch

I used to frequent this theater often years ago until other theaters upgraded their seating to stadium style seating. Sadly, Regal Gateway did not keep up and stayed with the old style of seating. During this visit, their front lobby area had no AC and most of their theaters were cordoned off with caution tape. I can only hope they're upgrading to stadium seats! It felt nice returning after all these years! Fingers crossed for their much needed modernization!

I had the opportunity to take my wife for the opening of Lilo and Stich at the Regal Gateway. The employees were very helpful herding all the people that were there to see the movie premiere everything was nice and orderly, the movie snacks were plentiful along with a comfortable setting. The movie was great, my wife is the Disney know it all, I was along for the show. Overall, we now have a theater that hadn't been to in the past, we'll be sure to keep them in mind for this summer.

This movie theatre desperately needs a remodel. I entered the viewing room and was instantly hit with a musky moldy smell. It's really super strong. The seats don't decline so are your typical sit up straight type. Don't come for a 2+ hour movie. The ticket prices are probably the cheapest around so I guess that's what you are paying for. I really think if you are just going to the movies every so often you are better off paying more somewhere else for a better quality and comfort.

The seats are uncomfortable to say the least. The place needs a deep clean and a remodel. Ticket prices are high.

Has this been upgraded to the power reclining seats other theaters have all had the past few years? Would love to come back as it's nice and close but would rather drive for more comfortable seating

They are the old school seats. Not recliners at all. I hear they are upgrading 1 theater to the 4D type. The Regal pass can't be beat. For just under $20.00 a month you can watch any movie any day as many times a day. I've seen 3 movie in one day,… Read more

It's always clean and the people working there are so nice and it makes a difference in the whole vibe of the place. They have a good drinks menu and food too. The recliners are comfortable, but they do run a little short. My feet hang off the end and I'm only 5'7". Thankfully they offer cozy blankets, which I love and definitely helps. Service is easy and convenient. You can push a button if you need something or just order from your phone without missing anything. The lobby is also a nice place to hang out before or after your movie with a full bar, a pool table, and plenty of family games to play. By the time I found my seat, the lights went out right as I settled in. From there, it was much harder than it needed to be to just order a cup of coffee. Three stars is for the design. I could not use my phone to scan the QR code to order the coffee because it was dark. I pressed the button and waited forever for someone to come and take my order. Then my friend arrived and went through the exact same thing. Even when I did finally get a menu on my phone, it was overcomplicated to order. Seems like something that should be easy by now. Considering the number of other theaters that do in seat ordering. I'd go back and perhaps have a better time now that I know the lay the land.

I purchased movie tickets through my account as a gift for my brother and his girlfriend to celebrate something special. When they arrived, they were stopped at the concession stand and accused of committing fraud because the tickets were purchased on someone else's account. To be clear, I bought the tickets myself and sent them to them. There was absolutely nothing fraudulent about it. The employee who confronted them handled the situation in a very aggressive and unnecessary way. As an A-List member, I've never been questioned or harassed like this at the front concession stand. It felt like the situation was blown completely out of proportion. Instead of focusing on real issues, my family members were put in an uncomfortable and embarrassing position over tickets that were legitimately purchased. They did speak with the manager, Miguel, who was polite and tried to help, and I appreciate that. However, the situation still wasn't fully resolved and the tickets were not refunded despite the negative experience. AMC needs to make sure employees understand that tickets purchased through an account can be shared with friends or family. Customers shouldn't be accused of fraud for using tickets that were legitimately purchased. This was very disappointing, especially as a loyal A-List member.

For theater setup, it's not stadium seating. But there is a subtle slope downwards. Lighting is a bit dark. I am concerned about everything I mention). I've checked out all of their competitors, and none of them have the variety of films that Alamo offers and their movie pass benefits are poor comparisons to what Alamo offers you. Nowhere else can you find Terror Tuesday or Weird Wednesday, or thematic movie series. These things are uniquely Alamo. These things, while I'm sure they must be nationwide, are very much Austin. Also, management with the Austin chain is very responsive when customers reach out with questions/concerns/complaints. This is unique customer service nowadays.

It was incredibly distracting with surrounding guests struggling to use this broken system through the movie. No longer can you interact with a human to order food. Food orders are driven by an online menu, which is not intuitive or easy to navigate, and does not allow sufficient customization. A guest next to me asked for a paper menu because she couldn't use the online menu. Her request was denied. Food delivery, by about half dozen people at my count, was problematic at best. We were delivered popcorn we didn't order. And when our actual food did begin to arrive, it was delivered to the wrong person consistently and came out in nonsense order. My first item delivered was a side of ketchup. Drinks didn't arrive for another 15 minutes. Food for my guests arrived well before mine. And my (hot) food was cold. Ten minutes into the actual movie, they realized they had never verified our tickets. And wanted to do that during tv movie - requiring opening the app. The new food trays swivel, which is nice. But when they filled up, nobody took away the empty containers. So we had to put food dishes in our lap or stack them precariously while trying to eat. This "new and improved" experience was not well thought out or well executed. And for the convenience of trying this failed experiment, Alamo kindly adds a mandatory 16% service fee and then "auto adds" another 5% unless you edit the bill - a fact that you're notified of (ironically) by text.
