Food was great in the past but My seafood balls were burnt today. Didn't want to go back for gumbo greens after that. Hit and miss I guess.

Maybe something…read morethat speaks sole food that makes you want to step out of your comfort zone and have something wonderful. This is the place. You almost don't see it because it's on the corner and it isn't prominent with a big sign in front you have to look but it's worth a stop. I went inside it was after the lunch shift and I got my food to go because I wanted to bring something home for my wife who'd been working hard all day. I was greeted by I guess the manager or owner in the front of a very nice lady very hospitable and she explained the food culture to me. I wanted to get food to go that I could share with my wife that was take out. My grandma is from the South so I have no problem recognizing good Southern food. I was I did I was impressed when I looked at the menu and saw Mac and cheese, fried okra, Cajun fries, fried cabbage, Jojo's grilled veggies, bake beans, and Flora's famous peach cobbler. I was hooked already. I ordered the barbecue junior ribs with a substitution for the potato salad I had to have some greens. And I have to tell you when I got home my wife's eyes just about popped out of her head the smell filled the room and we dove into it like it owes us money. After several quiet minutes at the dinner table there was nothing left but clean plates and bones. We we were so happy that I had stopped in there out of curiosity. I will go back but this time I'll eat in and I will again share this food with my wife. Did I mention that if you eat with me and I order that peach Cobbler, that Flora's Famous Peach cobbler, I won't share

Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday and they had a fair size crowd in the dining room. Might have been a group. In any case the large number of folks had the staff running. Nevertheless Curtis immediately introduced himself to us, seated us, and brought us bread and salads to keep us busy while they got caught up. We eventually ordered the Fish Hoagie with fries ($15) and the Jambalaya ($20). Both were excellent. The fish in the hoagie was Cajun fried catfish. Cooked perfectly and had the right amount of spice to it. Big enough sandwich that I took half home. The jambalaya had plenty of shrimp and sausage, cooked perfectly as well. For dessert we had the peach cobbler, which came out hot and is a big enough portion to share (they comped the dessert because the server already tallied the bill and chose not to adjust it). Great finish to our meal. Throughout our meal young Server Evan checked on us continually. What a nice, polite young man! Overall - great food, very friendly service, and great value (beers for $3.50 each?!?). Go soon before they figure out they need to raise their prices.

Honestly I am a bit alarmed and surprised by all the bad reviews here…read more 3.5 stars for me. I had the fried catfish with 2 sides for the discounted promo online on Seamless for ~$16. Online ordering was easy and the food was prepped quickly around 6:30 pm on a weekday, I received a personal call from the staff when it was ready. I liked that the cornmeal batter was not too thick like other places, but I would've liked the pieces to be fewer and bigger rather than in thin strips but I guess it depends on the size of the fish. The fish was fried fresh and the tartar sauce was good, albeit in two tiny containers. I had the beans and rice and coleslaw as my two sides. I did wish the sizes were bigger, they were in big "condiment" containers and even smaller than Popeyes' regular sides. I did really liked the flavor in both sides. The beans and rice was more dry like Popeyes instead of being super watery at a lot of Southern places. The coleslaw had a few raisins in it and I actually thought it added a nice sweetness to the coleslaw.
