    Cosy theatre.

I love this little theatre! As you walk in, there's an inviting lobby area with a small concession and box office. The theatre space itself, with 110 seats, feels intimate compared to say, the Zach. We chose seats in the middle, but every seat seems a good one, with full view of the stage and performers. Location? It's not visible from the street but kinda tucked all the way around back. No worries, though. They've made a great little video on how to get there: https://vimeo.com/28636486. And there's ample free parking once you do. We saw Penfold Theatre's "War of the Worlds" production last night and it was fabulous. Looking forward to our next show at Ground Floor Theatre, whatever it may be.

Came here to see Austin Deaf Theater's production of the Laramie Project. It's a nice performance space located in the back of a wear-house complex which houses a brewery and a cidery. They recommend using Waze to get directions and they have a very informative video how to find them. There's plenty of parking. Technically it's not on the ground floor you have to go up a small set of stairs since the warehouse is not built on ground level. There's also an accessible ramp for those that need it but there was sadly a palette partially blocking the entrance; I tried moving it but it was just heavy but if you are on a walker you could squeeze by it. The waiting area has a will call/box office to the back and a small concession stand. Sodas and snacks are reasonably priced and they also have adult beverages for a suggested donation. There is ample seating in the waiting area and art work on the wall to look at while waiting. The performance space is to the left. There's elevated seating. It's a good space and I found the acoustics to be pretty good and I would say that all the seats are pretty good as there's a space for a little over 100 people; very intimate. If there is a plane flying by or a thunderstorm you'll probably hear that too. Only one thing that you might have to prepare for is the restroom as it's not located nearby but in the complex and you will need a code. So a point off for that. If you have the opportunity please support the local arts in the city and watch a production here.

Really enjoyed seeing A War of the Worlds here! Haven't been to a live play since pre 2020 and it was such a great experience coming here. Love the storytelling, experience, representation and values of inclusion and empathy that this theater company has. Highly recommend coming here!

Ground Floor theater is a great place to see theater in Austin. I've seen work from at least three different groups here, and it's been excellent every time. The space frequently hosts new work! Located in a complex that includes Austin Bouldering Project and a couple of trendy bars, the theater is not immediately obvious, but Ground Floor emailed a map with my tickets that was easy to follow. The most recent show I saw at Ground Floor was Penfold Theatre's A War of the Worlds. You can read my review of the show here: https://sightlinesmag.org/penfold-theatres-a-war-of-the-worlds-reimagines-the-famed-radio-drama-and-probes-artistic-ethics There is plenty of parking. Most people wear something on the casual side, but others dress up if they want to make it a fancy night out.

Ground Floor Theatre is a personal space that welcomes the audience into the art. The theatre is a tucked away hidden gem. Ground Floor Theatre reminds this city that Austin is still a community of the arts and the weird. Friendly staff in an accommodating atmosphere makes this venue accessible for young and old. Concessions were vast and inexpensive and proceeds go directly to the theatre so I highly encourage tipping! I cannot wait to see what the upcoming season brings for this theatre.

Quirky and independent, the Ground Floor Theatre (GFT) is the perfect kind of place for a city like Austin. Went here to see a similarly quirky kind of entertainment - the awesome 'Acro-cats' and was not disappointed in the theatre's climate control or its reasonably good seating. This is a small venue, so I doubt there's much in the way of bad seats anywhere you go. GFT is in a slowly gentrifying section of Austin, sharing space with an organic grocery store, a brewery, a rock-climbing hangout, and a sculpture showroom masquerading as a gas station. It can be a tricky place to find, so before leaving I strongly suggest that you view their little video on how to get there. (Link below.) Then kick back and enjoy Austin at its strangest! https://youtu.be/sS0geC0YcAs

Upon our visit we were safely greeted by an honorable guard, received words of wisdom from a whimsical wizard, tasted the most divine of brews (as a wizard myself, I personally quite enjoyed the fog cloud), gathered up escaped beasties that had hidden themselves across the grounds, and had the loveliest conversations with the elves taking care of the place. We had such a lovely time there, and fellow friends and adventures, let me tell you, this was a *quiet* night at the Tiny Minotaur. Parking: Awful, gotta roll the dice on the neighborhoods nearby. Thankfully not too many blocked off streets. Almost like a hidden secret of South Austin! We went with a group of 13 guys, half in Ren Faire costume, for their monthly night market evening. You're welcomed at the door by a very enthusiastic orc and should come prepared to show ID. Check-in was seamless with their emailed order. The venue itself is small and could practically be someone's home. Karaoke was an offshoot room that fit only about 10 people. It's a lot more spacious in the back than it seems, opening up to plenty of seating where groups were seen chatting or playing tabletop games. There weren't many vendors but a great wizard was there giving away little fortunes that was very wholesome. Overall, great spot for a date or for one of their themed nights. I'd definitely come back with a group.

He does a family friendly show so there were a lot of people there with kids, Full families, moms, dads, grandparents. We were one of the few without kids. The staff was very friendly at the entrance, the bar, and when seating. The place is pretty big and has upstairs and downstairs seating as well as a bar on several levels. Two points that did bring the visit a little down. The seating, you are packed in like sardines. No room to stretch even a little, you bump against the stranger next to you or them into you. It is almost worse then an airplane. Two no handrails on several stairs which are also uneven. I have some ongoing spine and foot pain and it caused me issues but I saw several other people struggling and one almost falling themselves. Had it been just me or maybe one other person that would be bad enough but as several people struggled that is a huge safety issue and should be fixed. The ushers helped when they could but sometimes they were helping others and didn't see it happen. Still it was a fun time, if a bit cramped. The staff is great and I love the history but that also means it is very outdated and not very comfy to sit for an hour or more, especially with no intermission.
