It looks like this is leaving. That's right going out of business. Want to say thank you, to the nice employees. They've helped me to find DVD's or video games. To their credit the pricing was always competitive. I'm not sure the corporate folks adjusted to the economy or market changes. My appreciation for a good run. It's been at Fair Oaks for years. I also was happy that they had Domokun merchandise here. For those not familiar with him, he's a very funny character from Japan. Definitely don't give him apples to eat. 5/2/21 Looking around the store, I remember when most merchandise was music and movies . This has obviously changed and as streaming and downloading movies picks up more and more (especially during this Coronavirus Pandemic) FYE may go the way of the Dodo and Conor MacLeod from Highlander Endgame. I am now in the tv series section and the first thing I see is ER. I seasons 1-11 plus the final season which is number 15. Pretty damn good. I see breaking bad, but I never saw the all of it. I know I am missing out. Walter White goes from a chemistry teacher to a hardened killer and drug dealer. I also saw Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I see Arrow and at the time, I was only able to see 5 seasons of it on Netflix. Three more seasons to go. This plays has a number of clientele in it. The mall has picked up dramatically since the first shutdown caused by the Coronavirus Outbreak. The only difference are people wearing masks. Glad Fye is still around. read more

I am glad stores like FYE still exist. Yeah I know everything is super easy these days with instant streaming but I love my physical media players and you can get used Blu rays for cheap here. This would be another ZERO star review. Sure, they might have a cheap DVD or CD you were looking for - but let me warn you about how their financial d-baggery and lame customer service will scare you off forever. I bought a cheap 9 dollar CD, and the cashier - Myriam - asked if I wanted to "open an FYE membership to save 10% today". I politely declined, and she said, "Oh, it's free," so I said, "Ok, fine." She asked for my name, address, email, and phone number, then gave me my card and had me sign my receipt and member slip. I noticed that she didn't really let me read anything - it was just "Oh and sign HEREEEE..." *pointing down to the dotted line* So I made a note to double-check this at home. Lo-and-behold that FYE's "backstge VIP pass" or whatever lame BS name they call it - actually charges you $12 per month because it's only a 30-day-trial. I called the customer service number (1-877-351-2131) to cancel (and they're only open on M-F/9am-11pm) so I called FYE to ask why and how I was told this was "Free" - when clearly - it isn't... A guy named Mike answered and he said, "It's free for the first 30 days" - I asked to speak to the manager. He said he is the manager. I said they shouldn't let they're employees mislead or lie to their customers about membership deals. He apologized profusely. But you can bet I won't be returning, and I'll be warning everyone I know NOT to go here. read more

This store lied to me and signed me up for a subscription I didn't want. They asked if I wanted to join the Backstage Pass program and told me it was free, and so I said sure if it is free, but lo and behold there was a monthly charge on my credit card bill the next month. Absolute scam, I ended up having to cancel my entire credit card just to cut these scammers loose. DON'T shop here...but if you insist on shopping here DO NOT give them your credit or debit card information!!! read more

Visited this place twice so far and I must say it's fairly impressive. I'm comfortable to say that it has better selection of entertainment products than some of the other comic book stores out in NOVA. Kinda wish there were more FYE around Fairfax VA. read more

If you find yourself like me last week, looking for the latest album from your favorite new band, you gotta checkout FYE....seriously though there's no where else. Last week, I went to a concert at Wolf Trap, what an awesome venue and a great experience. So I had to go and find the CD. Tried to go to Walmart...nothing...Best Buy...guy told me that they stopped selling CDs four months ago...Target...had Kidz Bop, Now and a few soundtracks....nothing. My last option and the only one that came through was FYE. It was like a trip down memory lane, heading to the mall and looking through racks of music. Found it! Also picked up some classics for good deal, 4 CDs for less than $30. The team there also showed me their In house CD burning station, pretty cool! Hope these guys keep doing it! read more

They have been stealing my money since 2017. I will NEVER give my business to these people ever again and I hope they die out as a business. It all started with their in store card, I signed up for it being told by numerous people it's free. I used to buy a lot of pop figures from this particular location. They told me I'd be getting some free magazines and that was that. Then a few months later I'm getting charges on my account for these "free magazines" nbd i call the magazine subscription and have them cancel everything and refund the money. Flash forward and entire year to today and they charge me an outrageous $60 for magazines I cancelled and don't want. I have to sit and call a call center who even knows where to have them tell me again this is all from the mess two years ago. It's frustrating to have to keep fighting them from taking money from me year after year because FYE is dishonest and sketchy. Also this should have been canceled over a year ago! read more

I will say that F.Y.E. does have a lot of movies that you can't find at Best Buy and would have to maybe get online as well. However, I also like the idea of being able to trade in movies for store credit to use at F.Y.E. What I am not really impressed about this particular location is that whenever you go in and have something you would like to trade in there is a hesitation from the staff. As in "well, I guess I can help you." This has happened several times to not only me, but also some of my friends as well. read more

Less than impressed. Not very customer oriented as far as trying to make sure you're happy. No one is gonna go the extra mile here, that's for sure. Wanted to purchase a gift for a friend but the items in boxes are often in beat up condition and swapping a box is apparently a sin to this location. You have to either accept the beat up box and a perfect item or a pristine box and an imperfect item. You absolutely can not swap it so you can present your recipient with a perfect item in a pristine box. Maybe I'm too picky but moving on.... I've worked in customer service and sales and we always would do a swap out gladly so long as the item was identical and the SKU was the same and there was no tape or anything holding the box closed. There was not in this case. Had I not been polite and asked and instead just swapped them out myself they'd of never known the difference. Didn't want them to think I was stealing though so I asked. That said, most of the CDs here are overpriced so I opted to buy a gift online instead. The item I wanted to purchase originally was the same price online anyway. I probably won't come back because it's nothing special. And their unwillingness to cater to the customer leaves a sour taste in my mouth. read more

The store itself is a fun place to shop. But the store manager In here makes for the one star review. I have been in here several times to shop and have seen him be very sarcastic and rude to customers. He also reprimands his employees in front of customers which is extremely disturbing and unprofessional. He is all around reluctant to help and makes it very clear that he hates his job. I had a negative experience at FYE that seemed like it could have been easily avoidable. I had purchased a new vinyl record, and discovered that the vinyl record was damaged. I took the record back in to attempt to get it exchanged for the exact same item. I just wanted one that wasn't damaged. FYE did not have a replacement item. The employee (gentleman with a hat and buttons) was rude and disrespectful. He said several things that were condescending, at one point saying something to the effect of "What's even wrong with this? I don't want to refund this. You know what I'm gonna do with this? I'm going to take it and break it and throw it away." Eventually I was able to get a refund, but I consider the exchange to be completely inappropriate. I've worked a ton of retail jobs myself, so I understand the desire to avoid any deductions. Regardless, there's no reason that we can't communicate and treat each other with basic respect. read more

So i just Left this Store probably about 20 minutes ago on December 2nd 2018 so the Manager will know who i am :)... we Walk in At 5:50 unaware of the time they close. We ask a store clerk what time they close he says 6:30. Ok so we head to the back to look at some shirts. 10 mintes later , Marc the manager comes and stand about 2 feet from us and stares at us with his arms crossed. He tells us the shirts are on sale, leaves for 5 seconds then comes back to stand and stare again. I ask him "is there a reason your standing there watching us?" He replied rudely "yes because were closed, I'm hungry and want to go home!, we closed 6 minutes ago" Meanwhile he looks like he's always hungry. We were immediately turned off. As a manager you announce throughout the store that the store is closing. You don't stand there and stare at me like I'm some circus freak. I had to leave the store to prevent me from giving him every piece of my mind. My boyfriend comes out the store from making his purchase and says he got smart with him again! He also stood behind him with his arms crossed like a bodyguard as he's paying for his stuff!! The shit was outrageous ! I got racist vibes from him but tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. I have never been overcharged, or found any videos that were priced excessively high. Yes, some of them might be $2.00 or $5.00 more than they are at the local Walmart, but please keep in mind that FYE is an entertainment shop that relies on the money it brings in from the sale and resale of CDS, DVDS, and other related items. It's not a department store that has tons of different items, so it needs to charge a tiny bit more to cover its overhead costs such as paying employees, the cost of renting the store space, the electric bill, and the climate control that keeps you from roasting or freezing while you shop. read more

It wasn't a terrible visit but it needs some work done. Smaller music collection I have seen in a n FYE, but then again it is the smallest FYE I have ever seen too. The service was what needed work. There was only one gentlemen there and I went to get him when I was ready, but instead of checking me out since I was originally the only one up there he checked out someone who appeared as I was getting him to check me out. I didn't really think that was very good service, but I also don't think it is something to make a scene about so I didn't. read more

I've never had an issue with the store, but going to cancel their "vip membership" thing was the BIGGEST pain. First of all, I was not made aware there would be a charge after the 30 day trial until I got home. Then find out you can't cancel the membership online, you HAVE to call and speak with someone, who only works Monday-Friday during their business hours. (not convenient if you work the same hours) Anyways, I was able to talk with someone today who began to tell me ALL their benefits in where to use this card. After I said I wasn't interested he then said he could drop the monthly fee to $4.95. Nope, still don't want it. Finally when he understood, he copped a tude, gave me my cancellation number, said have a nice day, and hung up. My issue is that if I want to cancel something, I should be able to go online to do so, or not have to be hassled over the phone. read more
