We catered Furiwa for our wedding back in Nov 2022 for 300 guests. They are one of the top asian (chinese/vietnamese) catering company in Orange County and know what they are doing and got it Down! When i emailed Furiwa to learn some more information about them, Victoria responded to me and she was our go to since then til the wedding day. Right off the bat, Furiwa is not like the other vendors who reply DAYS later. Victoria replied back sometimes within minutes if not next day at the latest. Their communication was TOP NOTCH. Not only was V helpful with the catering aspects but other little details on the wedding planning, she is very knowledgeable as well. They host tasting parties for prospective couples who booked with them so you can try out the menu. They take notes of what you liked/dislike about it and cater to your taste on the actual day of the wedding which i appreciated. Our guests told us they enjoyed the food and we also thought it was tasty and the portion was great!!! Enough to go around and then some! Bonus : They allow and provide togo containers to pack the leftovers! You know how asians guests are.... this is key lol You get what you pay for, go with Furiwa.

Super fast service. I ordered the whipped taro and the cold dish platter. 5/5 for both. The whipped taro was soooo amazing. I don't know how they make this so delicious. Sweet and tasted like candy. The cold dish was beautifully presented. Lots of meat and sauces!

Food was a priority for my husband and I when planning for our wedding - we couldn't even start looking at venues until we knew who we would be booking for catering since it could affect where we'd be able to book the wedding. We knew we wanted to have the traditional 8 course meal of Chinese-Vietnamese dishes for our 200+ guests without having our wedding at a banquet hall. We had heard of Furiwa from our friends who had booked them for their wedding and so looked into them as well. We loved the dish options that they offered. Also, Vivian was so great to work with during the planning process; very friendly, professional, and responsive to emails! The tasting event that they hosted helped us to really fine tune our menu. They also allowed our planner to come with us to the tasting to help us out, which was a bonus! The hors d'oeuvres, the courses, the late night congee bar on the day of our wedding were so so good and everything we could have wished for. Our parents loved the food as well, even had some of the leftovers the next day and still thought it was delicious. All of our guests also raved about the food and were so full by the end of it, which is a win in our book! We're so glad we went with Furiwa for our wedding day!

5 stars all around, a truly excellent establishment. Service is wonderful. Food is exceptional. Hubs and I were starving and craving shu mai and XLB. Furiwa is a 2 minute drive from our house. The last time we ate their food was at my best friend's wedding to Long N (below) in 2018 at the restaurant, prior to the transition to catering. I called and spoke to Vivian, she was so sweet and helpful, directing me to order online and prepay at the website. We got there, masks on, and the pick up experience was exceptionally safe. Since this pandemic is impacting us all, safety is paramount. All the food was packaged separately and Vivian was masked up and gloved up and came and greeted us and put our food in the car. We were lucky enough to get home within two minutes again and everything was still piping hot, fresh off the stove. We ordered garlic noodles, orange chicken, fried shu mai, XLB, and sesame balls. All the food was was tender and flavorful and we do not have any leftovers. The garlic noodles were my favorite, they were cooked to perfection and delicately seasoned. Husband can't decide whether he liked the XLB or the shu mai more. The orange chicken is among the best I've ever tasted, not too mild, not too sweet, not too hot, and perfectly proportioned. And for dessert, the sesame balls were delicious. It's been ages since I've had them. They were hot and crispy filled with sweet red bean. We will definitely be ordering from them again, this time with our parents and extended family in mind.

UPDATE: this business reported my initial review and had it taken down under the claim that my "content [didn't] look like [it] depicted an experience at this location." Well I added a screenshot of my order with "Furiwa Catering" as the place I ordered from. Can't get anymore clear than that! It's a shame that furiwa can't appropriately address this issue!! See my actual review below: "I just ordered dim sum to go and literally just got done dumping everything in the TRASH!!! I paid $88 including tip and this is what I received: 1) uncooked and raw shu mai flight; 2) uncooked and raw shrimp and chive dumpling; 3) bland congee; 4) bland tripe and 5) bland rice roll with pork belly. I will NEVER order from or dine in this place ever again! I've already filed a complaint and requested a refund from Uber eats. This is extremely irresponsible for a restaurant to not do quality control. We had a few bites before realizing the food had been undercooked and raw. This is extremely frustrating and I pray we don't get sick due to this restaurant's lack of care and concern for their patrons."

Food brought us together, so for our wedding, there was one thing that we knew that we would prioritize over all else - the food! We researched venues, asking about the option for a Chinese banquet, and were referred to Furiwa by one of the hotels that we looked into. We found out that if we wanted to have a Chinese banquet at a hotel venue for our wedding, we would have to go through Furiwa. Our parents had very specific dishes in mind based on traditions so we had to entirely customize the menu. Luckily, our Furiwa contact was Vivian who was super fun, friendly, responsive, and professional. She worked with us to accommodate our parents' "special" requests. Once we finalized the menu, we scheduled a tasting with Furiwa. Vivian sat us at an intimate table where we were served the sweetheart portions of our customized menu and checked with us on how we felt about every dish. The only thing that we weren't able to try was the roasted pig, which had to be ordered way in advance. The food was easily on par with or maybe even a step up from a nice seafood restaurant where you could get a Chinese banquet. The costs were reasonable and well worth the value for the experience of having banquet food outside of a Chinese restaurant setting. After that tasting, we knew that no matter which venue we chose, we wanted to pick a hotel that partnered with Furiwa. We picked the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort, where Vivian actually met up with us and the hotel staff to discuss the wedding. In fact, Vivian pretty much held our hand throughout the entire planning process. She felt like our wedding planner in that she helped us make decisions and recommended questions to ask the other vendors. We signed the contract, and everything seemed set until about a month later when COVID-19 hit. We decided to postpone the wedding for another year. Furiwa was flexible on rescheduling and gave us options to address safety concerns including individual plates, smaller tables, and outside dining. Due to COVID, we had less guests in attendance than anticipated. So, in the weeks before our wedding, Vivian contacted and met with us several times to discuss additional options to shift expenses to since we could not adjust the contract on such late notice. They let us adjust our open bar minimum and add appetizers, a roasted pig carving station, specialty cocktails, a tea station, a dessert bar, and an ice cream parlor instead. We received nothing but good feedback on the quality of the food. Our guests, like us, were all used to eating good food so they had a lot of high expectations. Furiwa was able to impress all of them on both flavor and quantity! Everybody raved about the pan fried scallop with spinach and steamed whole fish, but all of the dishes were home runs. Nobody left hungry at our wedding! The only complaint that we did receive from our guests was how quickly the food was taken away and how the leftovers were not packed, but we believe that was done by the venue due to health reasons and not the fault of the Furiwa staff. Food was the number one most important concern for our wedding. The good communication we had with Vivian was key to everything running so smoothly. The efforts we and Furiwa put into planning our wedding really made a difference. Overall, highly recommend Furiwa for your event!

Our menu - more cost effective than ordering individual plated meals through the venue

When my husband and I started planning our wedding, there were 2 things we prioritized - food and open bar. We knew we wanted to serve Asian food, so we did our research. We did a tasting with Furiwa and another well-known Chinese/Vietnamese food caterer in the area. Hands down, my husband and I both loved Furiwa's food, service, and overall experience better. We felt the food from the competitor was not as good and the owner was a bit pushy/overwhelming. From the start, Vivian was super sweet and easy to work with. She provided the various menus, which have per table costs, and it was nice because menus are customizable so we were able to remove the courses we didn't like, and add the ones we do. The tasting a great experience - they set up an intimate table for you, make you a nice serving of each dish, and packed up all the leftovers for us. We booked them that day. A few months later, the pandemic hit. Furiwa was flexible and let us move our date without any issues. They did inform us that due to the cost of rising food prices, they would need to increase our cost a bit as well, but given the circumstances, we felt this was fair. The overall price per person was still less than if we had served American food through the venue. We had no issues with Furiwa during our looooong wedding planning process. They were familiar with our venue, and accommodated all our requests to the best of their ability. We received so many compliments on the food. So many guests told us they were happy they didn't leave a wedding hungry for once. When we sat down, I shoveled so much food into my mouth - I looked like a chipmunk in several of my photos. No shame. I was so happy with the tender cubes of shaken beef, the crispy honey walnut prawns, savory house special lobster, and perfectly steamed fish. I don't know how they managed to make sure all the shaken beef was tender, but damn....it was so soft. The lobster meat came out of the shell easily so I didn't look so barbaric prying it out. The prawns were my favorite item, with the crunchy, glazed walnuts. I'm not sure what happened with the other reviewer with a poor experience, but my experience was quite the opposite. It didn't take much effort to work with them. My picky Vietnamese family members were happy, and my husband's Chinese family members were happy. I also thought it was a nice added touch that they provided menus in English, Vietnamese, and Chinese. The only bummer was that we weren't able to pack any leftovers to go, but that was due to rules set by our venue, not Furiwa (health code stuff). Also, when we expressed concerns over serving food family style (due to COVID), Furiwa offered an option to do individual plated meals. I think this may be a little pricier, but you have that option if you're concerned. We ultimately chose to stick with family style and it was fine. You could pay $200/person for steak/chicken, veggies, and a starch....or you could pay half that with Furiwa for a satisfying multi-course meal (we had 8 courses). Highly recommend Furiwa for your event!

Dim Sum Signature Platter, whipped taro, XLB Soup Dumplings, and rice roll with shrimp

For takeout yesterday. It would be my husband's birthday the next day and with everybody busy with courses at the university and commuting back and forth from the university for lab and work...it would be near impossible to celebrate and make his birthday special. We had ordered takeout from Furiwa to go in Irvine and thought to use the catering located in Westminster. While waiting for daughter to finish her doctor's appointment, I called to place the order over the phone. Vivian helped to take the order. As it is a catering service, she needed to ask for prepayment. She sent me a link to pay and it also allowed me to review the order of a Dim Sum Signature Platter, XLB dumplings, gai lan with oyster sauce, garlic string beans, rice noodle with shrimp, rice noodle with pork belly, Lo mai gai, crab asparagus soup, football, egg yolk buns (suggested by Vivian because peach buns were not available), and whipped taro which is purportedly a wedding dessert. They were busy in the kitchen when my daughter and I arrived about half an hour later. Vivian checked on our food and brought it out to us when it was ready. The Dim Sum Signature Platter serves a family well. The gai lan were very fresh and green. Real crab is used in the soup as evidenced by shell pieces. The footballs were perfectly shaped. We enjoyed them so much last time that we had to order them again. The whipped taro is very unique. We've never had anything like it. I like having it with pork because the saltiness of the meat can balance out the sweetness of the dessert. I enjoyed the ginkgo in the dessert. Thank you, Vivian and kitchen staff for helping us make my husband's birthday special!

FURIWA, WELCOME BACK INTO OUR LIVES!!! Many years ago, my family and I used to frequent Furiwa the restaurant for dim sum, lobster, noodles, honey walnut shrimp, you name it, we enjoyed it. Then two years ago, we stopped by and found out they were CLOSING. We watched with sad faces outside the window and they were essentially cleaning out the restaurant. We saw that they would have a food to go location, but we didn't know if that would be the same foods we enjoyed at their restaurant, or a new menu. Furiwa never left our minds, but we sadly had to settle for other restaurants in the area, which are no match for the high quality food we were used to eating. Finally, Christmas 2020 rolls around, COVID 19 pandemic in full swing, we were going to pick up food and eat it at home, we came up with the idea to look up Furiwa catering to see what they offered. To our complete and utter shock, they had lobster noodles, shaken beef, dim sum, and so many other items!!! We decided we definitely had to try it out. We ordered online, which was extremely user friendly and easy to place our order and pick up time. Christmas Eve we drive up and as we're about 30 minutes away, we hop back on the website and order dim sum! We figured we could scarf that down in the car before our drive back to SD. We arrived and found it tucked away in a little building next to a wedding venue. We were greeted by a friendly young lady and she promptly got us our orders. It was so quick and easy! We brought the lobster noodles back into the car and started splitting up the dim sum. WOW. I don't think we realized how much we missed their dim sum, but it was such a joy eating that meal and we were literally sitting in our car in the parking lot! Once we finally got home, we reheated the lobster noodles and feasted. The entire meal we were raving about how we missed this incredible combination of flavors, how meaty the lobsters were, and in general how much we enjoyed this meal! I am so happy we decided to try Furiwa catering, I cannot wait until our next meal!!!

The dumplings are huge, generously filled, and really satisfying for the price. The kids loved them, and the all-you-can-eat option makes it a fun experience for families or groups. The quality can be a little inconsistent at times and it's definitely more of a budget-friendly comfort food experience rather than a high-end dim sum restaurant, but overall the food is tasty, filling, and fairly priced. Service was friendly, the staff kept things moving, and there are a ton of different options to try. I jokingly described it as "kind of like a Sizzler for dumplings" -- not as an insult, but because there's a huge variety of food and it has that casual, family-style comfort food vibe. If you go in expecting luxury dining, this probably isn't the place. But if you want good portions, variety, and a relaxed atmosphere, it's definitely worth checking out.

Our server even brought the lobster out for a quick photo op before it was taken back to be prepared, which made the night feel a little more special. We ended up with around 12 main entrees plus some drinks, and the total was surprisingly affordable for the amount of food we ordered. Definitely a solid spot for group dinners and celebrations. Only downside is parking can be a bit tricky, especially on a busy weekend night, so plan a little extra time for that. Overall, would absolutely come back!

Luckily they serve dimsum (in carts) until 3PM. New dimsum favorite is their pork and shrimp roll - shaped like an eggroll. We got about 12 items and steamed rice for the table. My parents said their shumai is one of the best they've had. Shrimp hargow and other dumplings were good. The fried chicken was delish, especially the bed of pickled veggies underneath. The chicken feet is tender and flavorful. The honey walnut shrimp was great. The custard buns were delicious even the day after. The servers were so nice. So many of them taking turns asking what else we needed. Don't forget to ask for their hot mustard and some red vinegar. Nothing fancy about this place but it's a great bang for your buck. In December 2023 my sister who lives in HB harbor claimed this resto was too far for her but finally decided to have a big Christmas Birthday party and invited 30, 40 people, the manager was not there and my usual server was not there either so I asked and was shocked at the news although I expected it, the new owner told me he had closed on the purchase that day and would change the name to White palace but he would keep the chef and the manager David but that was not the case. To me the best Chinese restaurants were Furiwa and Seafood Paradise. It was sad they failed to understand that w today economy dominated by social medias and if they do not follow the trend, they would be out of business, I told David the manager but he was so confused about what I was talking about. Bad restaurants that spent money on social medias thrived beyond comprehension. My sister ordered the usual wedding menu, 10 courses w lobster, steamed fish, etc..I knew immediately it was a new chef, the lobster was flavorless, almost every course was bland but many people I know have hay fever and with severe sneezing sometimes they lose their sense of taste on top of being born w less taste buds, it can be a curse to have too many taste buds as I was skinny all my life from not being able to enjoy eating till I started cruising when in the old days, cruise ship chefs were of Michelin caliber. My sister threw another big bash on Chinese/VN new year 2-10-2024, again 10 courses dinner and again everything was bland, there was not even enough salt in the food. I made no comment when asked bc everybody seemed to like it so who was I to say anything and I wanted to support the new owner, the service was great so that was a plus. I came by many times for dim sum and was disappointed the menu was limited, my favorite items were no longer offered. On 1-18-2026 my cousin had a big party, she is the Cai Luong singer and impresario, if my count was correct there were 20 tables, 200 attendants and many performers. Unfortunately for $60 to $75 pp, they could only offered 5 courses as they had to pay the performers. Needless to say, I could only eat the walnut shrimp and fried fish, the fried rice was not at all edible, what were they thinking? no salt, very little egg, I sure did not get fat!. I think 3 stars are generous as I was frustrated w the meal, I had no idea what the lead singer was singing/screaming about so loud in Saigonese! Lol! The dude was a VN version of Liberace!. I was there to keep up w long lost relatives, I sadly found out one had just died and I was not able to find out what happened bc the sound system was not functioning properly, it was blasting so loud, I was almost deaf in both ears! It was impossible to know what all the performers were saying. The manager if you read this please fix it, I have no idea how any wedding can take place w zero sound system unless it just went kaput on that one day. I'll tell my cousin to check on this before booking here again. I can't believe they also bought another restaurant on Edinger, Santa Ana, maybe it's just me but I don't like the all white chairs and table, I worked all my life in hospital and I'm not a fan of all white furniture, The old Seafood paradise had beautiful romantic looking pink flowers, table cloth and beautiful comfortable chairs. I'm glad they seem to be doing great, good for them, I'm not going back here but I plan to go to their 2nd resto. Unfortunately HB and Little Saigon do not have very good Chinese restaurants, I miss Hong Kong and all the 5 stars hotel ayce buffets in, I'm looking forward to my VN trip w all the good food unfortunately Yelp has no presence in VN. My camera always eats first, I have about 10,000 pictures of food in my IPhone from all my cruises and trips around the world, I enjoy looking and relive all my culinary experience. Pl come back for my future review of the White palace #2.

A place of nostalgia & home to many core memories! My family and I used to come here all the time…read morefor birthdays and celebratory dinners, and it was also our go-to spot for morning dim sum back in the day. We don't come here for dim sum as much anymore since their second location opened, but I still think the dinner here is better. The menu is massive, and if I'm honest, everything you get, new or familiar, is likely going to be a banger. Over the years we've built a list of go-to dishes we almost always order: * House Special Squid * House Special Lobster * Peking Style Pork Chops * Peking Duck * Sautéed Ong Choy * Sautéed Pea Sprouts * House Special Bean Curd * French Style Beef * Kung Pao Chicken Everything comes out freshly made, generously seasoned, and perfect for sharing family-style around a big table. Sure, the restaurant might look a little worn around the edges, but that's part of the charm. The service is fast and friendly, and I love that many of the staff speak multiple languages. It makes the place feel welcoming for the diverse, multicultural families that gather here. If you're looking for a solid spot for a family-style Chinese dinner, this place has stood the test of time for us.

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing. (#2) At $15-19 for most dishes. (#3) Did we get lucky?

The green beans were also aâmzing, fresh, bright green, and not oily at all. Simple but cooked perfectly. My favorite surprise was the potato salad. It was so special and actually my first time trying this style. The crispy shredded potatoes were crunchy and flavorful, really unique and tasty! Overall: good food, fresh ingredients, and great flavors. Definitely coming back to try more dishes!
