Smog Check Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR)

I went to do a smog test for the first time and I did not know that a CEL (check engine light) is an instant fail for a smog test. However the owner went through with the smog test and charged me the service of $59.75 for a smog inspection and allowed me to do a retest for $10.00 dollars. Not sure why he went through the inspection even though the car was not going to pass because of the check engine light. Upon coming back to the store to take the smog test again, my dad questioned him about the check engine light and he lied and said there was no check engine light. I have proof the picture of the inspection report stating "P0420-Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1" which comes up when your check engine light is on. I'm not sure why he needed to lie to my father about that but very disappointed with the dishonesty.

I came to get my smog check on a Friday morning, and there was only one car ahead of me. The owner was nice and told me it'll just take 10-15 minutes before he can work on my car. The whole process was quick and easy! Costed $58 and I received the printout/receipt with clear instructions at the end. Very professional! I'll definitely come back to get my smog check done here in another two years. FYI: his business is the one in the far end of the lot. read more

I called to get a quote and they were five buckets cheaper than a nearby place in Granada hills so I decided to go with G and A. My test was $50 out there door which includes sending the results to the dmv. I could have saved another $5 with the Yelp check in offer but I forgot to check in while I was still there. It was super quick, he was finishing up with another test when I got there, my test only took about 15 minutes and that was it. Friendly service, definitely would recommend them. read more

Got in and out of G and A in record time. I got my smog check and certificate as requested. Price is less than what I paid at a place on Reseda. My 1987 BMW needs a smog check soon. It's a challenge. The other machine takes a while. But, I know I will get good service here and will be back. George is cool. read more

Called the owner same day, today and the owner said the wait was less than 15 mins. When I got there, I was able to get my smog check done quick. George is a very friendly owner and explains things thoroughly. Definitely would recommend getting your smog check done here and $5 off with a Yelp check in. Certified Smog check shop. Shop is in the same complex as of Automotive Instincts I was able to go to triple A same day and get my car registration done. Thank you! read more

I utilized Yelp's quote service and received a super-fast response from G and A. They are located close to my worksite. If you're going north on Lindley, it's right by the railroad tracks but before Parthenia. They are on the east side of the street tucked away in an array of auto repair shops in the back corner. George was very friendly and efficient. It only took 10-15 minutes and I was on my way with my DMV required paperwork submitted electronically. Make sure you utilize your Yelp check-in for $5 off! Some places (I found out through the Yelp quote service) won't take older vehicles like my 1998 truck...but George does! I'll be back the next time I need a smog test. George is awesome! Bought an old van off a private seller, needed it to pass smog to get registered! Came here and George tested me, showed me exactly what I needed to do. I left, quick trip to my mechanic to clean some dirtyyyy parts, drove to Thousand Oaks & back to get the codes to all read. Pulled back in, tested & passed!!! Woohoo!! George was so nice and I felt safe and not scammed (for all my fellow no-knowledge car girlies out there). My van battery died twice while I was there and he was quick to help and didn't make me feel bad about it even though it did slow him down a little. Thank you George!!! My second time coming here and have been extremely happy with their service. Quick and hassle free experience. It's last garage on left side inside Lindley Auto Center. No appointment needed. Arrived early morning Saturday and entire experience took 10-12 minutes. All paperwork is submitted to DMV electronically and you just pay your registration at the DMV or online. Smog test cost $50. Make sure to use your Yelp check-in offer for extra $5 discount. Definitely will be coming here for my future smog tests. read more

Just yesterday, my check engine light came on again, and after running diagnostics, Ray explained that the system was detecting vapor from the refueling area and that I likely just needed to tighten my gas cap. He could have easily charged me for unnecessary work, but instead, he gave me the correct guidance--and didn't charge me a thing. He has even helped me with small things, like replacing the battery in my key fob, at no cost. Ray is the kind of mechanic everyone hopes to find--skilled, fair, honest, and genuinely committed to taking care of his customers.
