Located just east of the Belle Isle Bridge, Gabriel Richard Park is a dappled oasis of green lawns and trees with a lovely walkway along the sparkling Detroit river at its southern edge.
I visited recently with a friend in order to walk the park's labyrinth. Labyrinths are have existed from ancient times. They are carefully constructed patterns that one walks as an aid to meditation. The one in Gabriel Richard park is located west of the butterfly walks in the shadow of the Belle Isle Bridge. It was lovely and calming to slowly walk the labyrinth's pattern with the hot sun shining down and a cooling breeze wafting off the river.
If I could, I would visit the park several times a month. And if you can, you should visit it this summer (2016). read more
