Each hour long visit consists of a 30 minute hands on treatment and a 30 minute training period. The training involves multiple muscle groups so that the training is more effective. An issue with one body part affects numerous other muscles. G3's approach is an integrated offering that is geared towards strengthening the body so that we do not add stress to one spot because of weakness somewhere else. Over the course of about a week, I called 7-8 times, left multiple voicemails, and even submitted an inquiry through the website. I never received a single callback or email response. Eventually, I stopped by the office in person because I couldn't get anyone to respond. When I explained that I had been trying to reach the office for a week, the front desk staff dismissed my concerns and told me I must have had the wrong phone number. To make sure, I called the number right there in the office, and their phone rang. I completely understand if my daughter needed a physician referral to use insurance, that wasn't the issue. The issue was the lack of communication and the way I was treated. Rather than receiving a helpful explanation, I felt dismissed and unwelcome from the moment I walked in. I can't speak to the quality of the physical therapists themselves, but first impressions matter. Unfortunately, the customer service and front office experience were enough for me to choose to take my business elsewhere.

One issue was the room was very small, so I would be hitting my body when getting up. The PT or PTA should have moved the table out but I think they moved so this problem is probably resolved. My 2nd issue is one of the Pt or PTA used so much pressure that I had a black and blue bruise and was in a lot pain. My mom, a registered nurse, wanted me to go to urgent care as the bruising was really bad. My 3rd issue is after my prescription ran out from the doctor they told me I so come back for 12 PT more visits. They did not ask me to run that by my doctor at all. I ran it by 2 different orthopedic surgeons who said no wait until after surgery for more PT. The company then called me to schedule even though my doctors said to wait. From my experience, I do not think high of the PT at Proactive at all.

They always answered the phone right away and he was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He then referred me to the physical therapy office next door and that's where the issues began. Since the first time I called, nobody ever picks up, I called 20+ times in a span of 2 weeks and each time the automated phone system made me listen to a 5 minute message about the history of San Diego Sports Medicine and the different location's phone numbers and then would proceed to hang up on me. The few times it did let me leave a message, nobody ever got back to me. It seems like nobody works at the front desk for some reason. When they finally got back to me, they made an appointment for me with the specific PT that Dr.Koretoff had requested. I was 3 weeks out from the earliest appointment which was not ideal but I had no choice but to wait. When I finally received the appointment reminder the week before the appointment, it said that the appointment will be with someone else, and not the person I had made the appointment with. The person at the front desk even confirmed that it will be with the PT I requested but that's not what they inputted in the system. As a result, I now have to wait another week to start PT. They offered no way to reconcile the situation even though it was their fault, and basically the conclusion was "tough luck, you have to pay for our mistake." In a separate conversation with the front desk again, they were explaining to me the difference between paying out of pocket vs going through insurance. They gave me the out of pocket rate but said that they can't confirm what the cost will be with insurance until I come in so I explained my deductible and the terms on my coverage to get her advice, the answer I got verbatim was "I've explained to you over and over again and it doesn't seem like you're understand so I think I'm wasting my time here." WTF? She only explained to me once, and basically indirectly called me dumb and told me I'm wasting her time? That's no way to talk to any patient especially if I'm being respectful. This is absolutely unacceptable. I don't care if you're having a bad day, you shouldn't be talking to people like that period, let alone if your job is customer service. This is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with any front desk/customer service. It's like they hate their jobs. Do you guys no vet people before hiring them?

However, the billing person identified as Mike Smith (who I was told was her husband), billed for more than 10 sessions of Electrical Stimulation treatment. Checks were mailed to their office and deposited into their bank account. He stated the Electrical Stimulation treatment plan was a separate, second one. This is insurance fraud.
