Unless you are willing to fly to Palawan, there's really no better place to go freshwater pearl shopping in the country other than in Greenhills. Shopping, however, is hard work and so it was with a sense of exasperation that I searched for a good place to eat with a finicky balikbayan aunt who vetoed virtually every American or Italian restaurant that I proposed. Then I thankfully found Ebun, which prides itself on serving good Kapampangan food.
All the dishes are good for sharing, and all of them were indeed good. We had chicharon bulaklak for appetizers, followed by a pot of kare kare, bulalo, some pork lechon (sold in hundred-gram portions) and a plate of fresh lumpia to help the palate cut through all that cholesterol. True to the Pampangueno's reputation for good cooking, each dish was flavorful and perfectly executed.
If there are some suggestions for improvement, I would say that the wait staff could perhaps be trained better to give faster service. They were times when simple water refills would take too long, so much so that we actually requested for a water pitcher to be brought to our table. Also, the fruit shakes are a bit on the watery side. Overall though, the restaurant is worth a second (and third) visit, especially given the prices which are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food it serves. read more
