First off I'm grateful to have it. Have the new Athlon Sports NFL season guide. Here I can digest draft info, free agent signings, and what the outlooks for the franchise's is. Am not surprised that the cost has gone up, but we are living in an era of inflation. Actually got a decent bargain on a history book about Incas. That should be excellent reading. This is a nice store. They used to have more, but writing seems to be on E devices. I'm guilty so it's not their fault. The employees here are very polite and helpful. It's also a fairly well organized store also. I sometimes enjoy reading a book here, with a nice cup of coffee. It's a comfortable spot, and for this I'm grateful.

Procrastination got me back at B&N, came in looking for Squigz and Bananagrams to purchase as gifts. After scouring the shelves for half an hour, I only found Bananagrams. Too tired to keep looking, I end up buying Tegu's Magnetic Wooden Blocks. Once at checkout my tab came up to 130+, didn't realize Tegu toys cost two arms and legs. But by renewing membership, I saved a bit getting a second set for my son.

The Borders Books in Kamp Washington/Fairfax is my favorite chain bookstore. But sometimes I will pop into this Barnes & Noble as it is a bit closer to me. I always have a hard time finding stuff in this store - things are weirdly organized - don't know if it is just this location, Barnes & Noble in general, or I am just whacked out - but I almost ALWAYS need help from someone at the Information Desk. The other thing I don't like is the breadth and depth of their book offerings in the Nature/Ecology section. It is significantly smaller than what the local Borders offers. I was looking for a book today on Virginia Wineries - I have a fairly old book on this subject - and I wanted to see what, if anything was available with newer information. B&N could not find anything - which should not be a surprise. As far as I can tell - the last time a book was published on Virginia wines - was in 2002. It seems like it's easier these days to keep up on Virginia wineries via the internet! I came across an unexpected delight - a book entitled: "Weird Virginia - Your Travel Guide to Virginia's Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets." I perused it and decided I needed to read this! I also picked up the current issues of Archeology, Renaissance, Backpacker, and Outside Magazines. There is also a Starbucks coffee shop inside of the B&N - I think this is the norm for all B&N's.

Yes, the books are generally more expensive in physical bookstores than buying them online, but I try to read one at the café and buy a couple so that they stay in business.

Not sure what's going on with these stores but the one in Springfield is gone, and this one has had…read moreno inventory last time I went. I asked if they're going to close for good but the cashier said no. Mind you, I've seen several different cashiers here throughout the years. They used to have lots of books in the back but now that is closed off. There is hardly anything there and last time it was sorta full was during Christmas time. I think if they're going to close, they should just have a big sign instead of shutting down without warning. Lots of people could use the savings on toys for kids.

Either way, Colgate is happier being in our home, than by herself.    I carried Colgate around the store  while my wife was shopping.  When she and her friend were ready to leave, it was clear I was going to by Colgate. Guess my wife turned me on to stuffies.  I now own three. Two from Build A Bear and one from Go Calender.    Speaking of which, we do need a new calendar, but it will have to be one we both like.  I did not care for the NFL calendars I saw.  The ones I saw were not my team. I am glad we stopped by this store. We will have to do it again.

To their credit the pricing was always competitive. I'm not sure the corporate folks adjusted to the economy or market changes. My appreciation for a good run. It's been at Fair Oaks for years. I also was happy that they had Domokun merchandise here. For those not familiar with him, he's a very funny character from Japan. Definitely don't give him apples to eat. It is another retailer that is on the exit. I wish the employees success elsewhere, as they were fun and helpful. Tis a shame, but maybe GameStop or other companies will pick up the slack.

This has obviously changed and as streaming and downloading movies picks up more and more (especially during this Coronavirus Pandemic) FYE may go the way of the Dodo and Conor MacLeod from Highlander Endgame. I am now in the tv series section and the first thing I see is ER. I seasons 1-11 plus the final season which is number 15. Pretty damn good. I see breaking bad, but I never saw the all of it. I know I am missing out. Walter White goes from a chemistry teacher to a hardened killer and drug dealer. I also saw Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I see Arrow and at the time, I was only able to see 5 seasons of it on Netflix. Three more seasons to go. This plays has a number of clientele in it. The mall has picked up dramatically since the first shutdown caused by the Coronavirus Outbreak. The only difference are people wearing masks. Glad Fye is still around.
