They have them sit in adorable cars that keep them busy and have cartoons for them to watch to keep them additionally distracted. Nugget was in need of his summer "shark fin" cut before we move, so we had to head to Funky Scissors to get one last chop. We've been taking him here since he was a year old. When you walk in, you see bright colored walls, balloons, and a black and white tiled floor. There are also four "car" chairs, that your little can sit in to get a haircut and all the mirrors are equipped with televisions built in, so they can watch their favorite show on Netflix. For the older kids there are regular chairs, but video game consoles, so they can play while they get a cut. One of the best parts of Funky Scissors is you're able to make an appointment online. We showed up right at 12 pm for our appointment. One of the stylists asked Nugget to pick out a chair. It was a real nail biter between the gray Jeep and the fire truck. Jeep won. He was also asked which movie or show he wanted to watch. He chose Incredibles. The stylist asked how I wanted his haircut. I showed her a picture and she was on her merry way. The cut took a total of seven minutes. Quick, painless, and with his occasional serious stare, he was done in a matter of minutes. His favorite part is when he gets to choose a ballon, sucker, and prize. His fresh new shark fin cut looked great and made him look like a little dude. Got there at 12:20 For the 1240 appointment Didn't get seen till 120 my daughter got the works. Love the experience. when it was my turn, they didn't know I was getting the mom cut. The stylist didn't know I was planning to wash my hair so I said just do the haircut cause at that point my patience wore out and I just wanted to go. I spent a little over 40 for my hair. Dry cut nothing else. I got more when I went to ulta. I'm glad my daughter had a good experience and her hair came out great but we will not be returning. It is extremely disorganized. read more

First, I want to say that I was satisfied with my child's haircut and the stylist was perfectly nice. There was nothing about the experience that was negative, although her cut was not as even as other haircuts she's had. But it was fast, so there you go. However, it looked like they needed 2 more employees there for the weekend. One for exclusively handling the front desk/phone calls, and one for walk-ins, since they do seem to accept those. I had an appointment, but there was a very well-behaved toddler (that arrived before we did, but alas didn't have an appt) that was still waiting for a haircut after we left. I sympathized with the parents, and I also sympathized with the stylists that had to keep their appointments on-time, but there was just no in-between. Maybe it was an unusually busy day and someone called off, I don't know. My suggestion is to make an appointment, especially during weekends. And maybe just avoid weekends in general. read more

A great choice for my almost 18-month-old son's first hair cut. They were quick, caring, and very well-prepared for the kid clientele with balloons and lollipops after the cut, cool car-design chairs to sit in and various options for entertainment to watch during the cut. They offer a certificate and to save a lock of hair for the first-timer as well. Update: my husband brought our don back for another haircut and he had a very smooth visit again. The last appointment I made at Funky Scissors will be my last! I took my 6 year old twins in for cuts and paid for the service where they wash, cut and style their hair. One appointment was at 6 pm and another at 620. I was out the door by 615! My kids never got their hair washed and I was told that they were short staffed for that and that I didn't pay for it. Also, my daughter's hair was so uneven I had to take her somewhere else to get it fixed two days later. One kid even asked if they had even cut her hair! Doesn't pay to be the last ones of the day as I felt rushed to get out of there so they could go home. Never again! read more

I don't know why toddlers hate getting their hair cut. If my salon offered candy after appointments and fun little cars to sit in during, I would probably rock a pixie cut and go every week. Luckily, Funky Scissors anticipates the fear some kids feel going under the clippers and creates an experience that leaves them looking great and meltdown free. Funky Scissors takes tiny car couture and kicks it up a notch. Once seated, kids are offered "super hero capes" and get to sit back, Netflix and chill. The tv's are sunken into the salon mirrors in a way that a child must think is magical. The stylist I saw was named Bree and she was calm and welcoming in a full on Mary Poppins way that my kid loved. When he started to tense up about water being sprayed, she immediately turned it into a fun "rain" experience that had him giggling. She took her time cutting his hair, making him comfortable by doing the "scary" part last. Once the hair cut is completed , your kid gets a balloon! This doesn't seem like much, but for a toddler balloons are everything. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at Funky Scissors. We took our 2 year old here for her second haircut ever. Crystal was so patient with our daughter who kept turning her head. She asked us if we wanted more cut off and asked if it was okay to cut her one curl. She did a wonderful job! This was a much better experience than the previous place we went to. We love Funky Scissors! My son would choose to never get his hair cut if I gave him that option but he willingly goes to Funky Scissors to see Jill every 4-5 weeks! She does a great job with his hair...I'm always happy with the outcome but, more importantly, she's very respectful of his wishes. Initially, she would ask me what I wanted her to do but, when she realized that it was important to my son that he have a voice in his own hairstyle (he's 12,) she immediately began to defer to him while keeping my wishes in mind! I wanted to like this place but after two identically disappointing visits I won't be going back. My daughter's hair had been in a braided pony tail all day. I took her for a trim in the evening. The person cutting her hair took out the braid and pony tail, brushed the hair, and quickly cut it dry. It took...less than 3 minutes for the cut. The most time was spent painting her nails. Afterward, her hair was wavy (originally very straight) from the braid and very choppy on the ends, not even at all. I've never been anywhere that cuts hair dry, especially hair that had been in a braid all day. I immediately took her to a salon the following day to have it corrected. It was bad enough that I didn't want the original person to bother trying to fix it. The nail polish, balloon, and ring is a nice touch and makes it fun for the kids. read more

My son loves Funky Scissors! He begs to get his haircut because he always enjoys the experience. Fun cars to sit in, Netflix at each station, a lollipop and balloon at the end. What more can you ask for? They also have chairs for parents to sit with their child on their lap for those kiddos that don't love haircuts. But in the handful of times I've been there I've never seen any major freak outs. We have had Brie the last few times and she always gives him the cut I ask for. We have been going here for over 3 years. Some stylists are great and others average. we had an appointment today that because of my work was going to make us 12 minutes late, they would not take us. Last month my son had an appointment that they did not call us back until 25 minutes after our appointment time when we arrived 10 minutes early. Today was my second visit to Funky Scissors. The first visit was nothing special but it was satisfactory. However, today the customer service was absolutely terrible. The red headed lady did not smile even once. She was literally gritting her teeth and telling my daughter to look down and sit still. I mean, she's 3. There's a reason why I'm bringing her to funky scissors, you should know how to deal with kids. She made it very obvious that she hates her job. My 1 year old just needed a trim of her bangs and that was $14 as well. Next time, I'll just take them to Great Clips, I'm sure they'll do a better job interacting with children. read more

Great place to take children for haircuts. A little pricier than we're used to but they're great with kids, the atmosphere is fantastic with powerwheel seats for the littles complete with Netflix, and leather seats for the bigger kids with Netflix or videogames. Today was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. This is my first Yelp review but I want others to know- We were early for our appointment but the sign on the door says they will call you when they are ready. Then they add "your appointment time is an estimation". Which I understand because during covid they only let so many into the salon. The door was locked. I was worried they would not know we were here for our appointment. They should let you call to check in. So we sat in the car for a while. I had a one year old and a four year old with me. It got to where it was 8 min past our scheduled appointment and my 4 year old had to pee. They wouldn't let us in the salon so we went to a store nearby. While I was there they called and left a message they were ready for us. I could not answer because I was helping her in the restroom but the store was walking distance and we went right away. When I got there the door was still locked. Me and my one year old stood outside the door in the freezing cold for 5 min. Finally they opened the door and asked for our name. When I told them our name they said they did not have us down for an appointment. I told them we just got a call saying they were ready for us. She then told me it was past 10 minutes since she called so our spot was canceled (which it WAS NOT). We paid ahead of time so they did not care if we got the cut or not was quickly how I started feeling. She told me she called me at a certain time and the call on my phone showed that she called me 10 min after what she said! I don't like being lied to. Plus we had waited outside for 5 min! She told me then that we had been skipped and I would need to wait 15 more min. I would have left but they make you pay ahead of time and would not refund me. My poor one year old was so patient and waited an additional 15 min- now 30 min after our scheduled time. He was so excited to sit in the police car. When they finally got to us it turned out we could not sit in the kids chairs. We had to use an adult chair and he threw a fit after being so good and patient. I was livid. He cried about it the whole haircut and then the whole way home. The entire reason to go to a place like this is so they get a kid experience. I could have just done a walk in at great clips for this and it would have been easier and cheaper. They are not good with kids and are unbelievably rude. He will probably fight me on his next haircut because he had such a bad experience. I don't usually leave bad reviews but don't mess with my kids. Awful experience with my 4yr old boy who had a beautiful full head of hair that I just wanted trimmed up. This shop is a one trick pony. If you want a standard (overpriced) boy hair cut sure it's fine, but that's not what I ask for. My 4yr old loves getting his hair cut and doesn't move around a lot. Initially, we had only scheduled one of them for a cut, because the other was really squeamish about even getting her hair brushed. Should have known better - as soon as she saw how cool this place was, she was definitely intrigued. And then the sparkle hairspray? SOLD! So I asked if they could fit her in their already jam-packed schedule - and they were able to accommodate! I had two happy 3 year olds with sparkly hair. But that's not all - after their haircuts, they were whisked away to the nail station where they got mini-manis! When they were finally done, they got to pick out a lollipop, a ring and a balloon!
