Baked ziti had a nice flavor and plenty of cheese. Pretty good food at a large portion for decent price.

The beauty of living midtown is that you can pretty much find every kind of cuisine within a three block radius. My daughter and I walked to Fumo and enjoyed a casual Italian dinner. The two of us shared three dishes which was just the right amount of food. Fumo has a $12 special covering an array of pasta and sauce. Rice balls, four per order, were small but delish: mozzerella, fontina, peas, pomodoro. We rounded out the meal with a spinach salad -- more than enough for two -- that had pecans, avocado, shredded carrots and a particularly good balsamic vinaigrette. You can save a couple of dollars by paying cash. Note that tables are one-on-top of the other. But hey, this is Manhattan.

From the outside, Fumo looks like your typical NYC New American restaurant. However, upon taking a bite of something like their spicy calamari, or their pizzas, you're blown away by the quality and taste of incredible Italian food, despite it's affordability. I'm writing this after having eaten here twice, and both times, the service has been fast and welcoming. Definitely worth a stop for lunch if you're in or around kips bay.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a lunch spot. The $12 pasta lunch special sold me! I orders the spaghetti carbonara and the portion was HUGE (yes I still finished it all). It was creamy and delicious. Loved the space so I decided to stay and read my book for a while given it wasn't too busy. The staff was so friendly with checking up on me while not pressuring me to leave. I ordered a tiramisu for dessert with a glass of the house red wine. Perfect afternoon!

They have a $12 pasta deal most days of the week which is what we came in for. We were able to be seated outside right away on a Monday night. Service is just okay, hard to track down our waiter but the people bussing our tables were extremely sweet. The mushroom pasta was our favorite, wouldn't go back for any of the other ones. Patio seating was nice and did not feel like I was in the way of pedestrians.

    - Clean, cute, and cozy, but it gets really busy and loud during lunchtime: was there on a Thursday afternoon and it was packed - Trying to make a reservation for a large group (16 people) was a bit of a hassle: had to email and then follow up with a phone call, only to be told to wait for an email reply--not the smoothest process - They reserved two tables of 8 for us, but oddly placed them on opposite sides of the front of the restaurant, separated by the entrance--it didn't make sense, especially since the layout seemed like it could've accommodated us better - Service was friendly but very slow for one of the tables: one table got appetizers AND entrees before the other even got the complimentary bread; felt uncoordinated and frustrating--especially when you're hungry - On the plus side, the food was delicious: Fumo burger was cooked perfectly medium and super flavorful; truffle fries that came with the burger were a hit; the side of garlic sautéed mushrooms were a great burger topping; fried calamari and burrata were also enjoyable - Overall, the food was great but the slow and uneven service really took away from the experience--if they're going to seat a group separately, they should at least try to time the service better--nobody likes being hangry

Food was great. However, the hostess forgot we existed, made us wait half an hr for seats and seated others before us. Other than the horrible seating experience, service was good and food was good!

I stopped by Fumo kips bay for lunch. I ordered a kale Caesar salad, penne funghi, and a Shirley temple drink. The lunch size was enormous which I love; I like taking home leftovers. I was very pleased with my lunch meals. The salad was perfection; fresh kale, fresh croutons, and lots of Caesar dressing. The service was excellent, the staff checked up on me often and offered me cheese multiple times for my penne pasta. The penne pasta was delicious I have an obsession with mushrooms and this mushroom pasta did not disappoint. I would love to come back and try more of their menu. The lunch ambiance was nice, there was a good amount of people having lunch when I walked in, as my food arrived the crowd started to leave. I like the aesthetic of the restaurant, it was pretty inside with lots of light. I think the $12 lunch pasta or salad is such a steal! I would like to come back for lunch or any time really. All in all, 10/10 restaurant recommendation

Absolutely obsessed with this beautiful and romantic restaurant. The vibe was incredible and so was the service. Brendan was an absolute pleasure. The food came out quickly, hot, fresh, and flavorful. You should definitely order the truffle fries! I will definitely be back HIGHLY recommend this location. Also the music was on point and so were the drinks.

Saw a sign that they had a $12 pasta special from 4-10pm on Sundays and Mondays, so I knew I had to come here for dinner. I made a reservation for 8pm on a Sunday, but I ended up being in the neighborhood at 6:30pm so I stopped in to see if we could get seated earlier. At first, the hostess said she couldn't fit us in, but after a couple minutes she said she could! The restaurant is cozy and intimate. The tables are somewhat close to each other but we didn't have to speak too loudly to hear each other. I will say the service was soooo slow though. I attribute that to there being so many tables, but I would definitely warn people who are on a time crunch for dinner to think twice before eating here on a weekend just given the amount of time it takes. It took us 2 hours from start to finish. We ordered the spinach salad as an appetizer, the mushroom pasta and the sausage rigatoni as our entrees and we shared a panna cotta for dessert. Our dinner came out to $66 for two people which is honestly incredible given the amount of food that we ate and the fact that we basically had a three course meal for $33 a person. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you're in the mood for Italian food!

The food was great, but I left feeling uncomfortable. As a Black/Asian woman, I was seated in a hidden back corner of the exterior of the restaurant, despite several open tables available at the front. Upon arrival, my server looked me up and down with a mean/judgemental demeanor. I was dressed nicely in business casual attire coming from church. I didn't think much of it at first, but when I finished my meal and walked out, I noticed that every other customer--who appeared to be non-POC--was seated in the front section. My server, a white male with round glasses, was attentive initially, but I waited 15-20 minutes just to receive the check, which felt unusually long compared to the pace of service around me. This experience left me with the unsettling impression that I was treated differently, and it overshadowed what would have otherwise been a great meal.

The tables in the middle of the restaurant are small, but the food quality is consistent. The calamari's good quality and much better than many other Italian places. The pasta is al dente. Service is also friendly. Lunch prices are unbeatable, so we usually get drinks and apps as well!

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. Anyway, their happy hour is solid enough for a Monday and was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in over a year. Place is actually very cute. There are no tvs which I appreciate and the paneling of the walls and decor with all the flowers is quite tasteful. As well as 2 Appetizer Bites for $19.95. Not the best but not the worst. I'm normally not a Spritz kind of gal. I think watering down prosecco or wine is heinous. But it was a Monday and I didn't exactly feel like powering down into happy hour so Aperol Spritz it was which switched to a Modelo later. It was the perfect drink situation on a god awful hot as hell day. We also ordered the fish tacos and what initially were the curry fries but they brought out the Greek fries. I wasn't mad about it. Honestly was torn between the two and I don't send food back unless something really bad happened. But it was essentially a side of Caesar salad dressing with feta cheese and generous amount of herbs on a very sparse and frugal amount of crispy standard cut fries. Now I know why it's a 2 for $20 deal. The tacos were 3 in an order which I guess is typical. They weren't bad but nothing stood out to me. I'd come for the drinks or try something else on the menu.
