We were so excited to tour the wineries in Suisun valley today. We even had our friend come up from la just for this occasion. We looked up the hours on the website and it said they were open until 5 pm and there were no special events. We pull up to this winery which had no signs indicating the entrance . Luckily we found it. So if you're going here and you've already wine tasted at other places keep your eyes open and stay alert. It doesn't look like the rest. It's also not as simple as finding Vezer, which I highly recommend. The lady was super nice there and had a vibrant pure energy. Anyways, as soon as we got out one of the workers said they were closed. It was hardly even 4 pm. We asked if we could have a little taste since the website indicted they'd be open. He smiled, happy to kick us out as quick as possible. :( bummer too because we came from out of town. Anyways one of the worst experiences wine tasting. Too bad we couldn't try the wines otherwise this review might have been different. I can see why they aren't on par with Napa. Service means just as much to me as the quality of a good glass of wine. It's quite a shame. read more

We love this place! Be sure to try to catch Barry Ruffino as your wine host as he is very friendly and doesn't act like a wine snob. The wines are very tasty and the tasting room is comfortable and the wines are priced right. $18-$27 per bottle. Barry gave us about 5 different wines to taste. It was an interesting day, that is true. I started out in North Hollywood at 6 am. I am managing a band that has a gig in the Napa valley this evening. After 6 hours of driving we arrived at the venue. We did sound check and I did a quick yelp searches of potential things to do in the local square mile. GV Cellars, what a gem of a find. I arrived at the winery a half before closing. Did a full tasting and then some. Costco crackers were complimentary. There's a beautiful view across the vineyard and The Valley from the upstairs tasting room. The server drove me back to the gig once the winery closed. This is 5 star customer service excellence! read more

You say Cali I say wine country. I stumbled across this little gem on a road trip to Seattle. They open before most of the wineries in the area and they aren't too far from the highway. All of their wines are tasty and the actual winemaker is there pouring. If you're in town, stop here and ask for Claudia (she takes the best pics). read more

The first place that popped up was GV cellars and are we glad that we decided to visit. It's 10 dollars per person for tasting. I find this winery to be very special.They have a couple of great wine events every year...we always love going there to get the new tastings. So many great wines, a wonderful staff, very knowledgable, and really good tasting wines. The main wine maker is a Willie Wonka of wine making - they make such great diverse wines. I love the partnerships with other grape too. some of my all time favorites...Dolcetto, Lapis Luna Romanza, and incahoots sweet.it is my favorite day outing visiting this wonderful group. read more

Fairfield for wine? You gotta be kidding! What's that? Inexpensive? Friendly? Okay, lets go. About 45 minutes later from Walnut Creek: So, if I give you 10 dollars you'll let me taste 19 wines? Done. We were here for the harvest festival and loved every second of it. Great atmosphere, good wine, good food, good weather. Better yet: we didn't have any tourists or their buses barging in. This way off the beaten path winery is definitely worth the trip. It is about 10 minutes off the freeway near the 680/80 interchange and when you find it, you'll be happy. Now, we were there for the festival, but the people are the same and the wines are the same. My only recommendation is make sure you try like wines together. We jumped around a little and had to re-drink wines to get a good comparison. Now, it's not bad to do that, but it made for a confusing stay. I hear they'll even stay open if you call on the way back from Napa and want to stop since their hours aren't the best. Now that I think about it, that would be the only thing that takes stars away from the review, bad hours. Not open during the week (how can I get a drink or a bottle of wine on the way back from Sacramento?) and they open late and close early on the weekends (11-5). read more

Stopped in here again today. I must say that Claudia is AWESOME! She is very knowledgeable, friendly and has a nice smile =). She's not shy to let you taste what they have! Her husband Sal is heka cool too, he took us into the cellar and did a couple barrel tastings for us. As before, the wines are very very good! The experience was perfect. Winery said open but once we got there they were only selling bottled wines. No tasting, basically a store. Owner did not offer tasting even for the ones we bought. Said very little about the wines and winery. Bottle price ranges $20 or more. Not a good winery experience over all. 2 stars for the service. 3 stars for the 2 bottle wines bought. Also, bottled wines were handed to us in plastic bag. read more

Alright, I absolutely loved this place. In fact, I liked it so much I'm already planning my return trip. The winery was tiny, but felt very personalized the second I was greeted. The patio overlooks some outstanding landscapes and my Girlfriend and I got to lounge and taste fantastic wines without moving a muscle. Berry was a fantastic host! Knew everything there was to know about wine and always made sure our glasses were full, and boy do I mean full! Most Napa Wineries have stoppers and give you only a tiny taste, where as Berry nearly filled our glasses 7 times. We had to chill for a solid hour just to sober up. Compared to Napa wineries this place was way more affordable and offered significantly better value, without the crazy crowds. I will be back! read more

Winemakers, instead of making on massive fruit/oak bombs for exorbitant prices, focusing on making more balanced, drinkable Euro-style wines for reasonable price points. The only negative I have about this place has nothing to do with service, wine quality or pricing. It has no signage. If we hadn't parked on the side of the road and gotten out of our vehicle where we did we wouldn't have found the door. When you see the barrels, you've made it. Wines were excellent. Nice tannin structure good fruit flavors lots of character, and some age ability. The service was great, being served by a family member is always a good situation. read more

About 6 months ago I stopped in here on a whim after a long Napa weekend as a last stop before flying back to NYC. It's not as large or fancy as many other vineyards I've visited, however that is the charm. The tasting room feels like you're in someone's living room (in a good way) and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. I signed up for the wine club and have not been disappointed. I am enjoying the Dolcetto this evening with a nice home cooked meal and it's fantastic and a reminder to stop by on my next trip to SF in April. read more

This beautiful winery is off the beaten path in Suisun County, and their reds are worth the drive. Barry, the friendly bartender, introduced us to some delicious wine, even some Sangiovese pulled out of the cellar just for us. The view is unbeatable from their deck. Some drawbacks: There is a strong vinegar-like smell when you walk upstairs to the tasting room (ick), but just head straight out to the deck and let Barry bring you your tastings. Great atmosphere. The wine tasting cost 10 dollars unless you purchase a bottle. You won't be disappointed in the portions he gives you. The view is amazing. Their wine was very good. Found this winery through YELP. My boyfriend and I made a spontaneous stop by on a Sunday afternoon after finishing up a tour at the Jelly Belly factory. We didn't know quiet what to expect as we had not been to any wineries in this area . . but we were in for a treat. Atmosphere: The dog greats you as you get out the door; free range chicken coop on the side, a covered out door patio area and the tasting room looks out onto fields of vines. Wines: Well to each there own preferences but we liked many of the wines. Most of the wines are red and many are from local or estate grapes. We bought two bottles while we were there. Hostess: Claudia was friendly, helpful and was able to answer all our questions. We were able to laugh and joke around in a casual atmosphere with others there who were tasting. Price per bottle: 16+ Our only recommendation would be to put in a bocce ball court for some outdoor fun with our wine sipping! read more

We recently did a Napa tour and stayed in Farfield, CA for a night. We looked up reviews on internet and decided to visit some local places like GV Cellars versus fighting the weekend traffic and driving back into Napa. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Owners are super friendly and only $10 per tasting which is a deal considering most places in Napa are $30 and $35. Great wines that will go head-to-head against those big dollar Napa's at half the price. This is one of those hidden gems!! Tasting room is simple compared to the bigger places but charming, easy and relaxing. I'll definitely visit this winery again the next time I'm in the area. read more

We dropped by GV Cellars on the way home from a day in Napa. I'm so glad we did, because this place was the highlight of the day. It's located on a small road surrounded by vineyards. Once we arrived, we parked on the side of the road and walked around the building to find the entrance. The tasting room is upstairs. We were the only ones there at the time, so we were able to spend an hour with one of the owners tasting wines and learning about her business. The Rose of Sangiovese and Cab were excellent. This place is the definition of a small family business, so don't expect a flashy place like big corporate vineyards in Napa. For me, that was a part of the charm. read more

I attended the Suisun Valley Passport weekend last year and discovered Galvan Cellars, one of the participating wineries. The wines are great and the people are super friendly. Claudia in the tasting room is so welcoming and knowledgeable about all the wines, and Sal the winemaker, takes you into the cellar for barrel tastings. Everyone is so down to earth, it's very refreshing. Overall, a wonderful experience. I can't wait for the next wine party! read more
