We're new to the area and landed on this place because we wanted something freshly made but fast. This was a hit! I really liked the green sauce with the chicken enchiladas. I also liked that everything can be customized to your liking. I'll definitely be back!

We came here tonight for date night. We both got 2 enchiladas and a side each. I got the bison and he got the chicken and beef. Both of them tasted good but a little less "good" than we remember from our first experience here. I also remembered and craved the cornbread side. I thought the side was dry this time and not as moist and flavorful as I remembered it to be, the price for the small serving was also a lot. The portion should be at least a bit bigger than a few bites in what seemed to be a condiment sized cup. The two crew members tonight were doing the best they could it seems and I give them credit in general for trying.

I love Gadzooks' enchiladas and their spicy (jalapeño) cornbread! I was bummed when they closed down the Chandler location, but glad the Gilbert location is still around. I recently met a friend for dinner here on a Tuesday just before 6pm, and it wasn't too busy. I highly recommend the half & half tortillas - half corn, half flour. I like to get two enchiladas - one chicken and one bison, if it's available. Note: Bison comes with an up-charge ($1.25). The pork is great too. You have a choice between red sauce (smoky), green sauce, or Christmas sauce (red & green). Add some Asadero cheese & Chihuahua cheese, and always add cornbread in the bowl with the enchiladas so that it gets heated up too - trust me! After it's heated up in the oven for a few minutes, there are so many topping options. I love their jalapeño ranch, scratch-made crema, cotija cheese, and honey vinaigrette slaw. I devour the entire thing every time. It is so filling, but I'm still bummed when it's all gone. The cornbread alone is worth coming back for! There is plenty of seating inside, but another great way to enjoy it is to get takeout and bring it over to Beer Barn nearby for a tasty meal and a cold beer!

The pool boy tacos were out of this world. Who knew you could put cornbread in a taco! Gadzooks reminds me of a better tasting slightly more expensive chipotle. The service is similar to what you would expect at a Chipotle. A great place for grabbing a quick bite if you're on the go.

Gadzooks is a cool dining experience for made to order enchiladas with excellent food. I love the concept of selecting your own meat and toppings, including bison, and then having it cooked right in front of you. The locations vary quite a bit, however this one in Epicenter is very well run. I recommend the enchiladas with bison and red sauce or pulled chicken and green sauce. The food is reasonably priced and load up on toppings since they are included and get creative. There is plenty of indoor seating and the service was very good. Make sure to try the homemade cornbread as it is their specialty!

Gadzooks has become one of our family's favorite spots for comfort food... especially thanks to their double-layered nachos, which are a game-changer! The place is always clean and well-kept, though the bathroom feels a bit creepy and could definitely use some redecoration to match the vibe of the rest of the restaurant. A special shoutout to Mania, who consistently gives top-notch service every time we visit. She's enthusiastic, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, always offering great recommendations for toppings and creative ingredient combos. What stands out most is how she confirms your order with care, makes sure it's right, and serves up generous portions with a smile. You can really tell when someone puts their heart into their work! And Mania absolutely does. We're always happy when she's the one preparing our order! Gadzooks is a gem, and Mania makes it even better.

I was the only one here and I'm surprised the food was great and great quality. They did forget a fried egg and the cornbread on the side but so did I until I sat down. I will be back but be alittle more watchful of the things I ask for. The flavors were great and glad I came.

Enchiladas with green sauce plus black beans

I always like the option to choose my own fillings and toppings. The lunch special is a good deal because for $15 I was able to get the enchiladas, one side and a fountain drink. Unfortunately I found the black bean side too spicy for my liking, but I'm aware that I'm a spice wimp. For my enchiladas I chose the half corn/half flour tortillas and found those to be good. I liked the chicken meat but found the beef filling to be nothing special and pawned that enchilada off on my husband. The green sauce was a good choice for me (spice wimp) as it had good flavor but wasn't overly spicy. I did like that you could add items to your dish like cotija cheese or crema. While I'm not sure I'll return to Gadzooks, I did appreciate the very nice, helpful guy who explained the choices and ingredients to us while we ordered.

I have been wanting to try this place for a few years and now that there is one not far from home I decided it was time. The concept is like Chipotle, you build you own meal. In this case its enchiladas, tacos, nachos, salad or soup. My friend and I both had enchiladas. There is an option for their specialty tortillas which are half corn half flour. They also offer an all corn tortilla. We both did the specialty tortilla, one stuffed with beef short rib and the other stuffed with shredded chicken. I elected for half green half red sauce and both cheeses. After that they put them in a hot oven to bake. After taking them out you can add additional toppings. We both had honey vinaigrette slaw. I added jalapeno ranch and cotija on top as well and my friend did crema and cotija. I also got the chips and guacamole (per a suggestion from another review). These came out piping hot as expected. It was a totally new flavor experience. With the honey slaw, and jalapeno ranch added.. it was delicious! My friend enjoyed theirs as well! The really good things to note, the chips and guacamole! Yup these are what tortillas are supposed to be like! The guacamole was similar to chipotles. The service! The guy that helped us was really helpful! He genuinely was happy to answer questions and I had to know what was and wasn't spicy cuz I am a wimp. The food is another thing to note. It was really really delicious! Some additional take aways, the cost is a bit steep for fast casual. Two orders of enchiladas, chips and guac and no drinks was $32. The side of guac was small, real small. The portions are big but if you aren't a big eater then you will need to take them home and enchiladas don't reheat the same. The slaw was soggy and the rest was mush. Still tasted delicious but not the same. They do offer a kids enchilada, which is one and that would be the way to go (if they let you) to not get too much food. I will definitely return but will order a little differently. Since I did a mix of meats and sauces I really didn't get the best idea of what each one tasted like. Obviously I could tell the difference between short rib and chicken but as for flavors go I think its best to order one meat and one sauce to get the best idea of flavor. I will definitely return for chips and guac when I need a snack because its that good.

Staff here chats with each other. Not to people waiting. And if you walk out, they laugh at you.

I come to AZ annually to visit my in-laws, go hiking, and try tacos from as many different places as possible. I wasn't able to try anything here. I walked in, waited literally ten minutes while observing the staff chit-chatting with each other. I know they saw me because one of them filled up a few of the condiment trays along the food assembly line. I used to wait tables and know its a hard job, so I tried to be very patient. But once one of the staff looked right into my eyes and then proceeded yapping in the back with her coworkers, I decided enough was enough and I walked out. I've worked hard and thankless jobs before. It sucks. You pick and choose your spots. But you didn't leave customers hanging. Bad choice. Probably explains this place's poor rating despite a very tasty-sounding menu that I really wanted to experience. I won't bother with that again. If you want tacos and are in this area, walk another 300 yards to Backyard Taco. Yes it's a chain but they're SUPER NICE and very focused on ... actually selling food to their customers. And the tacos are pretty dang good for a chain.

Chicken enchilada in left and chicken taco on right

The food was delicious. You walk up and Place your order, tacos, enchiladas etc, there are various meats from beef , chicken and even bison!! Sauces, I had the jalapeño ranch, great heat. Since the taco can't really be picked up, I would recommend the enchiladas. A lot of choice and great flavor! The ambiance is just fast food, nothing special....thats my only negative.

Enchiladas, corn chowder, chips and salsa

After thinking about it many a time, I finally tried Gadzooks. I've always been intrigued by the idea (who doesn't love enchiladas and soup) as an alternative to my usual fast-casual places. When we first walked in, I was really excited and kicking myself for not coming earlier because they had corn chowder (my favorite soup) and they had the ability to add an egg (my favorite add-on). The folks behind the counter were friendly and explained our options and the process very clearly. Unfortunately, despite the above and the restaurant's popularity, the food fell flat. The chips were greasy, the pico watery, the soup one-dimensional, and everything was just too salty. I did like the slaw though! I can see why people like this place, but just not the place for my palate.

Interesting concept, sort of like Chipotle for burritos. Both my wife and I enjoyed our custom-made meals.

Parking was a breeze, and since there were three of us (including one never-full teenager ), we went for the Mexi-Q Platter and added an extra birria taco so everyone could try one. It absolutely lived up to the hype! The surprise standout? The brisket tostada--sooooo flavorful and satisfying on every level! We also loved the sausage link, Mexi-Q twinkies (aka smoked jalapeños stuffed with brisket and cream cheese, then wrapped in bacon ), and honestly, everything we tried was a hit. For sides, we ordered Grandma's Calabacitas (a yummy squash veggie mix), roasted cream elote, and Julio's mac n' cheese (which I skipped, but the guys were big fans). We wrapped up this phenomenal meal with their GF banana pudding (they offer both GF and regular options), and it was seriously scrumptious--such a treat to have a gluten-free dessert that feels just as special! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and attentive. They double-checked that everything we ordered (minus the mac n' cheese) was gluten-free, which is always such a relief. It means so much when a place truly understands gluten and can clearly guide you on what's safe. We sat outside and soaked up the beautiful weather--it was the perfect setting for such a fun and tasty meal! An easily awarded and well deserved

I stopped by this spot to try their spin of Mexican bbq. The carnitas taco was really good. I put…read morethe Carolina gold bbq sauce on it and it was perfect. I liked that sauce so much that I'd consider going back just to try it on some of their other bbq. I didn't like the brisket birria taco as much because it was way too salty for me. The mac and cheese was also just okay. It had so much sauce that it was too thick and unpleasant to eat. The vibe was good though. They have seating inside and outside. I love that they had the misters running to keep the outdoor seating cool. The staff was also very nice.
