I would strongly advise against purchasing extensions from any of their locations. I have spent well over $3,000 across multiple hair extension orders, and both my daughter and I have experienced theft of our purchased hair. Even after proving this, the only resolution offered was a small discount on another order, from which I again received less than half of what I paid for. Stylists have taken full hair orders and replaced them with completely different hair (in color, texture, and length). I have also had extensions switched out during maintenance appointments--suddenly the hair would be shorter or a different texture. After taking my concerns to management and trying to resolve the issue, I visited three different locations and worked with several stylists. Unfortunately, I found the same problems recurring. I am deeply disappointed and disturbed by how widespread this appears to be. The issue is not limited to a single location. Some stylists rotate between salons, and many learn the extension installation method not only to service high-ticket clients---but to obtain free extensions for themselves. When you order hair through Penzone, it is shipped directly to your stylist--not to you. As a result, you never actually receive your full order. This is apparently an open secret: stylists often take what they want from your purchase and If you're lucky, you MAY get what's left. I ultimately removed my own extensions and, as shown in the attached photo, even the one full track that remained had sections cut away. Most notably, it's not even the hair I purchased---- it's neither 22 inches nor ombré as ordered. (The original hair I came in with attached to my hair is pictured in my head....blonde, 22 in. The psst few times I have gotten my hair done I have seen Piper and she does a fantastic job! She's super sweet too. I honestly have avoided Penzones because I thought it was out of my budget but it's actually considerably less expensive than Kenneth's and even Holiday hair.. If you want a very fast haircut for $34 in about 5 minutes, go with Lulu. Honestly, I thought it was ridiculous how quickly the service was done. I couldn't believe my haircut only took 5 minutes, and she didn't even put water on my hair. I don't think it's fair to pay that amount of money for such a rushed service. I'm paying not only for the haircut, but also for the experience and attention to detail. I expected better service for the price. read more

Went with bridal party. I would never recommend. Hair: I was one of first to get hair done. It fell out immediately. I asked the stylist to secure a second time and it fell immediately again. Another employee gave me a handful of Bobby pins on my way out the door apologetic for my appearance. Makeup: My makeup looked awful but more importantly, she used dirty brushes and wiped them on a dirty rag during. I've been going to Aldina for my hair for a while now, and I can whole heartedly say she is the best hairstylist I've ever had. Not only is she insanely talented and skilled at what she does, but she's also so kind, caring, and really listens to what you want and makes it come alive. She's turned my hair from originally blonde, to red 2 times. Each time it's the exact color I want. That right there should tell you how awesome she is at her job. HORRIBLE double standards and terrible customer service. Received a text message 45 minutes prior to my pedicure appointment saying my technician went home sick. OK, it happens, no worries. Until I try to reschedule and they blow me off. I requested a phone call yet they continue to text, saying, "there's nothing else available." I spend 19 minutes on the phone with the call center employee (who was awesome) and she finds me an appointment at another Penzone salon. There are many things I love about this spa! First, it smells good and when you walk in its a very relaxing feel. Complimentary infused water or coffee is available as well as a paid coffee shop for the more advanced drinks. I got a express pedicure with a senior pedicurist. She was very pleasant to chat with and was patient while I selected my color. Don't be fooled by the colors all lined up on the wall. They have all the colors of OPI! just ask. I was a bit disappointed by the price for a 30 min pedicure. Comparing it to other mani pedi places its a lot more money. That being said, I was treated like I was at a spa instead of a place who just does mani pedis and I enjoyed it! Im still thinking about that classy massage chair too! horrible customer service and experience. its been since JULY since they RUINED my hair and they refused to respond to my emails. i went in with hair down to my chest and left with a bob after asking for them to trim dead ends but specifically said "no more then half an inch" over 6 inches of my hair was cut off. not to mention they tried to charge me for balayage and full highlights when I never got balayage and the hairdresser never communicated that with me,they ended up taking it off and recognizing that mistake but did nothing else to resolve the situation and continue to ignore my emails. do not go here if you have curly hair they are very inexperienced. read more

Hello! I am a current university student, and I booked a microblading appointment with Sophia. I had very high hopes because I was extremely interested in microblading at the time. We had three appointments (like normal - a consultation and then a month or so apart for microblading). The eyebrows looked good for a couple days each time but then it would fade after a week or so. When I discussed this with her, I was told that I should come in for another "touch up" even though it had already been the two appointments. I was then charged AGAIN for a subsequent consultation, even though the microblading had not been completed correctly. I believe I spent over $800 for something that lasted two weeks and when I went to complain, I realized there was no point because my credit card was on file. Would not recommend getting microblading done here. I would advise going to a place that specializes in it even if it is a longer wait. Sophia is super nice, but that doesn't mean a $800 experience with no results was worth it. read more

They were able to get me in for a same day appt. which was great. This location is BUSY. I went weekday mid-day and the parking lot was packed. I liked the self check in kiosks in the lobby. My stylist was right on time and very friendly. I had an express blowout service. As I have said about every other blowout service in the last year, I just didn't love how it came out. I do have really curly hair, but it doesn't seem like it should be that challenging to get it smooth and tamed? Not sure what the magic is but I cannot seem to find it. read more

Disappointed again. Not sure why I gave Charles Penzone another shot. Had my appointment back in December...color and cut. The stylist was nice, seemed like she was going to do what I asked for but ended up not. First, with the haircolor I wanted to go a bit darker...she tried to convince since I have gray, to stay the same or go lighter because of stark difference there will be when it grows out (it wasn't like I was going from blonde to dark blonde). She wasn't listening and I ended up going the same shade I had. Second, I showed her a picture of the style I wanted, asked if she wanted me to leave the picture up...she said no, that she got it. During the cut I asked if she was cutting it for a middle part, she assured me she was...she didn't. The cut did not look anything like the picture and it was not cut for a middle part as it now looks uneven in the front. Fast forward to after Christmas, my teenage son wanted a haircut and could not get him an appointment to where he usually goes, so I made an appointment at Charles Penzone...stylist asked him if he was keeping the same style, he said yes and that he wanted 1" cut off...not only was it not the same style when she got done, she took of more than 1" and it was so uneven in the front and back. I do not know what it is, but in all of my experience at Charles Penzone over the years...I have never gotten the style I wanted and it has always been uneven. Only reason I gave a 2 star is because they carry the brand of haircolor I prefer. read more

Look I know I have posted about PENZONE before, BUT it bears repeating; this place is a true gem in the city!! I have been having my hair cut here by Vita for approximately 4-5 years. Pam just started doing my pedicures and Cameron and Melody take care of my facials, etc. These women are top notch. I currently drive over an hour to get here monthly and I would drive twice that for Vita to cut my hair. If you haven't tried this place you need to. They even have Cameron Mitchell deliver fresh treats to them for us to snack on between services!!! Seriously does it get any better than this!!!! read more

BEWARE-young mothers this is not the salon for you! Brought my sleeping premature infant with me to get a haircut prior to going back to work. Scheduled my appointment to be first thing in the morning around his nursing and nap schedule so as not to disturb anyone else, only to be dismissed as 'babies are not allowed back'. I was then taunted to call customer service should I have a problem with this policy. To add insult to injury this was done in front of others in the waiting room-never have I been made to feel so discriminated against for simply having children. I've been going to the Dublin Charles Penzone for around thirteen years. I started coming in to get my eyebrows waxed when I was younger and ended up seeing Lana. I haven't seen anybody else over the years. She is simply the best. I literally have to see her every time I am in town now because I moved away and don't trust anyone else to handle my brows. I could not recommend anyone more. She is amazing. As for the overall facility, this new building is visually stunning. However, the only downside is the hair area can get pretty loud. Beyond that it's very modern, comfortable, and they have a bar now! What's not to love? The girl at the front who greeted me was friendly as well. This Dublin business sent me a late cancellation fee of $66.50 note via email after I canceled in the morning for an afternoon hair appointment due to an emergency deliverable I had at my work. No one told me that they had late cancellation charges of $66.50. No verbal warning before they did this! When I spoke with the manager at Dublin, she said this was on their website ( I checked it is on the screen as a fine print that no customer will read!) and said they sent that information via text( it is not included in the text) I have requested manager Gabriella to send me a note requesting why I was charged and she says it is because I have been canceling my appointments! I agree with some of the other reviews about manicure services. I absolutely love penzones hair services and now that I moved to the area, figured that I would try out a gel manicure. The space was nice but it's the most expensive and worst manicure I've ever gotten. I don't say this lightly.. I got a gel manicure which is priced at $50 and I recognize I arrived 2 minutes after my appointment time but she thought I wasn't coming for some reason and then proceeded to rush through like I was just getting a polish change. She didn't even file my nails/shape them or do any cuticle work except oil. As you can see in the pics, there were still spots where nail polish was on my skin- super sloppy job. I've been a customer of this spa for literally 25 years. I had seen the same stylist for almost 8 years. She is on a leave of absence so I booked an appointment with another stylist for the first time. I should note that I NEVER cancel appointments and certainly never late cancel. I cannot think of a single time in 25 years that I late canceled an appointment. The salon has a new (and understandable!) policy where they now hold your credit card on file for, according to their own policy on their app "to deter the very few who *frequently* cancel and no show their appointments". In another section, it says "We're all human and understand things come up-- our aim is to be understanding of that, especially our loyal guests." Well, that was not my experience. After 25 years of no missed appointments they attempted to charge my card because I had to cancel an appointment about 10 hours in advance due to an EMERGENCY ROOT CANAL. As much as I love getting my hair done and value my artist's time, I was in excruciating pain and would later learn I had an infection in my jaw bone as well. So the choice was unfortunately a no-brainer. I called Charles Penzone from my dentist's chair at 9 in the morning as soon as she referred me to the endodontist that day. That was the earliest possible moment I could have cancelled. Let this be a warning that it is blatantly untrue that they will be understanding to their loyal guests. When I called to inquire about potentially taking into account my over two decades of not cancelling appointments, I was told that they would not. I would happily show proof that I was in fact getting an emergency medical procedure. I am so disheartened by this that I will never step foot in a Charles Penzone again. It's sad just because I have been so dedicated to them. I do understand the policy--I'm sure some people ARE habitual late cancelers and no-showers. But I couldn't be further from that. read more

I've had my hair cut here three times. This time will be the last. I booked a cut & style with Quinn for $45 at 6:30. 1. I checked in at 6:26. She was 15 minutes late; I was called back to the chair at 6:45. 2. The haircut went well. I asked for about 5 inches cut off of my hair with layers and face-framing layers. My hair is wavy and somewhat thick, but I've never been charged extra for the density of my hair. Despite this, at checkout, Quinn decided to charge me $87 for the haircut, claiming it was a "thermal style" because my hair is so thick and curly. This is DOUBLE the price we booked for and she never mentioned the upcharge throughout the haircut. 3. The manager came over and allowed us to pay the $45, but told us that we should expect the $87 cost every other time I cut my hair. We chose the lowest "tier" of hairstylist; and the "curly girl" cut for that tier is $68. Where is this up charge coming from? I understand needing extra time for thick hair, but we remained within the 45 minute slot given for a cut & style. So, if you choose to make an appointment here, do not trust the prices listed on the website. They will double (or even triple!) the cost as they please read more

The staff here is very professional and every stylist, artist, and esthetician does amazing work. I have been going to Penzone Dublin for 6 years and would continue to go if I hadn't moved. I HIGHLY recommend booking with Berkley for hair and Harley to get your brows done. Berkley is so fun and friendly and has done a great job with my hair every time I visited. I have thicker brows and it takes a lot for me to find an esthetician that I trust with them, and Harley had earned that trust after the first visit, so much so that I would always go out of my way to book with her, even if I was at the salon the day before. I feel like the cost is pretty reasonable. It's a beautiful space and I always have looked forward to my appointments! I will miss everyone there! read more

I moved to Richmond, IN from Los Angeles 3 years ago and tried a few hairdressers here, then tried one in Indianapolis whom I liked the first time but she was unimpressive the 2nd - warning sign is when they take too long to cut it! If they know what they are doing it does not take 45 minutes to cut hair. Anthony is vastly talented and after many many many years of mostly not being quite satisfied with my hairdresser, interspersed with having lousy experiences or surly stylists, well, I will not leave Anthony. I wish I did not love it here so much and I would move to Columbus. I JUST READ THE OTHER REVIEWS AND IF I EVER GET CHARGED FOR A CANCELLED APMT DUE TO A TRUE EMERGENCY I WILL CUT MY OWN HAIR AFTER THAT BEFORE I RETURN. Today I had the opportunity to go back for a real curly cut by Kendra! I actually received a phone call by Penzone customer care specialist. She was very polite and understood my reasons for being so disappointed in my first visit. But everything got fixed. I got to go back for a do over and it was fantastic! My experience was super positive. Kendra is a great professional and very talented! I highly recommend her for curly cuts. My hair looks beautiful and bouncy and I have very defined curls. She also taught me a few tricks for after care and maintenance. You definitely got a permanent customer. read more

Fell in love with this beautiful and modern salon during a Yelp Elite event hosted shortly after they opened their doors to the newly renovated space. I must confess that I previously thought this was a big, national chain filled with snooty workers and frequented only by pretentious clientele...I have no idea where that belief came from, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Charles Penzone started this company from just a $500 loan and has built a legacy, now run with the help of his wife, Debbie, who envisioned this cutting-edge space. After hearing their story and seeing first hand how friendly and down-to-earth they are, I knew I had to come here to support them and their local business. As soon as you walk in to the salon, you are invited to help yourself to complimentary water, tea, or coffee. Or if you're feeling cheeky, you can venture into the next room where they have a bar waiting to make you a cocktail, wine, or espresso drink...how cool is that?! I got a hair cut from Gigi who did a fantastic job and provided helpful insight and tips to make the most of my dreadfully fine hair. She explained each product that she used but didn't pressure me to buy any like other salons typically do, and that was definitely appreciated. She also spoke very highly of Charles, who she referred to as Mr. Penzone. From how she described working here, it was apparent that she loved her job, respected the leadership, and could make a lifelong dream career here. Finding that kind of passion about a work place is hard to come by these days, so I will definitely continue coming here as a customer. This was definitely an awesome experience. I will say that it definitely helped having Charles and Debbie Penzone there themselves. They were a delight and joy to be around and made themselves available for conversation and questions. While at this location. I ended up getting a paraffin wax treatment for my hands while I waited for my facial. Debbie recommended that I do this prior so I went along with it. The person that was providing the treatment was so warm and inviting. She answered any and every question that I had about anything having to do with this wax hand treatment. After I got it. My hands were so soft and smooth. I was afraid to hold my cell phone afterwards for fear that it would slip out of my hands. The facial was wonderful. Harley did an awesome job as she walked me through the entire process of what she was doing and why she was doing it. It was as though she had hands of an angel. I don't know what a angels hands are like but I'd imagine that Harley was pretty dang close. While we waited for the mask to set. Harley gave me a nice hand massage. Once everything was all said and done. I didn't even recognize myself. She did a phenomenal job. The facilities are immaculate and spacious. They have a bar and serve food there as well. The overall space is meant to provide a social feel it. You can come and network and chat it up with some of your friends and the such or you can go off into your private proof spa world. read more

The Penzone's are the sweetest, and their salons reflect their amazing ability to give their customers what they want. The new concept is by far the best spa break to have in Columbus! I was scheduled for a full highlight and haircut today at the Dublin salon. I was a little nervous based on the fact that I was seeing a new stylist a few days before Christmas but everything went smoothly. My stylist Sloan listened to my requests and did a wonderful job highlighting my hair. I cannot emphasize enough how frustrating it is when previous stylists were missing sections of my hair - whether it be around my ears or wherever. Well I didn't have to worry about any of that with Sloan. She did a very thorough job and has great attention to detail. My haircut was great too. I've been to several stylists at Polaris and Dublin locations and this by far was my best experience. Would recommend. read more

My family and I have been customers of PENZONE salons for 20+ years now. I have been seeing the same hair stylist for around 15 years and can't say enough about her. This is the ONLY reason I'm even still considering booking my bridal services with PENZONE for my wedding day and the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. As seems to be the trend after looking over previous wedding/bridal reviews, I have had quite the experience with the bridal coordinators. I have contacted them multiple times over the past 4 months (because they failed to follow up with me as I was assured they would) and have still yet to receive definite answers to important questions regarding pricing, as well as food and drink regulations. Instead of finding an answer, I continue to hear the same response, that they will touch base with me "closer to my wedding date." They seem to just be dismissing my concerns. My wedding is 9 months away- it seems completely reasonable for me to need budgeting information at this point so I can compare options. Apparently they don't feel the same sense of urgency. Once again, if you have zero ties to this salon or you are considering others, I would recommend going somewhere else for your bridal party hair and makeup. read more

For almost 30 years off and on I have been coming here. Today I received the worst haircut ever. My usual stylist wasn't available; I selected one that was available as in the past, and never have I been disappointed the level has always been great. However today I paid 39.00 for a 12.00 haircut. I rarely do a bad review, because the service was so bad the feed back is needed. I am not a GQ kind of guy just an a guy who wants a serviceable haircut. And to top it off she said " you didn't want a shampoo did you? I think well that sounds like she was finished.
