After placing our order, the order came out pretty quickly considering the place was packed. I got the Lava Flow (pineapple juice, coconut milk, haupia foam, strawberry puree) - also added li hing mui powder IYKYK. The flavor was light, fresh & not overly sweet. The texture of the shave ice wasn't the softest shave ice I've ever had but not a big deal. It was still the best thing for such a hot day in Kauai & hit the spot! They also have cute merchandise available & even an OG classic shave ice maker on display. I will say this is my first time coming to a shave ice place & not being able to customize my order & choose specific flavors, but I guess that helps ensure the combinations they do offer on their unique menu are optimal. Overall, I will definitely be back especially since the staff was so friendly!

We ordered the Ube and regretted not getting it with ice cream or "snow capped." But the flavor was still good! With that being said, the operations hit a few snags. The staff is really young and not super efficient. They were chatting quite a bit and I could tell it was slowing the process down. Seating is also limited during peak hours, so prepare to take it outside if necessary. For the experience, it's worth it. For the price and the wait? I'd probably skip next time.

The shop is hidden behind a shopping plaza so follow the signs along the way. Service is great - Tim and Jess, the owners, are so friendly. They will come out and chat with you if it's not too busy! We ordered 4 different flavors (mango, strawberry, injeolmi, and coffee) to try but I only got pics for two of them. They were all beautifully crafted and tasted so fresh with every bite. The ice is so powdery too! Familee really does not skimp out on ingredients and are very generous with their portions. My family really liked everything we ordered and will definitely recommend Familee to everyone who visits Kauai. Mahalo Tim and Jess!

There's lots of space to sit outside the storefront, but it does take about 5 min to make each dessert...so don't wait for your friends to enjoy if you get yours first!

Once I checked my wingman Yelp, Kapa'a Apple Pie Company appeared on the list. The unique crust and fruit cuts caught my eye, and moreso the extended scone flavors! I shopped through their website and found my potential flavor to be listed as sold out. I immediately sent a Yelp message to the business. Lucky for me the pie artist and owner responded within the day. I asked for a mango cream pie and was relieved Wayne was able to make my request happen within a week's notice, and even when mangoes aren't in season. I also ordered a tray of ube coconut scones, and finalized the detail in a quick and easy manner. The pick up was simple, and Wayne was so genuine in welcoming me to the island, and giving me further instructions in preserving the pie. There was even a thank you note attached. He bid us a well wishing farewell and safety for the rest of our stay. Our family was delighted with the balance of cream to mango. Refreshing was correct, Mango-cream-so-ono good!!! My MIL could not stop talking about the beauty of the crust and how amazing it tasted. The crust reminded me of shortbread cookies and it was decadently flakey enough to eat on its own. We were able to cut the pie in 8, and everyone finished their piece even after a large meal!! Once the family tried the ube scones, they could not stop at one. Each scone was so soft and tasty even my baby neice happily ate it. My significant other barely made it out the door with the last scone!! There was just so much Aloha put within the baked goods and much appreciated Aloha from the Kapa'a pie company. Mahalo nui loa for making this an easy transaction and setting off my Kaua'i visit on a wonderful note!!

In town for the day simply to show me an investment property my family and I might be interested in the very near future, before she departed she had to pick up an order of pies to bring back to her family. Of course, I came along for the ride because I liked pie, but I was curious how good they were if she was willing to fly several of them in her carry-on. Founded by Sandy in October 2009, she quickly adjusted her business model from doing six community events a week to her first retail location in Lihue in 2011. The business continued to grow that led to a second location this time in Kalaheo in 2014. Fast-forward to today, the Kalaheo store is the only one standing, and she has cultivated a strong following both near and far of pie fans and the continued support of the local community. Did I choose the right slice for my first time here!? PURCHASE(S) Mango Lilikoi Pie Slice ($8.50): Their most popular pie, they had me at mango! Filled with plump juicy mangoes combined with the just right amount of lilikoi (passionfruit) and topped with a sugar crust. Juicy sweetness burst in every bite, and I was in pure heaven! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=-IUMWv6HB5wpv9AiQ-Y_bg Macadamia Nut Pie Slice ($8.50): This time, they had me at macadamia! Made with a ton of island macadamia nuts, roasted to a perfect golden brown combined with butter, eggs, sugar, and fresh spices for a nutty tropical sensation, this pie reminded me of a pecan pie but so much better! It was heavy, thick, and required a cold glass of milk to perfectly pair it with. I went nuts for this pie! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=JfthjT1sMLgeXqbfMPGzhA To-Go Containers ($0.50 x2): For my dessert, I've never been charged this before, but I understood businesses needed to cut/pass along costs as much as possible - c'est la vie. Credit Card Surcharge 3.00% ($0.57): Another pass-along fee that has become more prevalent - oh well. SERVICE I was warmly greeted by a young woman behind the counter who gave me time to review the menu while she offered recommendations. Once I ordered, my items were quickly packed and ready to go - mahalo! PARKING (FREE): We were lucky to grab one of the five small spots in front of their shop (it was very difficult to back out due to the heavily-trafficked thoroughfare). Otherwise, I wasn't sure where else you could park nearby - be prepared. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A country shop-like and ice-cream parlor feel with a couple of wooden tables, pie display https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=5gAkOcUYZ1pbgpC8UZq5xg cases, a pie menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=vSyaGOufl1cmq9OBOppvPw hung from the ceiling behind the counter, counters and shelves with merchandise, and an open entry way that welcomed you https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=jSiOeD6ISWVAot4Qkz2e1A in for a treat. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large front doors and windows while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. OVERALL The Right Slice offered magical pies both savory and sweet (I must return to try a savory one!) all made from scratch and with a ton of love. The care and pride was tasted in each incredible bite, and I wished I had one to bring back with me after I ate each slice back at the resort. Everything tasted phenomenal, the prices may've been a tad high (but well worth it!), and the service was calming and straightforward. Plus, I always loved to try and support small local mom & pop businesses. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $19.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

No xbloom pour-overs being served, so I settled for pre-made drip. The barista was friendly enough but couldn't tell me anything about the coffees on her own menu -- origin, roast, process, nothing. She recommended a mac nut latte for my partner, which felt less like a recommendation and more like the only thing she was sure of. The drip came out fast and hot. That's the last nice thing I have to say. The latte comes from a second window, where a different employee was actively hostile. Busy morning, so I asked if the drink was mine. She snapped that my name was written on the cup. It was -- facing her. I was apparently supposed to read it through the cup. Here's the real problem: someone clearly put thought into the roasting side of this business, and then handed the entire customer-facing operation to people who received no training whatsoever. Not in the coffee, not in basic hospitality. You can teach someone to smile. You can teach them to answer a question without contempt. Nobody bothered. Average coffee, worse service, priced for people who won't be back anyway -- and given the volume of visitors, that model probably works fine for them. It won't work for me. Kauai has cafés run by people who are genuinely obsessed with what they're doing. Go find one of those. Serious coffee drinkers should walk right past this place.
