Things still aren't looking great. They gave us 24 inch cabinets instead of 1 inch cabinets, and now we have to make sure our ceiling fan is off or it dents the cabinet door. They have ignored my request to fix this. They did not vent externally. They vented to the attick even though we laid for external venting. Venting a kitchen to an attick is a fire hazard. There were things that were half done or never completed. They are supposed to be coming monday, 8/20/18 for the improvements but never told me what time. I have emailed multiple times asking what time they are coming because i have crohns and an appointment at an infusion clinic on Monday- they obviously never emailed back and don't care to answer. HORRIBLE -- NEVER AGAIN! We contracted Galaxie to redo our guest bathroom (very small space). It was supposed to take 7-10 days...it took 6 weeks and we ended up doing part ourselves because we were so unhappy. Crooked tile, holes in the wall, a leaking sink, and screwed up electricity...this is what we what we were left with to fix on our own. I provided a list of all of the issues that we encountered and was told we would be contacted by a vice president....guess what never happened. On top of that, we weren't supposed to pay the final amount until we were happy -- my last discussion with the project manager was that our sink was still leaking (which I ended up fixing on my own). Still they took the final payment minus $200. I guess that is what they figured would cover all of the issues we had -- they were wrong. We will never use Galaxie again and we've told all of our friends and family the same. We've also told our realtor friends so that they can warn their clients. We don't want anyone to go through what we went through. read more

Sick and tired that Hector and his team come over into our house and do NOTHING the way it should be, don't care about clients personal time, lost the customers equipment (the pliers), very rude and can't finish the project since last summer... Is this turning into my worst nightmare?... Project slowed to a halt.. very limited response to daily calls/emails. Come to discover employees sent home and apparently company in financial distress. Crews not paid from work done in December. Not a good omen.. What a mess! 7-20*** waiting for update next week*** owner- Bruce Pinsler- appears to be working through this and contacting all current jobs. Will give him credit for this. Being ever so slightly hopeful! 7/25 ** Update** Bruce Pinsler filed for Bankruptcy. Galaxie is out of business. Like others have stated, it's a nightmare. Signed a contract in February for bathroom and kitchen remodel, it is now the end of August and our bathroom isn't 100% finished. I have to use a screwdriver to turn on the faucet because Galaxie ordered the wrong part to fix what they installed improperly to begin with. Almost had to call the police on the one guy who was working on this bathroom. They used personal property without permission to "complete" their work. Btw they haven't touched the kitchen yet. If I could give a lower rating I would! Been a total mess from the beginning! They took our deposit and "forgot" to order our cabinets and refused to give us our total deposit back even though they had not ordered anything yet. So we were forced to continue the job or eat $5000. When cabinets came in the doors were all chipped, warped and terrible finish. Three times to get that acceptable ( poor quality). The ceramic tile that was installed continues to loosen and grout breaking apart (6 times trying to repair and still not staying down!). The floor unfortunately runs through kitchen, dining room , foyer and laundry so half the house is still basically a construction zone. The original timeline was to be finished by Thanksgiving 2017. Most was installed just before Christmas of 2017 except the floor is still ongoing. Galaxie doesn't consider the expense of ordering take out ( can't walk on the floor every time they attempt to fix) and cleaning all the fine grout that they grind out that covers everything ( dishes, glasses, counters, floors, gets in air ducts that grit goes throughout the whole house!). Galaxie is very difficult in returning phone calls and nobody with any authority to make decisions will ever call you back. Asked numerous times to speak with the owner to no avail. We were told all workers were employees but found out they are subcontractors ( the crew we had were subs). This has our home life in uproar for almost a year ( in Sept 2018) with no end in site. First of all, I wish I had read these reviews before hiring them! Second of all would not have even considered them if they were not suggested by Home Advisors! I think I know where part of my money went....it went to Home Advisors to promote them. I do have to say the Designer/Sales Person who came out was very very good. However, the minute she had your signature you were turned over to dumb and dumber. We scheduled our job far out, they supposedly had all the materials. Then chaos ensued. Apparently everyone takes vacations at the same time. Workers came out not having a clue what the project entailed. What was suppose to be a three day project is turning into a nightmare. Evidently a window was not ordered, or was ordered incorrectly and is now delaying the completion on this small project. So we sit with a unusable bathroom. I can't understand how they are even in business as their communication and customer service are deplorable. Can't wait for them to finish up and leave. Plus, watch out for the extras they'll tag on! Can I give 0 stars? I spent two years with a steam shower that leaked every time you used it and the water ran into the mud room on the first floor. They had no clue what they were doing. Everything they provided for the bathroom remodel was junk and falling apart within two years. The shower, they sent one man with no instructions to install it and he destroyed it. Don't believe any good reviews you see. After you pay them they hold your release of lien hostage until you give them a good review. Ok , where do I start.... WE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AND HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I'm not sure if they are under "new" management now as it has been a few years ... but the sub contractors Galaxie hired did the minimum amount of work they could and I believe they were doing multiple jobs and using supplies we paid for for other jobs. I could have done the job in a week or 2 tops and they dragged it on for 2 months, many times just not showing up at all after I took off, or left work early when they were suppose to be working on my remodel . They didn't fix the leak coming from our bath tub which was the whole reason we needed to remodel and decided to get new everything in the first place. The price was not cheap and we expected a good job but got the Opposite. After they took the tile off the shower I noticed black mold on the insulation in the walls and I asked if they were going to replace and they said it was not part of the job they were hired to do. I said I would pay for it , if they would just replace it and they said ok . They never did and I ended up replacing it myself after I got tired of it sitting there. Then one of the worker fell through our ceiling and left a big hole in our kitchen , he said he would come back and fix it but after the job was done they would not return our calls , neither would Galaxie. I tried to get a hold of the project manager and after no response for 2 weeks I finally got a call back saying he was no longer with the company. I also believe the workers stole a burner from our stove as it just disappeared one day after they were at my house... then the toilet they replaced started leaking , I'm sure they just threw the new one on and didn't bother to check if it was sealed. Soo.. after everything was finished and I was happy they just finished the project ... not knowing the problems were not fixed... I was told they would pick up the old toilets and tub the next day, I said no problem and just kept them in my garage. It took 2 to 3 weeks of me calling to finally get them to come back and pick them up!! If I could rate a ZERO I would, what a horrible experience .. if I know what I was in for I could have paid 1/4 the price and done it myself and actually but some care into the work or paid someone who actually was going to do a respectable job. Overall , I would tell anyone that is thinking about using Galaxie to AVOID AT ALL COSTS.. your better hiring a local handyman / woman that takes pride in their work. You can buy your own supply's and pay them well and still save at least 1/2 what Galaxie charges. For instance , I was charged $200 for a toilet that is probably $100 and since they buy in bulk they probably got for $80 or less. SAVE YOUR MONEY , DON'T CALL GALAXIE read more

Simply stated....HORRIBLE experience! We hired Galaxie to remodel our master bathroom and build a walk-in closet. Our first sign of trouble was obtaining a permit. They tried everything in their power to dissuade us from doing the job under a permit. They stated that none of their clients obtain them and that it wasn't necessary. We insisted and we are glad we did! Literally within 2 weeks of signing the contract and post gutting of our bathroom, the problems began. Upon inspection of the plumbing and electrical work, they failed the plumbing. The sub-contracted plumber didn't use the right size pipes and blew up our water heater! (not because of the pipes but for failing to re-fill our electrical tank before restarting) We had to hire our own plumber to come in a fix the issue. Here comes the second inspection, fail again. Although this one was not their fault, they said that they could fix it. When we inquired as to why it was taking them so long to resolve the issue, they stated that they were looking for a resolution that didn't involve a plumber. WHAT? We booted them off of that fix and again hired our own. Upon completion of that fix, we had to bug the crap out of Galaxie to get the team back on the job. Now we realized that we had to micro-manage the ship of idiots. In comes the hard working sub-contractors to do the tile. Excellent job! Our delight over the tile work was quickly extinguished when the Galaxie guy comes back in to install the bathroom fixtures. He installs the wrong valve that goes with the fixture and here we are again without hot water! Our plumbers come to the rescue to discover that the valve was wrong and was causing the hot/cold water to mix. I can't make this shit up. The guy actually attempted to blame us!! We now told them that they are off any plumbing work. It should be noted that while this is all going on, the finance company calls us to release funds to Galaxie. We told them no!! There was no way in hell that we are signing any documents to release funds until these guys are done. The woman in the Galaxie office called the finance company around us to get the funds released. When the funding company called us to tell us this, I asked them to stop payment. To their credit, they did. Back to the job from hell....We signed this contract in February and was told it would be completed in 4 weeks easily. It is now the end of August. Brutal! We would not recommend this company to anyone that wants quality work/honesty and competent contractors. As for any attempt by management to have me remove this review as has been done to others leaving similar reviews, save yourself some time. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! read more

My neighbors were going to have their kitchen redone. I was waiting to see his project before I scheduled mine and I'm glad I did. Their project never happened. Galaxie could never be reached to schedule their project even after he gave a $15,000 down payment. Finally, after many calls, they reached Galaxie. They came to an agreement for some additional work, since my neighbor had this problem with the company. It was in writing. A few days later, my neighbors were told by Galaxie that Galaxie was cancelling his project and NOT returning his money (even though Galaxie was the one who cancelled). This company is a scam, a disaster....stay away from them if you are smart !!! read more

Here is an update to my original review. It is in direct response to the owners recent message to me to remove my original review. Steve, I completely understand Galaxie Home Remodeling is under new ownership (and has been for a couple of years) however you still have AWFUL service and are complete liars. Unless your company is under new ownership in the last week than your statement is completely false. The entire staff I worked with from Jennifer R., Cheryl R., Kim B., Lynda O., and Dan L. were all so difficult to work with. No one had answers and everyone passed the blame to each other for lack of progress, miscommunication, wrong ordered parts and misquotes. The only person who had any decency or credibility was Leticia M. and even she was just stuck in the middle of dealing with all the incompetent people that she had limited ability to help. I was recently contacted by Danielle W. (as recent as 7 days ago!) about an outstanding balance for my project even after I have in writing that my balance had been paid in full (back in May) and they are threatening to put a lean on my property. Your staff is so awful and unorganized I can't even believe I am receiving threats at this point after the disastrous project I had with you. I have paid your company over $50k and from start to finish the entire process was a mess. I would NEVER recommend your company to anyone. It was your current company I was reviewing and I still stand behind all of my original comments. In fact, I'm happy to write an update of exactly what has happened since my original post back in March and if I keep hearing threats from your accounting department than I will also be filing a BBB complaint. BE AWARE: This company lacks integrity! We decided to use Galaxie due to their supposed "positive" reviews. After working with this company, we strongly felt the need to share our story, hopefully, to prevent anyone else from having to experience what we have. Deciding to use this company to remodel my parents bathrooms has been nothing short of a nightmare!! It has been over a year and they have yet to complete the work to our satisfaction. They've had to come back over 10 + times to fix leaks, simple mistakes, etc. Customer service is nice but completely useless. They don't ever let you speak to anyone and promise to have managers call you back and they never do. I can tell you from experience, (unfortunately), they use all 3rd party contractors to do their work (not even sure if they are licensed) and they both blame each other when a problem arises. The contractor then insists on being paid even though the job is not done. We've tried to have patience, We've tried to be nice. We've tried to be understanding. After forking out over $30,000, they have forced us to seek legal action since they refuse to come and fix a problem that arose from their work. Now it makes sense why they keep having to change names of their company and are so difficult to find. If you want to keep your patience and sanity, I suggest you look to another company to do ANY sort of projects. read more

If you are considering these people, run and run fast in the other direction! The salesman was all friendly and cooperative and then the nightmare started. They changed project managers on me 2 times until the last one was fired and the final project was never "run through". They charged me up charges in spite of my having told the salesman, the man who came to measure, the head worker and both project managers exactly what I wanted. All they had to do for the one wall was to duplicate the wall in the other bathroom just 2 feet away. They mis-measured the filler piece putting the vanity so close to the toilet that it is probably not up-to-code. The tile was not cut to the floor and they didn't even caulk it to look like it was finished. The brackets that needed to be installed prior to the counter top being installed were not so they drilled them into the newly set tile after telling me that the granite people would put in the brackets - they do not and claim they never do this, that it is up to the contractor. They chipped the tile on the side of the toilet but installed it anyway - did not discover it until the floor was vacuumed and washed by the cleaning lady the following day. Every five minutes they were asking me questions and then weren't listening to what I asked for. The sub-contractor had nothing but bad things to say about Galaxie at every turn. And they ran over 2 weeks after promising it would be a quick 2 week project. Our Master Bath is only 8' by 58" so it is not a huge project. We have grout left on most of shower floor tile which I have no idea how to remove. The project was finally done mid-May and the caulk around the floor drain has already come off... Yes I did sign-off on the final payment but only because I wanted the nightmare to end!!! I should have hired my own sub-contractors instead but I thought having it all done by one company would be easier. Boy was I wrong! Can I give them a -0 rating? read more

Worst experience ever! We hired Galaxie Home to gut and remodel our bathroom. Not only could they not put on the faucet to the shower correctly, or fix the temperature problem with having lukewarm water, they were incredibly messy with paint all over the brand new floor which took me hours to clean up. They actually put the shower knob to turn on the faucet on incorrectly, so that it spun round and round, and while fixing it, they forgot to turn off the water so we had a huge rush of water leaking through my kitchen ceiling. They did end up replacing that portion of the ceiling but it needs to be repainted because it is not the same color white. However, in fixing it, it cause the water to only come out slightly warm, so my kids refused to use the shower. We brought it up with the plumber a number of times, and he said that there was some ordinance about water that was too hot, however the water was not hot at all. Then he said he would look up how to fix it, but never did. In the meantime, we got tired of the kids using our shower so my husband ended up YouTubing how to fix it and did it himself. There are so many things that happened that were not right during this project that I cannot even get into it all, however, the worst of it being that the bathroom has been slowly leaking into my family room since they finished the project in December, and they refuse to call me back and fix it. I called the original supervisor of the project, who came out and cut a hole in the ceiling. He said he was a certified plumber, but was very confused about why it was leaking. He said he had other projects and left stating he would come back. Getting him out to the house took weeks,as he stated that he was on other projects "out of town," and when he came back each time, he would look at it again seeming confused. One such time he took the baseboard off the floor in the bathroom to see if he could see where the leak was coming from and when he couldn't find it, he left again stating he would come back. The baseboard is still off. He came back several weeks later and sprayed some black substance on the pipe in the ceiling and said he would come back out to repair the ceiling if it stopped leaking, or he would open the wall and replace the pipe. Well, he didn't show up the day he was to do this work and has refused to call me back. He has not returned my texts since the beginning of April. I contacted the company several times through calls and emails, but they do not call me back. We have called the original sales person as well. I still have a gaping hole in my family room ceiling with water stains all around it and no resolution. I have contacted the better business bureau today, but I want to warn everyone to NEVER use this company. What a disaster! read more

We had a half bath completely redone a little over a year ago and it's really been one thing after another that I realise was done poorly. For example, the grout has always been uneven in color and now starting to crack in places. The tiles themselves are not level with each other. While they were installing everything, I had to constantly monitor them just to make sure they did everything that we were paying for in our contract, and they still seemed unprepared to complete the job 100% (e.g., caulking around toilet, installing threshold transition piece for flooring...which they didn't actually do they just set it in place and didn't secure it to anything). read more

We had our bathroom remodeled 2 years ago and had an issue with the toilet 8 months later (made a nasty mess on our basement ceiling) Now a year later after nearly finishing our basement I noticed that the bolts on the toilet were not fully tightened! The best part is, it looks like the wax ring started leaking and one of the bolts isn't even attached to the floor anymore. It was a really, really bad decision for me to contract with this company... I contracted w/ them on 9/26 for kitchen countertop replacement and master bathroom remodel. In an effort to save cost, the sales person offered me suggestions for online purchases (which really just lowers the amount you pay them, I suppose). She guided me on the specific bathtub and parts I needed to order to ensure no delays or issues. They told me they took measurements in October and ordered my parts. Four weeks went by, I heard nothing until a new person called to say THEY were my new project manager. I was told "someone dropped the ball" and no one even bothered to order my parts yet. Oh, and because they waited so long, now my floor was out of stock so I picked another one sight unseen and the work finally kicked off 4 weeks behind schedule on 11/15. I stopped by to check the progress, and found the work crew just left their garbage everywhere in my house. Half-eaten food left sitting out on furniture, cans and empty toilet paper rolls everywhere. It was disgusting, shows you what they do to your house when you're not there? I also found they had jacked up the thermostat and just left it that way ... I took photographs and spent an hour cleaning up their gross garbage. When I stopped by a week later, and found they had done it all again, I felt violated, disrespected, and totally offended. My house was just a big garbage can to them, they didn't care. And yet I still didn't want to say anything, because I was afraid that the crew or company would retaliate ... they weren't done with the work yet, and I didn't want to be on the receiving end of their work once they heard I complained about them. Then four weeks went by and I got a call from a project manager #3 and now HE was going to be in charge of my project. The first thing he did was tell me that he sat on my project for four weeks and forgot about it. Nobody measured the countertops, nothing was ordered. Then he started asking me questions that you would think they already know (like how far I wanted the countertops to overhang). If you love excuses without results, this guy is your kind of guy! So, I shared with him the photos of the garbage and voiced my concerns. He said it would get addressed, and that's when the problems really started to happen. First, they called me to tell me they threw out my garbage disposal. They went and bought a cheaper one, then did a terrible job sealing it - most of it already peeled away in the first few days. Then, they left the kitchen unfinished ... counters were placed on the cabinets, but they never bothered to seal or paint anything, it looked terrible. I found brown smudges on several of my lightswitch plates (who are we kidding, it is probably fecal matter so they can show me what they think of me lol). They called to collect payment and said they were done. I raised a question about the counters and when I asked whether I should be paying in full for incomplete work? They didn't answer my question, and instead told me in no uncertain terms that they would send me to collections. That was like two weeks ago and I haven't heard from them since. I contacted the BBB the next day and filed a complaint, saying the company basically ghosted me and won't finish the work. This is where it gets really shady. First, they ignored the BBB and never responded to them. Then they ran the final charge on a card I didn't know they had and definitely did not give them permission to use. Still never called me back, never responded to BBB. Took my money, left the work incomplete, errors and incompetence throughout, and punished me when I raised concerns and questions. THE WORST! Terrible customer service, I would look elsewhere. Had a whole house of windows (16) those were installed in a timely manner 2 1/2 weeks as the windows were custom ordered. The windows are decent and were installed somewhat decent, but rather sloppy caulking. I'll wait until winter time to see what lifetime warranty means.Also had some countertops and a kitchen backsplash to be installed. We had to beg them to get the countertops and back splash done. Finally 3 months later they finished and you can surely tell how much of a hurry the installer was by the back splash. One of their guys...Crooked tiles, the ends just have a grout line and look unfinished. I should have just did it myself! And of course oh yeah we will give you Cubs/Sox tickets, not so sure I will ever see those....You have been warned .....DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

I had them remove what was left of our old carpet runner and replace it with a new one that I had prepared by FCA in Naperville. The crew painstakenly removed all of the old staples and did a great job installing the new runner. I recommend them. read more

Do not trust these people. Feb 1st start date turned into May start date. No one contacted us about delay we had to call them. Didn't want us to get a permit we insisted, April came and we called Galaxie and they told us job was delayed for pending permit called village and they said "No permit requested for our address. Called Galaxie and they said pending in our office!!! If you want cost overruns and lies go to Galaxie in Bellwood Illinois. Complaints BBB gives them a B- and numerous complaints on yelp! Last they sent us wrong tile and told us it was the same we ordered, it wasn't We fired them. And now they want us to pay more. read more

Our kitchen finally got done. It took 8 months. But Galaxie acknowledged the problems and, in the end, stepped up. The kitchen looks great.

If there were a zero star option I would use it. Review of Galaxie Home Remodeling of Chicago and Seattle. (https://www.galaxiehome.com/) I will address the two key questions right off the bat: (1) would I use Galaxie again, and (2) would I refer Galaxie to any of my friends? The answer to both questions is never. Not ever. I cannot say enough negative things about this company. We hired Galaxie to do a master bedroom and bathroom project in our single family house in Chicago. The contract was executed in December of 2016 and work stated on February 15, 2017. As of October 22, 2017 (over 9 months after starting demolition) the project has still not been completed. The work has been sloppy and of very poor quality and the crews have been even sloppier. Construction debris has been left on our porch and in our backyard for weeks at a time while several requests were made to remove it. Mortar mix dumped on our lawn killing grass repeatedly. The job site was consistently littered with garbage, soda bottles and cups, and construction waste. The quality of the work has been horrific. Drywall bowing and not secured to walls, inch wide gaps between door and window trim and the wall, tiles not level, incorrect electrical boxes installed, radiator plumbing incorrectly installed, vanity top not cut the correct size and our vanity destroyed in the installation process, new trim not installed flush with the wall, old trim and doors not properly prepared to be painted so that stain underneath bled through, radiator plumbing not properly set up such that we had to pull up tiles and hire a separate HVAC company to come in and fix it, interior doors incorrectly ordered. On and on. I also cannot begin to describe what a customer service nightmare it has been to work with Galaxie. Our project involved converting a small bedroom into a master bath and closet. Plumbing had already been roughed into the room from a prior project. This was one of the rare renovation projects where there were almost no significant surprises after demolition. Yet from the outset it became very clear that Galaxie was in way over their heads and did not have the competence and basic skill to handle the job. What ensued was a case study in abysmal customer service. The foreman blamed Galaxie for not providing him with or adequately paying him for the full job specs while Galaxie denied there were any contractual issues and blamed the foreman, effectively putting us in the middle. This went on for several months with minimal progress being made. Galaxie continually assure that things would improve but they never did. They would constantly tell us workers were going to should up and they didn't. To make matters worse, the crew began doing things out of sequence so as to keep the appearance that things were moving until they could resolve their issues with Galaxie. This led to things like drywall going up before framing or electric was complete. In many cases this caused several downstream issues or simply slowed progress by requiring multiple visits from different trades. We had a very large window order that was also completely mishandled by Galaxie. At the outset we had provided Galaxie with the exact window specifications for the Marvin windows installed elsewhere in our home yet somehow they still managed to screw it up. Ultimately I ended up going to the window supplier directly and hiring a separate company to install the windows. That set us back 10 weeks. During all of the above, one would have expected the owner of the business (Steve Dezara) or someone from senior management to call us along the way and offer an apology. We never heard from the owner until we demanded a face to face meeting in May and finally received that in September. He came to our house, surveyed the job site and assured us things would get back on track. Of course they did not. In fact, they got worse. Galaxie finally showed about again in the middle of October 2017 to fix the poor work and handle the punch list items, assuring us that would take two days. When they dropped replacement tile off, it was the wrong tile. And they apparently dropped the tile on the floor cracking three more tiles in the process. When they pulled those tiles up to replace them they damaged the electric radiant heat under the floor. At this point it appears they are intentionally damaging our house and as such will no longer be working here unsupervised. read more

We hired Galaxie for a kitchen and bath remodel. There were issues and concerns from the beginning. They were limited in their choices and selections. They do not have a showroom where you could look at the cabinets...only door front samples. We gave them a 1/3 down payment on the initial signing, another upon start of work and another when measured for the countertops. After the initial payment, we never heard about a projected start date. Eventually, we called and was quickly given a start date. Our job was subcontracted to a construction crew. The manager of the crew spoke some English but was not usually present with the rest of the crew so we could not communicate with them if there was a problem. He would give the crew instructions and then leave to go to another job site. The crew arrived and began demolition of both kitchen and bath; the toilet was left in place. Cabinetry was supposed to arrive on the second day but were told it would be delayed to the end of the first week (Friday). I called that morning to confirm delivery time and they said it would be in the afternoon. The truck arrived but only had the bathroom vanity and a wall mount cabinet with 2 wood doors and no mirror. The field supervisor then took it to a shop to remove the wooden raised panels and insert mirrors to serve as our main bathroom mirror with two wooden stiles down the center. We rejected this and bought our own wall mirror from Menards. We called the office to ask about the rest of the cabinets. At the end of the day, they called and said the delivery truck was in an accident and all of our cabinets were destroyed so all new cabinets had to be made. We did not believe their story and later confirmed that there was no accident, rather Galaxie had forgotten to order them. Galaxie decided to send the crew out and begin demolition knowing that the cabinets were not going to be ready in time. Tnhis necessitated pulling the crew off of our project and sending them off to start other projects while the cabinets were being made. From that point forward, we were always being fit in around other ongoing projects. We never new from day to day whether or not the crew was coming (we would try to ask them at the end of the day and they could never say for sure). We had several days where the crew was a no show and many times would not arrive until late in the afternoon. On one occasion, they arrived just before we returned from the store. A smaller final payment was due on the last day of work per contract which as to be collected at final walk-through by the field supervisor. The office said they were short-handed and to pay the crew manager. We agreed to this on the premise that a final walk-through would be done as indicated in the contract. We had to call a few times to make this happen. When he did come, he spent a couple hours going over all the problems and shoddy work. This included baseboard work and moulding that was not completed. The sink drain was mounted inproperly and needed to be removed and re-mounted. They forgot to slide the faucet hose through the slip weight so they attached it with a bread tie instead of disconnecting the hose and assembling it properly. The shower head outlet was mounted way too high and the spray handle was unreachable. There was no caulking at the base of the tub or around the toilet. We had to argue with Galaxie about the new toilet that was in the contract (they claimed we were not supposed to get a new toilet). At the end of the walk-through, the field supervisor said he would send the crew back out to spend one whole day to address all of these issues. It was a Thursday and he said that by the end of the day the following Monday, we would receive an email detailing the remaining work to be done along with a projected date of their return. It has been over a month since then and never heard from him again, so I am in the process of finishing the remainder of the job myself. The crew was very pleasant and hard working, but there was one problem after another and communication was a significant problem. If we had it to do over, we would not go through Galaxie. We would go to a showroom where we could see the cabinets and choices and hire contractors through them. The cabinets we received were very low end and the carpentry and joinery was quite sloppy. The muttons on the glass cabinet door was only painted on one side and we were promised a replacement door on two occasions which never happened. I would look elsewhere if you are thinking of a kitchen or bath remodel. read more

I had my bathroom remodeled by Galaxie. I signed my contract on 5-31-14, I picked all my materials via their online system on 11-8-14. I was told by Galaxie that the project would begin 6 weeks after all materials were chosen. My project did not begin until 5-11-15. Galaxie said the project would be complete in 2 weeks, it was not completed until 7-28-15, 12 weeks. The problems started immediately: 1. The contractors were always late, which made me late for work. 2. They demolished down to the studs and never put up plastic to block the construction dust, nor did they use booties to prevent the dust from being tracked throughout my house. 3. They put all the construction garbage in my garage which is connected to my home. Needless to say my entire house, basement and garage are filled with construction debris and dust. 4. They did not clean up after themselves from day to day. I came home early one day from work and the contractors had the audacity to clean their tools and paint brushes in my kitchen sink. They used my NEW bathroom sink even after they had been told to use the basement utility sink for cleanup. 5. They failed to follow the specification sheet by adding tile to my bathroom wall and failed to install recessed lighting in the shower ceiling. 6. They completed the linen closet and installed the toilet in the basement, but refused to do it unless I signed papers to pay them. 7. The painting was sloppy and had to be redone several times. I had two Project Managers during my tenure with this company, Roxanne and Jennifer and they both were horrible. Neither one of them called me back in a timely manner. Jennifer ordered and had installed a shower door that I rejected via the company's change system. I notified the company in writing and they refused to replace the door. After which, I refused to sign a work completion document. At that time, Galaxie threatened to place a lien on my property. Adding insult to injury, I have a medical condition that was exacerbated by the construction dust. There was sand and dust in my CPAP machine and I woke up with a mouthful of blood. But, due to the unprofessional operations of this company my stress level increased significantly. Galaxie provided a minuscule discount and wanted me to sign a release payment form, a Social Media Gag order, provide them access to my bank account and apply for another VISA card. I did pay them, but I am not satisfied with my bathroom because I did not get the shower door that I approved and the vision I had for my bathroom is forever impaired. I would never do business with Galaxie again, and I will never, ever advise any one to do business with this company. read more

Horrible quality, as soon as I signed the contract they bailed and left it up to their sub-contractors, who didn't show up and did horrible work when they did. Galaxie refused to fix major problems, such as incorrectly installing a shower floor so that it doesn't drain correctly. Also, note that they declared bankruptcy a few years ago, this company is horrible. Also note the "positive" reviews here are very similar to all the other sites. Makes me think those are company submitted reviews, since all the others are 1 star read more

We needed to get our entire front stairs and porch rebuilt out of concrete. Most handymen in the area said they couldn't do it, because it's too big of a job, which is understandable, and most of them said we should check with Galaxie. Since I'm a Blackhawks fan, I of course remembered the ads and thought I'd give them a try. So I checked their website and it seems to be exactly what they do and submitted a inquiry on their website. Two days later received a call back and I described the project again. The lady on the phone told us that this is too small of a project and that we don't meet their minimum requirements. She asked if we have anything else to fix in the house, otherwise they wouldn't even come out and give us a quote. We declined and got the project done through MLS Building services and paid a total of $5,300. Galaxie Home Remodeling must be doing great if they wouldn't even come out and give us a quote for a project that's over $5,000. Guess they have to pay for the expensive commercials during the Blackhawks game and $5,000 isn't enough to lift their finger. read more

in spring of 2011 Galaxie installed new rook and roofdeck. The workmen were always on time and finished on time. Then i had a small leak around a skylight, and repairs were conducted within a day. But, despite 4 calls to schedule remediation of leakage stains to paint and drywall, NO calls have been returned. Very frustrating after initially a positive experience. read more

My husband and I had someone from Galaxie come into our home to give us a quote on re-doing our kitchen. It was a little higher than we wanted so we turned in down. A couple of months later, their inside sales manager called and said he could do it at the price we originally wanted. We set up an appointment to look at the finishes. No one came. The next day, we got a call saying the estimate was wrong and it would cost $2000 more. What a waste of my time. No sense of customer service or honesty. read more

This is the worst company I have dealt with. From day one there were problems with scheduling. The customer service and communication is awful. No one will call you back in a timely manner, the computer system they use is very difficult to navigate causing delays and your "project manager" (Roxanne) does little to help. A week long project took almost 2 months to complete. Our counter was mis-measured, we ended up with a flood in my closet and while the construction crew (who are sub-contracted) was wonderful and came back to address issues, getting ahold of anyone in the company was impossible. They did very little to right the wrongs in this project and made us feel like any problems were our fault. I tried talking to the manager whose only suggestion was to let them do our next project and they will try to do better. Ummm NO THANK YOU!! We will never use this company again or recommend this company to anyone. We deeply regret our very expensive decision to use Galaxie. read more

Beware. Galaxies' timeline was totally unrealistic as I was told by the salesman a partial bathroom remodel would take about 5 days when it actually took over 2 1/2 months. And the shower still does not drain properly. Dealing with their contractors was a nightmare. They never worked a full day and they ended up quitting half way through our job, blaming Galaxy management. We don't believe certain things were done properly but no one ever checked on our job site to see if everything was going right. Now after the fact I believe there may be issues. They just wanted to keep charging us for whatever they could. I would never recommend this company to anyone! We learned an expensive lesson. read more

WOST!!! SCAM!! EVER!!! was told I was getting pot lighting, and pull outs, was told 7-10 business days for re-model, was told the project would not start until all material was in-stock, and biggest joke of all was that I was getting a project manager! This is sadly the worst decision I have ever made. Currently I am in a re-model with Galaxie, I regret the day I signed with them. And The best day will be the last day I ever have to speak with them again. Cabinets weren't ordered correctly, was lied to about what was actuality on my layout. So they are trying to tell me I was never in my contract for the things I am saying are wrong. THEY NEVER CALL ME BACK. !!! JENNIFER ROJAS is the WORST "project manager " it is a joke she even has a job. The only thing she is good at is not responding. She completely screwed my project up, she lied and said it was the manufactures fault, she does not tell the subcontractors ANYTHING. I feel trapped, scammed, embarrassed, and I'm so pissed. We now will be speaking to a lawyer to see what our rights are, as we have significant documentation as to the horrid service we have gotten. and the stand still of the project has left our home uninhabitable. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well. read more
