The MSP archery range is the best public range I've ever shot at. In fact, it's better than the…read moremajority of private ranges, too. Located along the Eastern side of Mile Square Park, along Euclid St, the range is a beautiful outdoor setting, with the entire length of the shooting lanes covered with a nice, big steel structure. There are 20+ lanes, starting with 10 yd bales on one end, going out to 70-80 yds on the other end, in 10 yd increments. There are also lanes with no bales for archers who want to bring their own targets, stands, etc. It is a popular spot for shooters, and is especially busy on the weekends, so be prepared that you may have to wait for a lane, or share a lane with your group. (And seriously, if you are going to a public range with a group of 4-5 people, do you EACH need your own lane? Be kind and share!) The bales are all foam, and do get replaced periodically as the middles get shot out. The range is generally not monitored by Park Rangers, so it is up to the shooters to self-manage the range most of the time. Also note that the Parks Service runs group lessons most Saturday mornings, and when the lessons are running the Parks staff will call out the range commands. When the range is busy, and when Parks is running group lessons, the range will be slow. If you are a fast shooter, bring enough arrows so you don't shoot your 6 then wait 5 - 10 minutes for the rest of the range to finish the round. (Conversely, don't shoot 20-30 arrows if the entire range is waiting on YOU to finish a round.) There is a paid parking lot ($5) inside the park, right next to the west end of the range. Entrance is on Euclid, almost to Warner Ave. Or, you can park along Euclid for free, and just walk in to the range (~200 yards walk through the park.) There are park restrooms behind the range if you need. The range itself is free to use. Overall a beautiful place to shoot your bow(s), well maintained, and vast majority of archers there are good, friendly types.

They got to come back to the designated bench area for hydration between sites. It was a hot day & they all had long sleeves and hoodies for protection. They let us bring in our own food and drinks but have a decent snack bar too. $60 per kid for 2 hrs. Viewing area is hard to see the kids but it's a nice option for parents / those not participating. The pro shop has A/C and gear, minimal snacks & drinks. I can't speak on the pricing because I don't know enough about airsoft / paintball softlines. Good selection though for all your forgotten needs.

At one point, I caught the manager yelling at my kids in front of a group of other customers, demanding to know why they had left their equipment on the counter by the desk. First of all, no one was even at the equipment desk when they went to return it. More importantly, we were never given any instructions about the proper equipment drop-off procedure. When I addressed this with the manager, he told me that someone "should have" given us instructions. Well, no one did. The young referee was apparently expected to referee the games AND handle the equipment desk at the same time. That alone shows how poorly organized and understaffed this place was. There was also another incident that really bothered me. At one point, staff approached my kids and asked if THEY were the ones who had vomited on the field. From what we observed, they did not go around asking the other players--they specifically approached my kids and seemingly assumed it was someone from our group. I found that incredibly inappropriate and embarrassing for them. What bothered me most was the way the manager chose to handle everything. If there was a misunderstanding about where the equipment should be returned, he could have simply explained it to the kids respectfully. There was absolutely no reason for a grown adult--especially a manager--to yell at children and embarrass them in front of other people over a procedure that his own staff failed to explain in the first place. I spent a lot of money bringing a group of kids here to celebrate my son's birthday, and I expected, at the very least, basic organization and respectful customer service. Instead, we dealt with inadequate staffing, poor communication, my kids being unnecessarily singled out, and an unnecessarily rude and unprofessional manager. For a business that regularly hosts kids, groups, and birthday parties, I expected much better. Spending that kind of money only to have my kids singled out and publicly yelled at over the business's own lack of communication was completely unacceptable. We will absolutely not be returning, and based on our experience, I would not recommend this place for a birthday celebration. Addendum in response to your lies: Of course you would lie. No accountability on your part. My kids and their friends were not breaking any rules. If they were indeed breaking rules, for 3 hrs your staff did not address this with me? Strange. They've been in business for 25 years and know what's what when it comes to the bow and arrow! Having not practiced this ancient sport for many years, my expectations were low coming in, but I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. The rules were straightforward and shooting the bow was simple and fairly easy. The aiming part wasn't as easy... but I definitely improved by the end of the two hours! The team working there helped out with general instructions and pointers as well were all shooting. People started "getting it" about an hour in and balloons on the targets started popping pretty regularly. I finally got one right at the end! It was also pretty cool to see some of the more serious semi-pro type of archers there with their hardcore bows and compound bow setups. Overall this is a unique experience and worth a go if you're looking for a fun activity. They also have lessons and it's good for older kids. Five stars!

We had to go to the arcade for help and you have to pay at the arcade even if someone is on duty. Also, it's $7 a person which I feel is steep considering it is a compact 9 hole course. However, it's in the dark with a cool glow in the dark look. You can pick form 4-5 different color balls and putters. There are some typical crazy bends and places you have to hit the ball to get to the hole. Also some structures you have to get into at some point. It was never crowded and we had a great time every time we played. It was a real nice option.
