Stopped getting my hair done at Penzone years ago but every now and then I still need a massage. So, the massage: Prices up quality down. Booked my favorite masseuse but when I arrived they changed people on me. Disaster. If you want to pay over 100.00 for someone to rub oil on your skin but has no clue what a muscle is you will be fine. But I actually wanted a massage. The same massage I usually get when booking. They switched people on me (could have called and informed me / I would have cancelled and rescheduled with the person that does the job. New person - lousy job, I can't even use the word massage; maybe oil wipe. Offered a redo, ok, then Penzone called and cancelled the redo appointment. Then the excuses, "Oh your regular person does too much. You want the more expense massage where we really work the muscles. Greed, poor quality work; you have forgotten the customer and just want more money up, up, up ---business is going down, down down. Don't waste your money here folks, no matter what you pay the services are POOR. Never again -- any services.

The girls were professional yet friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I came through the door. Even the other girls getting their hair done seemed to be regulars and went out of their way to rave about how great studio 3 has always been to them. I felt like I was at my best friend's house getting my hair done and it turned out GORGEOUS. I will definitely be recommending the girls at studio 3 and returning in the future.

However, my base color was never changed only highlights were added. The highlights also ended up being much more subtle and darker than the reference pictures I showed. I was hoping for noticeable, soft caramel/brown highlights with more dimension throughout my hair, but the finished result looks very close to how my hair looked before. I did tell the stylist that I liked it when I left, but I want to be honest that I only said that because I felt uncomfortable being rude after she had finished my hair. Once I got home and really looked at it, I realized I was genuinely disappointed because it wasn't what I had asked for or expected when I booked the appointment. I understand that hair doesn't always turn out exactly like a reference picture, but I feel like there was a pretty significant difference between what I booked, what I showed, and what I actually received. I was really excited to get my hair done, so it was upsetting to spend the money and leave feeling like my hair barely changed.

He wouldn't watch the video I brought about gray blending and the color is not at all what I wanted - he assured me his way was better. It looks like a bad frost job from the 60s. RUINED the beautiful silver I'd been growing out for a year. This cut though, pure trash - I cried for hours. I look AWFUL!!! He was also extremely rough, pulling my hair, wiping the color aggressively, it felt like he was angry to be there. It was painful, not relaxing. Also the salon is dirty. Not the Penzones experience I remember. Hire a cleaning person for the love. And for this trash I paid $400. I was too upset to say anything. I burst into tears the moment I left.

I have had nothing but great experiences here. I will say, I'm someone who doesn't plan ahead well,…read moreso when I schedule a haircut/color, it's usually last minute so I schedule with whoever has an opening. As a result, I've had appointments with many of the women here and they all have done a fantastic job. The usual visit goes: I do a terrible job explaining what I want exactly (usually accompanied by a picture or two), they somehow decipher it and make their own suggestions, and I walk out loving my new color (and cut but I usually just trim a couple inches so nothing special there). Everyone's super nice and they're good at reading whether or not I want to chat or just have an hour or two of relative silence/escape from my hectic life. They also always suggest cheaper ways of doing what I want and I'm grateful for that (and it always looks amazing). They also always take into account my infrequency of visits and suggest things that will take less upkeep which is also appreciated. Picture is just the most recent haircut and color; sorry it's just half my hair but it might give you an idea! The only problem is that parking is a nightmare in the area. There are usually some free meters in the area (try a street down from the salon, next to the UDF) but if you're getting something that might take more than two hours, those two hour meters aren't super helpful.

Given the multi-locations and multi-techs it took awhile to book a time that suited me. I did think they are overpriced compared to other nail salons. I had a very pleasant experience in person. I walked in and checked in on the tablet, making it very easy. I used the restroom and saw a coffee/cocktail bar that surprised me a bit. I did get a glass of water at the self-serve desk by the entrance. I sat in a comfortable chair and when my tech was ready, I was seated at her station. Great pedi and I liked Selma who wasn't pressured to make conversation. I'm good with quiet. She put me at a different seat to use the nail dryer. My toes look great. After the pedi and as I was being moved, I accidently knocked my water glass off the side of the chair. It broke and made a mess. They didn't yell at me. I felt bad, but someone quickly arrived with a broom and dustpan. At the check out desk, I was informed I got 25% off as it was my first visit. Yay! I used my giftcard and have $ leftover. They expect cash tips so I put $ in an envelope for Selma. It is a very pretty salon and I would recommend it for a first timer.
