Julie & her assistant are amazing! We had a grooming emergency, our pup was covered in burrs! He's a Standard Poodle, he a Brillo Pad! Sadly, we could not get them out, & only irritated him. He came out fluffy, soft & happy! Other groomers I called, really didn't care or understood the urgency, Julie did. Shes in this business for all the right reasons!
Julie is the best groomer for our Miniature Schnauzer Charlie! She is so kind and patient and does such an amazing job every time! We have been taking him to her for a few years now and even with his little quirks and areas where he is finicky, Julie is so patient and knows how to work with him to give him the best cut possible, and we know he trusts her which is so important! She works with our schedules and always makes time to take in our lil man, which is always much appreciated! He always smells so nice afterwards and his cut is always amazing! Once I found her I won't go anywhere else!
I had a very bad experience recently when Julie groomed my cat. He's a pure bred Ragdoll. I asked her if she could cut his hair. She said she could only do a "lion cut." I agreed that most groomers can't cut a cat and only lion cut. I said, "No worries, than just bathe him and blow him out and just brush him really well to get excess hair off." She said ok. When my husband got home with the cat he was butchered! She obviously attempted to cut him and his beautiful coat was jagged from the clippers. In addition, he had poop all over his butt! I left a voicemail but they never bothered to return my call. I've attached a photo that was taken "after" I tried to clean him up. Poor kitty!
I took my dog to Fur Real in Carlsbad, CA for a bath and haircut. I have a Saint Berdoodle. I was told that I would have to remove the few mats she had in her 6-7 inch curls. They rescheduled her for two weeks later. I spent $25 on a good dematter and worked on my dog over the two weeks I had to wait. I took her in this morning for her appointment and they said she wasn't on their schedule but they took her anyway. When I was called, seven long hours later, to pick her up, I almost started crying. I couldn't even figure out how someone could butcher my dog like they did. She looked like someone attempted to groom her with a pair of garden sheers. I have never seen a cut so uneven in my entire 71 years. My $70 quote (they saw her in person) turned out to be $120. I left the shop and went to another groomer to see what they would charge to attempt to correct her cut. The groomer did comment that it was a really bad cut. My dog layer down for belly rubs from the groomer and that was when we noticed her belly was bleeding in multiple spots. The groomer said that was from dull blades. She cleaned my pup up with peroxide and triple antibiotic ointment. I will take her back in two days and they will correct her cut. My poor baby went through 7 hours of torment. I asked the original groomer if she had a chance to go potty and poop during that time and I was told no. And from the amount of water she drank at the car I would say she didn't get any water either. I am urging anyone looking for a dog and cat groomer to think real hard about going here.
This is a local gem. A great mom and pop style local groomer that is reasonably priced and always pays attention to detail, kindly attends to your pet, and does great styles. I've heard of some crazy unfortunate stories from many friends and acquaintances whom have had bad grooms and I'm so happy Fur Real takes care of my baby girl every time!!
Very unhappy. Wouldn't recommend. Our dog is patchy with spots of long fur in random areas and now has cuts and scabs. His whole back is choppy, his toes have long fur and she completely shaved his whiskers off. His anus looks like it was burned by the clippers. We normally take our dog to Bark Bath & Beyond but they were booked up for a couple weeks. We brought our dog in to Fur Real at 10am and he was ready for pick up by 2. He is a little nervous so we give him trazadone prescribed by his vet before grooming which basically knocks him out. BB&B has never had an issue with him, they don't even use a muzzle. I don't know if it was Julie herself who groomed him but when we picked him up he was bleeding in a couple different spots. His ear and spots in both underarms. The biggest spot was on his underarm. We have to take him to his veterinarian to check that spot out because it's still bleeding and oozing days later. I WILL say I called Julie and she said she would reimburse us for the vet costs as long as we drove a copy of the receipt over to her. I am glad she is willing to take responsibility but will never be bringing our dog back or recommending her services to anyone. She said "I just did what you told me to do, to shave him down" I reminded her that I called her after drop off to remind her to just trim his fur but NOT shave it because it's been colder out. During that call she said oh yeah no problem. When we first rescued our dog he was covered in matting and I asked Bark, Bath & Beyond to shave him down, but even then they called me before to CONFIRM that it was okay to shave him. I would steer clear of Fur Real. Highly recommend BB&B in Oceanside

I'm really bummed to have to write this as I love supporting local businesses, but I just paid $65 for a bath for a small, 25 lbs dog. I went in and asked for a bath and nail trim and was told it would be 30 minutes before they could see him. He was placed in a kennel while he waited his turn, and I walked home. When I came back to pick him up, she informed me they were unable to trim his nails because he was too scared and even had to muzzle him. I was shocked when I was given my total of $65. I asked for clarification, and the woman said that is their standard rate for a bath. It would be one thing if my dog required brushing or trimming etc. but he is a little pup with a smooth coat. I would recommend asking for their prices upfront. I know I wish I would have. read more

Listen! Asked to just trim around her eyes and bath. Instead they trimmed all her nose hair off! WTH, that is not how you trim a doodle. I'll never go back. read more

My bichon-poo, Alfred, has been seeing Julie for 10+ years. Julie is very accommodating with appointments. Her shop is clean and welcoming. Prices are extremely reasonable. I know that my pup is being taken care of. Alfred always comes back looking dapper and I wouldn't take him anywhere else. read more

I have been here a few times and they have been okay i kept going back because of the price. I have a 60 lb golden retriever and i was hesitant to go back this time because the last time they trimmed his nail too short, i get it it happens. So i gave them another try. When I went, the lady in the front told me he was just there for a bath, I corrected her and said no he needs a TRIM chest, neck, tail and feet. I dropped him off at 9:30. They called me at 1:30 PM saying he was ready. when I picked him up the price was $20 extra than what I normally pay and he was completely shaven. At first I was obviously surprised, but just paid and went home. Once I got home, I realized just how bad this haircut is I NEVER asked them to shave my dog. goldens need that extra layer of hair that they took off for no reason. also not to mention ITS TERRIBLE totally uneven, I couldn't believe my eyes. This person is supposed to be a professional dog groomer? I was very surprised to know that they are able to let a dog walk out this way. Anyways wanted to share my experience. I thought they understood what I wanted but they very clearly didn't, so be careful when going here i would not recommend. read more

Just picked up my Cavalier from Julie - she looks great, perfect. Usually no one gets her right on the first try, but Julie was spot-on. She's a sweet, caring, lovely person; I felt quite comfortable leaving my "baby". On top of great service & good personality, she's very reasonable & I didn't have to leave her there all day - she was done right when promised. See you next month! read more

These cats are fur reel in their groovy pink grooming shop. Selling cool-kat items for your doggie and kitty-cat and Chia pets. They also do doggie day care so your cool-kat pup can have a rockin' day chillin' in the pink house. After all this is Leucadia where all things rule and art prevails....I want to live in a cool pink house too! read more

First off I love the name! It was my first time there. A little tucked away but easy to find. I have a Husky retriever who has one THICK coat of fur. I've tried grooming her myself but it's a never ending coat of fur! I dropped her off at 9am and was finished in a quick 2 hours! I was amazed! Just moved to the area and will definitely be a returning customer. read more
