We were a little confused at arrival, but one of their staff helped direct us after a min or two. We had a variety of apps and entrees and all exceeded our expectations. When you order a glass of wine and someone behind your orders coffee and they start making the coffee until they forget about you and your wine or your food. Not great! We went here around 3pm on a Sat afternoon. It's fall, so the weather was nice. We were a group with lots of kids, 5 adults, 6 kids. The adults wanted to relax and talked a bit, while the kids can just play. This place is perfect. As it's after the lunch time, only the pizza were available. Adults had their glass of wine. We ordered thru the wine bar, and picked up the pizza at the back (they have a convenient txt message for the pizza). There were only a few guests left, so we occupied the back area with artificial turf. It was perfect for the kids to run around. Adults socialized, and took some pics around the area. I can imagine a lot of activities that can happen for this area. It's not busy as the Napa valley, it has great ambience, view, and wines were good. read more

This is one of my favorite places I have found in the area. I recently found it and came back for a second trip within a week. It can be a little hard to find as it's in the Village 360 area and the sign off the road is for Caymus. The food here is great. I came here with a larger group and we ate out on the patio, and while it was a really warm day, our drinks kept us refreshed. The food did not disappoint. I highly recommend their hot honey chicken sandwich and the smash burger, but I am excited to come back for breakfast or pizza sometime. They had a good cocktail list and the view from outside was incredible. I am not quite sure when they serve food, but I know that they stop serving the "all day menu" at 2pm, and after that they have pizzas. If you want a fun place to come with some friends this is your place. read more

The membership manager/ tasting room manager, Kerensa, should be fired!!! I called to cancel my membership. The person on the phone, Kerensa, said the membership person will call me back to complete the transaction (RED FLAG #1). They never called me back. On August 16 (ABOUT A MONTH LATER), I drove up there to cancel in person. I spoke to Kerensa. I could tell by the way she looked at me that she remembered the call and knowingly did not call me back. She was shocked to see me. She then assured me the membership was canceled. Just to be sure, I wrote an email to Jody (the owner) on 8/18 to confirm the cancellation. I never received an email back from Jody (Red Flag #2). In October, I looked at my account and lo and behold, they charged me for the wine membership in October. I've reported this transaction to my bank. I never yelp because I understand that sometimes its hard to run a business and mistakes are made but this is egregious and it seems downright sneaky. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WINERY AND STAY AWAY FROM JOINING THEIR WINE CLUB. By the way, the wine is crappy too!!! This new establishment has been here since I think 2021 and this is my first time visiting it in Suisun/Fairfield, located right next to Caymus Winery (same entrance) but we came here on Black Friday for wine tasting. Reservations are made only 24 hours in advance and we were monitoring it for the week of and saw that it was fully open and they close at 9pm. That Friday there were none available online only because it was less than 24 hours, I called a couple of times upon opening and they said that they are open and we can feel free to walk in. We got there around 3pm and we're impressed at the variety of tastings, food, full bar, indoor and outdoor seating, food and venue space. Our party of 5 decided to go with the wine flight tasting as opposed to getting a card to sample our own wines from the wine bar/dispenser. Candy was our server and she was amazing, told us all about the area and venue and it was super chill and a great place to gather without having to go to Wine country. I inquired about venue space online for possible functions and candy mentioned that people love their coffee during the day, I'd have to come back to give it a try! read more

BackRoad Vines offer their tasting room inside Village 360, which has a nice view of the vineyard. Beautiful place located off Suisun Valley Road in Fairfield. It's good to know that there are local vineyards in our own backyard which is within driving distance if you don't want to go all the way to Napa, Sonoma, etc! We made online reservations which was convenient and we scheduled a tasting during the week. It was nice and relaxing during the week without the hustle and bustle of the holidays. We were greeted by the owner who was extremely welcoming. Candy took care of my party for wine tasting and she was incredible. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. She checked on us along with other parties. She also put in food orders for us. The pizza was delicious and freshly served hot. We used to love this winery, when it was in its original location. It had a rustic, casual charm that made it a pleasure to visit, often. In its old location you could bring your own food to enjoy with a tasting or bottle of wine. The new location is cold and industrial and has definitely lost its warmth & rustic charm. Outside food is no longer allowed, either! Talk about off the beaten path. I would have never found this little hidden gem of a tasting room without my Yelper friend Michelle M. Good thing I trust her, since we met on Yelp, only real people with real pictures are on Yelp LOL! I'm pleasantly surprised at how tasty the wines are, and the grapes are grown right there in Suisun City - shut the front door! There's a bocce ball court and nice outdoor seating with a spacious patio. I bet this place is totally hoppin' in the Summer time with live music. The tasting room itself is quaint. I made the trek on a rainy day from Marin to come kick it with my friends, and it was totally worth it. Suisun Valley is coming up, watch out Napa! Luckily for us this place is open late on Fridays. This was my second visit in a week, this time with my best friend and auntie. We were helped by a worker named Ley and she treated us special -- taking extra time to explain the layout of the property, the wines and pastries in depth, and went over and beyond to go outside to take our photo, hold my purse, and lent a hand to walk my best friend down the hill. I couldn't believe that this was only Ley's second day working at the bar. I'm so thankful for her service because little did she know that this visit was right after someone close to us passed away. BackRoad Vines really lives up to their name! I came with a group of friends on a late Friday evening because thankfully BackRoad is open until 8pm on Fridays year round, which is a rarity in and of itself. One of my friends lives in the area and was enticed to become a wine club member here, so since she was a member we all got our wine tasting for free we were definitely game! Just my kind of place right? BackRoad Vines is really off the beaten path on the small side street of Julian Lane, but it's not too far off of Suisun Valley Road main driving artery off if Interstate-80. Be careful if you miss a turn because you will miss this tasting room! But once we did arrive, we found a lovely small house surrounded by a vast property which included picnic tables lit with overhead strings of lights and two huge bocce ball courts. All they needed to do was turn on their heat lamps on their deck. The irony is the house that houses the tasting room is really small because it's basically a kitchen and living room, and on a cold fall night, it could get congested with people wanting to try out and buy some of their wines, which it did They were in the midst of decorating for the holidays so things did seem a bit out of joint for them. But the crew including owner Jody and associates Kerensa and Christina were so outgoing and friendly that they made us all feel as if we were club members. In fact, well after we were done tasting wine, we just sat around and shot the breeze for a while as we ate some brie cheese and charcuteries from the customer fridge they happen to sell on site. It's that kind of low-key welcoming place. What we did try, thanks to my friend Michelle, was their Signature Tasting which included five tastings of their Sauvignon Blanc 2015, California Cab Sauvignon 2014, Napa Cabernet Sauvingon 2014, Quattro NV, and the Mule NV. Although all five wines tasted great, I especially loved the Quattro and Mule wines were some of the smoothest and subtlest red wines I have drunken in quite some time. And the bonus was both of those wines and the Sauvignon Blanc were grown right there in the Suisun Valley. (Who needs that Napa Valley stuff anyway?) I love the smallish old school vibe at BackRoad Vines, hidden in this rustic setting, they are a far step away from the big chain wineries (and you won't find them at any shelf at Bevmo or Total Wines & More that's for sure!) They proudly create their wines by their own two hands by picking the grapes, harvesting in smaller batches, to even applying the labels (which I saw a ton of on the kitchen counter). At BackRoad there's nothing but the best quality for their fans and I now consider myself one of them! read more

Off the not so busy main road and not far from the two other wineries nearby, towards the very end of the road there lies this quaint home amidst a vast amount of land. I ask myself am I in the right place? Oh yes I am because as you're driving down Julian Rd a sign indicates you are headed in the correct direction. Backroad Vines Winery. Walking in, I immediately felt that I was in someone's home, kitchen almost all ready for the holidays. Except for the fact there were displays of their wines, the line up of wine glasses calling me over for the tastings. This is a winery after all, a fairly new one to myself and has only been out here since Mother's Day of this year. On forward to the wine tasting. $10 for tasting fee of the five wines they have to showcase and fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. Usually the case for most wineries I've been to. The lady behind the counter who was very pleasant (Melody??) and helped me out even gave me a pour of a wine not included in the tasting list. I ended up purchasing that along with one on the list. They have something for everyone from the whites to reds and the red blends. Even the most discriminative of palates can possibly find one even for a table wine. By far, another gem added to the Valley with an awesome,informative staff to partake with about the up and coming, recommendations on dining and other hidden treasures that this local needs to go hunt down and Yelp on. :) Can't wait to make the short drive here again and try out more!
