Ahhhh...Gab's Good Grub. It is good indeed, good for those late nights when everything else is closed and you have no choice but to eat in the nearest cafeteria/canteen/eatery/restaurant (I seriously don't know what they are), Gab's Good ( No Choice) Grub.
Well for the actual review:
As a diner, I have never been so confused in an establishment's menu. They have so many things going on in their menu that I had to wonder how they store and cook all the ingredients without food spoilage every week.
As for the crew. -_- The cooks smoke next to the actual dining area ( Really??), the servers aren't very knowledgeable with their own menu and they just chat all the time which contributes to the already noisy area.
When it comes to food : GGG is good at being consistent. Consistently disappointing. And to explain why, here are my experiences with GGG.
1st- They were newly opened back then, and since I was just walking distance from them I decided to give it a try. I ordered their " Crispy Liempo" ( Take note: "CRISPY AND "LIEMPO")
Service was fast, but to my surprise, a BREADED BACON ( Technically bacon is thinly sliced pork belly a.k.a. liempo, but couldn't they just said bacon...?) was served to me. Seriously, who does that? Well, breading and bacon were not even crispy, and the bacon a.k.a. thinly sliced liempo was bland, the typical bacon taste was missing. A very bad first impression.
2nd- It was late again, and there was no other place that's open, so I said to myself, why not give it another try, this time I oredered their Adobo Flakes ( Which looks more like pulled-pork than Adobo flakes). If you like sipping vinegar, then you'll like their Adobo Flakes, because it was just too sour. None of the normal flavors were there. It was just a sour wet mess.
3rd and final experience- So after being disappointed twice already, I was stupid enough to give them another chance ( There's no other choice at 2:30am ). And the dish I tried was their Mexican Flavored Buffalo Wings. Well they didn't lie about it being mexican flavored. It was like a regular home-made fried chicken then coated with Nacho Salsa. It was great. Greatly disappointing.
Well, at this point all I can say is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Sure, their prices are low, but the quality is also low.
My Ratings:
Place - 6/10 For being convenient and open 24 hours
Staff and Service - 3/10 Cooks, if you're gonna smoke, at least not in plain sight and smell of diners.
Food- 4/10 For being edible. Didn't quite meet my expectations. And I felt betrayed by the "Crispy Liempo" and "Mexican Buffalo Wings". read more
