Update: Dr. Leonakis is a scammer, full of lie from his mouth. The CT scan is not a preferred service for basic care. Insurance company rejected the claim because the CT scan was took not conjunction with further implant. Insurance will happy to answer all of your questions, and you don't have to be a dental professional to call insurance to inquire your questions.According to other dental professionals, CT scan is for implant only( CT scan is rarely requested for wisdom teeth extraction, but it happens on some difficult cases ) My oral health not as bad as Dr.Leonakis's imagination. After Dr. Leonakis's office visit, I went to other two dentists, none of them required CT scan for diagnosis to me. Dr. Leonakis sounds like his office is more advanced because he has the CT scan machine. He is a liar, my orthodontist and other general dentists have it too, they just don't abuse of power to request CT scan on unnecessary situation. What is an unethical practice of a dental practitioner ?The practitioner recommends treatment that the patient REALLY does not need , nor could it be justified = 'overtreatment'. Since the hygienist told me that I have deep pockets and bone loss on my molar and premolar. It is weird, my bone and pockets only have issues in Dr. Leonakis DDS. The hygienist only wants to convince me to pay additional money for deep cleaning. In the reality, other dentists' review,( peer review) My pockets are remains in 1-3mm( health range) and I have strong bone to hold my teeth. And dishonest diagnoses happened to their other patients too, there is a Facebook group" Carson community", Dr. Leonakis's reputation is notoriously bad, no one recommends him at all. Dr. Leonakis was too aggressive for money. The reason for the hygienist skip my polish is because she is lazy, and try to work less. Bleeding gum won't be a established excuse to skip work. My previous and my new hygienist and dentist never skip it and told coronal polish will demand brace. If you were a well educated and experienced dental professional, it is very basic to hold instruments and ultra sonic steadily, and instruments and ultra sonic are not toys, you need to put proper focus and attentions on it to avoid causing further problems. Coronal polish will damage brace is a lies. Braces are only on Buccal - The cheek-side of the tooth, coronal polish still could happen on Lingual - The part of the tooth that is faced to the tongue side. If the hygienist not lazy, she will have already preformed it on lingual surface that nothing related to my brace. Polish won't damage brace, instruments, sonics are not likely to separate braces and damage, delay ortho treatment. I have my brace on me for more than two years, and I had my cleaning done every 3-4 month. If coronal polish will damage things and it is a established excuse to skip work, then how come other dental office never caused damage on me? It is advisable that disputes be brought to the Peer Review Committee as soon as the patient or the dentist recognizes that there is a problem. If you are interested in initiating a peer review, please contact the Southern Nevada Dental Society at (702) 901-1495. I won't delete my comments here, even Dr.Leonakis want to refund me, I won't accept it.

I can't tell you how many times Dr Coombs had to come in his office on weekends and other late appointments because my permanent bottom bridge came off and he had to re-cement it The last time I was sitting in his office on a Saturday after he just got back from Lake Tahoe. We had a heart-to-heart discussion and he told me it was time to take action. So it began, 10 months of treatment procedures, and all kinds of handholding and Support. Dr. Coombs is not only a very gifted and talented dentist, but he is one of the kindest and most compassionate dental providers you could ever meet. He and his wife, Dr. Brewer are the perfect team, if it's possible to have enjoyable dentistry, believe me they make it like that. Their Staff is amazing my hygienist Gina Spence has been cleaning my teeth for 23 years, that's how long I have been with this practice, finally, I have completed the process and now I just have a few adjustments, but my teeth are gorgeous. I needed to find a new dentist as my old one of 20 years does not take my new insurance plan. This place takes all sorts of dental insurance and will show you a cost spreadsheet of the real costs so there's no surprises. The staff here is super accommodating and knows their stuff. The dentist Dr. Graber was friendly and let me know exactly what was gonna happen. I came in for an initial exam as a new patient. X-rays were done digitally and the resolution was so clear on the screen! They even have a super mini camera that takes a vid of your teeth close up so the doctor and YOU can see what's going on. He explained and showed me everything. I needed a new crown and a filling replaced. I was shown in detail on the screen what it looked like exactly and shown the cracks even on the old filling, so I knew it was really there. The filling was painless to replace and the crown was gonna be made right there in the office on this high tech digital machining device. No waiting a few weeks for a dental lab to make the crown and then come back again to have it installed. Ok, there's a $75 charge to do it the same day in the office, but that's well worth it! The crown went in easy, the machine took maybe 45 min to make it. I watched the doctor program the machine on the screen with a digital image of my teeth. My old dentist wasn't THIS high tech! I walked out with a new crown and filling and my insurance covered it all, except $75 to use that fancy crown making machine. Now I have cleanings scheduled here too. I like going to the dentist now!

I knew I would have to establish things being new in town so I went through all the tests regular x-rays,the full head x-rays the regular exam by the dentist and a tooth by tooth exam rating each one, NO! Cavities YAY! this was a long process just to get a normal cleaning which wouldn't have been done today anyway because I have to be established! first. It was suggested I should have a deep cleaning / scaling no big deal, I had a choice to make whether I wanted that procedure done. I waited while they checked with my insurance coverage, after waiting about 20 minutes the Office Assistant returned stating that my insurance would not cover the deep cleaning, this was the first time using this dental insurance since I moved out here. So all in all my exam was good no major problems so I decided to just do the normal cleaning. So this is where it takes a turn after being there an hour just to get through the process of being a new patient I was informed that I can't get my regular cleaning like any normal patient I must do the deep cleaning before I can get my (standard teeth cleaning) no! choice! for $1,500.00 I have Never! seen anything like this, anytime you have a medical procedure done you have a choice whether to do it or not. I chose to just to schedule a regular cleaning and I was told I can't do that I must have the $1,500.00 procedure done first. (I CAN"T GET A NORMAL TEETH CLEANING). P.S. I have been going to my old dentist for 10 years twice a year without any problems till today.

No complaints there. My problem is with the company. I thought they were a new, local outfit who could get me in quick because they hadn't yet built a clientele. I was unaware that Aspen Dental is a nationwide, 1,000+ location corporate/franchise dental chain with.....a reputation. I had an initial consultation and talk with the dentist about what I want done. I'm then brought into a little office in the back, wait a few minutes, where I'm then presented with financing options, dental savings account option, and billing options to pay for my $10K 'treatment plan, yadda yadda. I'm sure I need a ton of work done - no question there! But why are they trying to sell me financing upfront to pay for it? Then negotiating, 'Well what can you pay right now?' It seemed less like a dental office more like a high-pressure car sale. Every other dentist I've been to you pay the receptionist as you go....you don't pay in advance. I found the experience odd but wrote it off. I haven't been to the dentist in years, so maybe this is how they do it now? I arrive for my first visit after that initial consultation, and I'm given a Sonicare electric toothbrush and a Waterpik. I thought it was a gift - some sort of promotional handout being a new dental office in town. Because in the high-pressure loan negotiating room, there was no mention of these items..... A few days later, I get a call from unnamed/untitled person through work who wants to go over "oddities" in the dental plan. One of which was $199.00 for the toothbrush and Waterpik. "Oh, I didn't realize I was charged for that - I thought it was a promotional giveaway." Just really shady that this $200 expense was never mentioned - especially when I had told them I already had a Sonicare toothbrush and Waterpik. Other strange & unusual pricing structures exist in this 'treatment plan' that unnamed person and I are reviewing - why are they performing everything insurance doesn't cover first, for example. Also, Some things being billed separately, when they'd typically be billed as a single, slightly discounted cost. Seems they're trying to artificially increase the cost, but I'm not an expert.... I'm not going back to Aspen Dental because review sites do not rate them particularly well. Check Yelp, Pissed Consumer, the BBB, there are YouTube videos of people reviewing them, etc. (I'm unsure if Google reviews can be scrubbed, but their Google rating is substantially higher than any other site I've seen. Weird). They have a 1.7 out of 5 with 2,700 reviews on PissedConsumer, for example! A 1 out of 5 on the BBB! Others report they use cheap dental appliances and materials that wear out or don't fit correctly, overcharge customers, insist on predatory and high-interest financing options, there have been numerous class-action lawsuits, and other issues. I'm not paying $10K, going through pain and time, to get crappy fillings and a Chinese made implant that might wear out in a year. Again, no complaints about the hygienist or dentist at this particular location. They were professional, kind, didn't cause undue pain. I'm just not interested in supporting a corporate, nationwide dental chain that, based on reviews and lawsuits, engages in questionable dental and business practices.
