The food is, for us, the best tasting Indian in the area. We love the Samosas. Paneer Makhni, and Malai Kabobs. Absolutely delicious. 4 instead of 5 stars for take out - we've had some issues with long delivery, wrong food. And tonight we barely got any rice with our dinner. Small sacrifice for the tastiness. This review is more for "Kathiawadi by spice grill" although we ordered all kinds of food when we were there. We were a party of 9 people where we had teenagers, young adults, middle aged adults and a senior (80 year old) in our party and this is one family friendly place with nice decor, very good service and more than that fresh hot tasty authentic food served with love. Some people in our party ordered traditional "kathiawadi Thali" and we loved the variety in thali. The bajri rollas, wheat rotalis, Undhiu, sev tomato, methi gota was server hot and was very tasty. We got second and third helpings of these. Some people in our party ordered bullet naan, cheese butter masala, daal makhani etc and they loved what they ordered also. The place is not noisy at all so you can still hold conversation, the decor is very nice and they serve North Indian food, Chaat food as well as gujarati Thali under one roof making it a perfect place for family dinner. This was the first indian restaurant I ever visited, and it is by far the best I've had yet. The heat level is always on point, and the tikka masala, and vindaloo are always consistently incredible. The vindaloo has a beautiful red color without too much oil / grease, and the chicken is tender and flavorful. Went with 6 people. We all enjoyed our food but felt the dishes that said they were to be spicy were not. Dishes were balanced though and much more than I'm used to when eating Indian. Very mellow flavors so good for spice shy people. Took off a star because the service was spotty (soft drinks came at same time as lunch), garlic naan wasn't served immediately with meal and portions were tiny, especially for the price. The food at spice grill is wonderully and deliciously prepared, but it was the owner last night that won us over. After a minor mix up where we were served and began to eat food meant for another table, I felt so bad for the waitress that I offered to simply eat the meals we were served , which were new and different, and take home my originally meals to eat tomorrow. I fully expected to pay, but was given the meals by the owner for our inconvenience, which was no inconvenience at all. April 24, 2021 : this just happened. We ordered Bhindi masala, aloo gobi, veg biryani, palak paneer and naan. The bhindi was undercooked, tbe gobi of aloo gobi was undercooked and the peas in veg biryani were still frozen. And veg biryani had the stale masala smell. I havent even got to best part yet. I called restaurant to ask him what happened. He listens to me and then says - Call me after 1 hour, we are very busy right now and HANGS UP!!!! He hangs up. Disappointing return trip. They are very friendly And they still have vegetarian choices. But instead of the delicious eggplant and okra we had last time, it was an almost exclusively legume forward ( and super carb-y) set of veggie choices, that were mostly ok rather than scrumptious. Dal, cabbage and chickpeas, peas and potatoes, corn and spinach. There was also a Karahi paneer, But it was not very interesting. There was one super leaden samosa as the only appetizer. I would've liked a soup too. The best dish was the corn and spinach, and the rice pudding (which was the only dessert choice) Was tasty too. I also liked the onion chutney. The flavors fell flat in pretty much every dish. The tandoori chicken looked like tandoori chicken, but it was not only dry, it also lacked tandoor smokingness and was quite bland. The same can be said of the tikka. Pros: - the naan was pretty good. they bring it to ur table fresh. - the chicken in the tikka masala was actually the second most tender chicken in curry i've had. TOO BAD the sauce was bland, not only in terms of spiciness but indian flavors in general. Overall: I would not come here again, but maybe this is the best in the area. Spice Grill is my go-to Indian restaurant hands down. The servers are very attentive and the owner is very kind and involved. Before the COVID-19 pandemic I used to come at least once a month for their lunch buffets where you get a large variety of options to choose from to satisfy your palate. Dinner is also good there too with a large menu selection and everything is always so delicious! During the pandemic, I've been ordering takeout from here all the time! My favorites are the lamb biryani, the chicken palak, and of course their chicken tikka masala. I definitely recommend that you check this place out. Considering that there are so many Indian restaurants in Parsippany, it is hard to pick a favorite but Spice Grill has easily topped my list! read more

I'm upset that this place has went downhill. I used to eat here all the time a few years ago and used to drive from far away to get their Chicken tikka masala and always used to order a tray of it for the holidays. The last two times we ate here in the last few months the food is not the same! Taste is different now: not in a good way and the spice level is overpowering that you can't enjoy the flavor. Did they get a new chef or change ownership? I don't like the changes. Plus the service was very spotty, they didn't keep up restocking the Buffett very well. We were almost finished our meal by the time we finally got a small measly basket of naan. Had to go ask for water. The variety of food that was offered was no way close to what they charged for a lunch. Overpriced big time. - Variety... As just mentioned, not much of a variety offered. - Restaurant is in need of a good cleaning. Walls are very dirty and the restaurant could use a good deep cleaning. I've been told about this place from a friend and finally got around to visiting it. Since that initial visit, been back at least 6 times. It's a 45 minute drive for me and it is worth it. The food is always great, and service matches the food. Now a days, you either get good food or good service, but rarely do you get both, but nonin the case of Spice Grill. I love the lamb chops, Afghani chicken, and other tandoor items. The Butter Chicken is rich and creamy as it should be. Haven't been disappointed with anything we ordered. read more

Went for dinner on friday night with my boyfriend. It was pretty full by 7:00 and people kept coming in after we were seated. Its a pretty small restaurant but i could tell its clean even though the lighting is pretty dark. We were greeted by a super friendly manager/owner and then a less zealous waiter (who was still nice enough don't get me wrong) who brought us some papaad? Its a tissue paper thin "bread" that is a little salty for my taste and a duo of sauces. One was a green limey sauce which i loved and then the other was a non-sweet barbecue sauce. To be honest I was put off by this thin bread. I was expecting naan. Don't worry guys I got my naan fix. I ordered the lamb stuffed naan. The menu describes it to be stuffed with lamb but its more like it was smeared with lamb. It was a red color meat which was super intriguing to me and i assumed it would be very spicy but upon tasting it, i discovered that it was not spicy at all. In fact it just had a very very mild flavor. It didn't really taste like anything to be honest but i love the texture of naan anyway so i enjoyed it. For our entrees we got the chicken tikka masala and the chicken curry. Both dishes were sooo good but i will warn you that the portions are pretty small. The tikka masala was a tad sweeter than the others I have had. It was unexpected but it worked so there are no complaints here. Im not a huge fan of curry to begin with but i surprisingly enjoyed this curry even more than my tikka masala. It was pretty mild -spice wise- and the meat was very tender. Both of the entrees came with basmati rice. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to an Indian cuisine noob(probably why I enjoyed it so thoroughly) as the spices aren't to pungent and the menu has descriptions of each dish beneath it. Do not order delivery from this restaurant unless your New Year Resolution to lose weight was to get food poisoning! We have been going to this restaurant for many years ,but, we will no longer give any business to this restaurant. We ordered food for delivery (we live 3 miles from the restaurant). The food had not arrived in over 90 min. We called and they stated food was picked up for delivery one hour ago. Food arrived after two hours and was cold. Just celebrated my husband's 50th Birthday at Spice Grill. The party hall was perfect for this occasion. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Though we were booked till 3pm, we didn't leave till 4 pm and they didn't even rush us to leave. Food was awesome and I received many praises from the guests about the appetizers and entrees. Only recommendation to the restaurant would be to upgrade their TV in the party room to a Wi-Fi TV making it easier for us to display any videos or presentations put together for the special occasion. One of the better Indian spots in the area. Located in the middle of a strip mall off Rt 46 in Parsippany. Fresh ingredients especially the veggies. Flavorful chicken, lamb and goat. Buffet offered on Sunday's. Can get quite busy. Unlimited Naan which is unheard of. $16 for several dishes. Chicken Tikka is fantastic. Veggie Korma is delicious (not available at buffet). Goat is flavorful as per the wife. The sauces are so good, plenty of dipping going on. Service is top notch. Not what you would expect from an Indian spot. Stopped in to try the buffet which, while on the smaller side, had some interesting offerings. I tend to skip Indian buffets since they all serve chicken tikka and tandoori. While they had both here there was a chili chicken that was very good. It was crispy, little sauced and mixed with sliced peppers which gave it some heat. I also tried the aloo burtha, paneer, and chili eggplant which were all quite good. I also liked that they had achar among the condiments wince you typically have to ask for this. The hot buffet selection had three fried items, three rice variations, three chicken dishes like chicken Tikka Masala which was good, five vegetarian dishes and the one dessert.
