Pretty much serves only NC beer and beer brewed in-house. The Fullsteam beers and beer selection aren't bad, and their snack menu looks yummy (although I've yet to try anything off it). Note, this place doesn't serve food other than snacks though, so if you plan to drink beer with a meal, the only food options nearby are walking to Motorco or ordering from food trucks (schedule posted on the Fullsteam website). On Mondays (Bolly Mondays), a woman named Suman comes in to serve her home-cooked Indian meals, which are quite good and very authentic. I also like the local vibe, including the updated calendar of food trucks and frequent number of events taking place here. read more

Very cool wide open space for a brewery and tons of activities for people do to be it board games, darts or just hang out in a wide open space with friends. The beers are great as well and they always have a food truck outside along with many options that are walkable. It can get quite loud in the main hall so if youre looking to have a quieter area, try the bar thats directly inside to the left as you walk in. read more

We loved this chill spot! Friendly staff, a beer for everyone, and lots of variety in food. My hypercritical fisherman boyfriend LOVED the new Catfish Banh Mi, thanks Chef Adam! read more

Stopped in for a quick pint with friends. We were pleased with the size, tons of ample seating. We thought the games were really neat, played some ping pong even though I am garbage whilst sober. Adding alcohol does not help that. The retro games were a great addition too. Ok, now for the important part: The beer. It is all fairly priced and there were plenty of selections. We all ordered different brews, which worked out great. We have known each other since elementary school so we have no problem drinking out of each others glasses to sample something. But the two beers I ordered were from the experimental section, I am the adventurous foodie and who knows if these will ever be brewed again? The IPA was brewed with 800 pounds of kumquats, had light citrus notes but lacked the distinct hoppiness of IPA's I am used to. Which made it easier to drink. Then I went completely out of my comfort zone, I got the honey wheat which was brewed with black pepper. It was ridiculously refreshing, you could not taste the pepper but you could feel its heat. Both were excellent. So overall I really enjoyed this brewery. There is plenty of space, which is nice a lot of breweries ive been to can be cramped. I love the "southern beer" ideology, moonpie stout? BRILLIANT! and all the beers were so easy to drink. Will definitely be back when I am in the area. read more

This place is really neat! I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It is a redone garage with a huge fan that blows fresh air. There are a few different rooms, one with the bar, and a few others with picnic tables. I loved that you could check out board games to play from the bar. They also had darts which was popular. They had a huge beer selection! They also served a good amount of food that looked and smelled amazing, but I didn't eat anything (on my list for next time!). I sampled a beer flight (you pick any 5 beers from their menu) and it came in an awesome NC shaped tasting board. My favorites were the sweet potato ale and the honey white! read more

Tavern burger was slop between buns. I initially grabbed the burger and the buns excreted hot moisture/grease and burned my fingers. From there, the burger fell apart due to too much sauce. No lettuce, no tomato, no ketchup, just wetness and an overly salty burger patty. I will not be coming back for food. read more

Super cool place. I had a group of friends meet me there to celebrate my husbands birthday and we had a great time. The beers were good and they even had a wine selection. My partner and I are from out of town and we got a flight of Fullsteam's local brews. Everything was delicious and a decent ABV. Would recommend! But I came to Yelp to give a special shout out to whoever made the decision to label the bathroom with practical & gender neutral signs. As a non-binary/transgender person, I really appreciate this. Thank you! read more

One of my favorite places to go when I'm visiting Durham. I do wish that they would invest more in creating better ambience for outdoor seating as during covid many people want to sit outside. However, doing so at full steam just feels like you're sitting on the sidewalk. Put up some lights! Get some space heaters for the cold months! read more

This place has such a great atmosphere, I loved it immediately walking through the door. I love the idea of having a huge game room in a brewery! I also really liked how the tasting area is away from the hang out area. My husband and I opted to split a sampler of 10 beers between the two of us at the bartender's suggestion, which I think was a really good way to go, as their samples are quite large! I was a huge fan of the Summer Basil farmhouse ale, it kind of smelled like bologna (which admittedly sounds weird-sorry) but tasted like heaven. I can imagine drinking large quantities of it on hot summer days. I also really liked the Fearrington Fall. The other beers were pretty good, the only ones I really didn't like were the IPA (but I don't like IPAs, so that is nothing against the brewery) and the Hogwash (which I figure is an acquired taste) even though it smelled tasty. I would like to go back next season to see what new brews they have concocted. read more

Fullsteam is what Durham is all about. I can't believe it took me this long to finally make it over to have a beer. The first time I came to Fullsteam was actually to hunt down the Porchetta food truck a few years ago. Fullsteam does a great job of inviting food trucks to their venue and the rotation is phenomenal. On Mondays it is called Bolly Mondays because of the Indian food set up by Suman Catering. Pair a pint with some spicy cuisine from 5-8pm and you are in another world. We went on Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. I love the atmosphere of the beer hall. As soon as you enter, the front room has board games and arcade style games and tables to sit. The mail hall is dimly lit with brick walls and a retro-feel. I love the German-style picnic benches and the illuminated star in the corner. There were all kinds of guests from toddlers to adults to 4-legged friends. It is really a destination for all and the atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. The main bar has all of the Fullsteam taps on display with the board listing all of the beers and ABV on the right. I also love their logo and swag (t-shirts, caps, etc) hanging on the walls for sale. There is also a dart room that is glassed off and you can see through the glass doors and see flying darts and happy guests playing a game in the sealed off area. Behind the hall and dart room is where all the magic happens and you can see all of the big beer tanks. Now on to the beer...we started with the Stagsville Sour Wit, a perfect combination of wit beer with the tartness of a sour. This was a refreshing intro so we decided to sip on a flight. You can pick 5 pours in the flight and I love how they are pout in a wooden holder the shape of North Carolina. Very fitting for Cackalacky and you have to try this signature Ginger Pale Ale. We tried these 5 brews and loved them all. 1)Demoiselle (dry hopped saison) - ABV 6.8 2) Beasley's Honey White (wit with black pepper ABV 5.1- Beasley comes from AC's restaurant in Raleigh with the famous fried chicken- smooth beer and very refreshing 3) Cack-a-lacky (Ginger Pale Ale, ABV 5.8) Signature beer with stars on the cans 4) Rocket Science IPA - ABV 7.8, IPA 5) Stagville- Sour wit- ABV 5.0- yummy Our birthday group had a fantastic time and it was really a perfect evening to sit and talk with friends over a pint or two and enjoy food truck food. The owner was even there and congratulated Greg on his birthday.I can see why Fullsteam is so successful and you can find their beers all over the Triangle and in restaurants and can also pick up a growler to take home. I would also check on Fullsteam's website to check their events calendar with food trucks and follow their social media. Fullsteam is fantastic and be sure to check them out when in Durham. read more

Maybe update your hours if you aren't going to be open. Moving to the area and will definitely not be returning to a place that has such poor management they can't even simply update the hours. Hours are incorrect on multiple websites and your automated message. read more

This place was awesome. We had a flight of beer and enjoyed all 5 of them. They were all different. The sweet potato lager was definitely my favorite beer of all time. The brewery is really laid back with games and picnic tables. There is even a stage for performances. We were there about 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday night and there were at least 6 other people still there enjoying themselves. The only reason this place received 4 instead of 5 stars is because the service could have been better. A couple of people looked stud and didn't speak before one of the bartenders finally acknowledged us. After we were acknowledged the service was great. I will definitely return. read more

Fullsteam does an incredible job engaging and fostering the Durham community through their sustainable and locally sourced ingredients, live music, weekly run club, trivia nights, and so much more. Be sure to check out their calendar of events online - you can bet there's something fun scheduled just about every night of the week! I always enjoy my time at this brewery because there's so much to do. They have a wall with a plethora of board games, a ping pong table, and pinball machines. You are likely to make a new friend here. Find a spot inside or out and be sure to bring your furry friend! Fullsteam has committed to paying their employees a living wage. The employees are one-of-a-kind and mission focused. I've never had a bad experience! read more

Fullsteam is my new favorite place in Durham. The beer is amazing, the bartenders are attentive and genuine, and the best part is that the rest of the space is used as an indoor beer garden. There are a number of picnic tables set up inside, as well as a stage, foosball table, ping pong table, and some arcade/pinball machines. The owners are cool if you have birthday parties or other get-togethers in the space-- all free of charge! It's a laid-back place with awesome/inexpensive beers. What more could you want? I've never tried the food, but heard the moon pies are great :) read more

I love this place!!! I've only been here once, but I would be back every weekend if I lived closer. Beer and games and community tables? Loosen up with some alcohol, say hello to the person next to you, and make some new friends (or enemies) over fun games! Everyone's happy and having fun. They have long community tables spread throughout the space that kind of reminded me of a primary school cafeteria. There's a wall stacked with all sorts of games - from Apples to Apples, to Settlers of Catan, to Battleship, to Sexy Jenga (or whatever it's called). One of the walls is a huge window that shows the brewery - it's pretty cool! There's a separate smaller room that you go into to order your beers. I love the location too! Right next to MotorCo and Geer St. Play some games over a pitcher here, head to Geer St. for some delicious food, then walk over to MotorCo to listen to some music. Perfect night. It's definitely not a place to come to if you're looking for something more intimate and lowkey. The place can get pretty loud because of the high ceilings and open space, so expect to speak up a bit. It probably won't be a huge problem if you've got some alcohol in you though! read more

Came in last week for a couple beers with friends and had a blast. The beer selection is fantastic and the bartenders are great. They will give you recommendations, let you try things, and don't turn their nose up at you if you say one isn't your style. There is a ton to do here, too. Trivia, ping pong, arcade games, foozball, pinball...and of course conversation with people from all over!! My favorite thing: the dogs. Tons of people had their dogs inside(!!!), which I loved! We didn't bring ours because we wanted to feel it out a little, but we will definitely return with our furry friend! The only thing: these guys don't serve food. Don't let that be a deterrent though. It'll give you a chance to try some of Durham's fantastic food trucks that are always outside! read more

While Fullsteam is a happening spot on weekend nights, I recommend spending a lazy Sunday afternoon or evening there when it's less crowded. Play a round of darts, spread out with board games on indoor or outdoor communal picnic tables, and chat with friendly bartenders who can recommend the best beers for your palate. The brewery has an ever-green selection of core beers, like their sweet potato lager and Rocket Science IPA, and constantly evolving seasonal choices (Southern Basil! ). I'm a fan of indulging in a few half-pints, adorably named "Laura Ingalls" on the chalkboard menu, rather than commiting to full pours. They're also exceptionally dog-friendly, and not just on the patio! You can bring your pup pretty much everywhere except behind the doors to the bar. read more

I really dig fullsteam! This is a real neighborhood brewery that obviously cares about the community it is a part of. They host some awesome events. I've been here for everything from the Water for Good brewery bike tour to a vegan bake sale benefiting LGBTQ services. There's often live music and They have a Great Wall of board games. There's a dark intimate bar area and a more open brighter area for darts and board gaming. I often see families with kids hanging out and playing games. My go to brew is the Beasley honey white. The subtle honey pairs nicely with the pepper flavor. This is just a really enjoyable space with good beer and good games and good music and I always know I'm going to have a good time. Come hang out! read more

I really used to like this place, but over the past couple years, all the beers have started to taste the same. They've recently added food, and it's ok, but the food trucks were better! I wish the fullsteam food was more food-trucky, with some basic stuff like sandwich melts, chicken and pita pizzas. Instead, it seems like they're trying to copy Motorco. We don't need another Motorco right across the street from Motorco! They even pushed out Pie Pushers. So much for that Wednesday night ritual! :( read more

Came here for drinks with a friend and I can say that I love the industrial look to the place. They have a great beer list and some nice specials. Right now (February) they are having a Girl Scout Cookie flight pairing (see pics) which I thought was a great deal for 15 dollars. I got to try 5 beers and 5 cookies. The pairs were quite well done and I enjoyed being able to try a bunch of the cookies without buying a whole box. I was also a huge fan of the flight paddle which was in the shape of North Carolina. It was a big unwieldy, but as a fan of state-shaped objects, I can give it a pass. The service was fast and the bar wasn't all that full on a Saturday night which was pleasantly surprising. My friend highly suggested the trivia here. If I am back in Durham, I might pop by to try some of the new beers and Mac and Cheese which looked delicious after looking at the food menu. read more

A really cool place with a lot of entertainment options (besides the booze). You walk in to a game room with different arcade games (pinball, Cruisin' USA, ping-pong) before you enter a large room with a lot of picnic-style tables and also plenty of board games. They also have darts and a large projection screen. Great assortment of beer options of course. I pints of the "Humidity" pale ale and the "Rocket Science" IPA. Both were fantastic. I was with a big group coming from a wedding rehearsal dinner, but everyone was able to get to the bar, get drinks, and find seating pretty quickly, so credit Fullsteam for having ample space. Definitely would like to come back the next time I'm in the Raleigh/Durham area to spend more time and try some more beer offerings! read more

My #1 go-to brewery in the Triangle! Excellent beers that have just gotten better (and more diverse) over the years, excellent chill ambiance, and overall great place to visit, whether its a Monday night or a Saturday afternoon. I've been there for the trivia (very competitive!), for local artists playing guitar, and even a Valentine's Day version of the Dating Game/Newly Wed game live on stage. I most recently had some friends in town, and they were so in love with the beers, they insisted on trying EVERY ONE. It took awhile, but we succeed :) Some that I've always enjoyed: * Southern/Summer/King Basil * Rocket Science * Beasley's Honey White * Coffee is for Closers * Lucky Straw * Humidity * All the beers from the Fearrington seasonal or Farm's Edge line I can't wait to finally try out their new kitchen :) read more

This place has a great location. Good beer and a fun theme. One of the best breweries around the Durham area.

I had a really disappointing first experience here. It had an off putting smell, and the food was very underwhelming. I got the BLT, which was unique but not in a good way. My friends got the grilled cheese but the cheese wasn't even melted on it. The bread on the sandwiches was phenomenal though, so I will be checking out Ninth Street Bakery in the future. The beer was good, which is why I've bumped my rating from 2 stars to 3. I had the Carver, and I would definitely get it again. But I think I'd rather buy Fullsteam's beer from the grocery store and drink it at home. read more

Worth a drive from Apex for the food! Oh, and they have great beer too. We ordered curbside contactless pickup today and got just about one of everything for our family of 5. Standard beer garden seating with long wooden tables and tons of board games! There is quite a large selection of games, and we were able to find something even though the place was packed. The bar area itself gets a little crowded, but the staff are very nice. Bartender was very knowledgeable about their beers, so A+ for them. They have a very large selection of beers! I'll probably have to come back 2-3 times to try them all. The Rocket Science is a solid east coast IPA with a good balance of hops and malt. I would definitely recommend. We also tried the assorted pickle plate, which was fantastic. I initially balked at buying pickled strawberries and cauliflower, but am now a big fan. Every item on the plate had the perfect amount of crunch, and a pleasant saltiness that went well with the beer. read more

So I'm a long time Durham resident and have casually been coming to Fullsteam for a few years now. I mostly come for the causal and open atmosphere, especially because there are a lot of dogs and friendly folks. However tonight I was at Fullsteam with friends after dinner and it's Thursday so it was trivia. Unfortunately we were too late to start a trivia team but we were playing ping pong and some of my group were enjoying a causal drink. An employee came over to two of us while we were playing ping pong and asked us to quiet down (totally fine) but then made the assumption that we were underage because we're east and south Asian. This was incredibly annoying, and just because we look younger and are playing ping pong instead of trivia doesn't mean that we're underage at a bar. He then came over and dictated that there was a rule where people must be over the age of 21 after 9PM at the bar, which is absurd because I've seen ACTUAL CHILDREN at Fullsteam well after 9PM. He then came over and asked me (one of the people with a drink) if I was SUPERVISING my friends, who again did NOT need to be supervised as they were perfectly of age as per his ludicrous rule. They were so uncomfortable and annoyed that we all just left and the people who hadn't gotten beers yet (mostly because it was very crowded at the bar, because trivia) decided that Fullsteam was just not worth it tonight and maybe not until their customer service improves. Take heed y'all, you shouldn't be driving out locals. I'm incredibly disappointed. read more

i went for opening night, and to be succinct...the beer tasted awful. I tried the cream ale.. the IPA was OK.. I didn't try the porter after smelling it--the smokiness was too pungent for me. My friends concurred. I will probably give Fullsteam another go... maybe after they perfect their craft. Also, during the dog days of summer--the lack of air conditioning--lead everyone to sit/stand outside either on the lawn of a nearby business or in the back of the brewery on the driveway. Quite an interesting sight! read more

One of my favorite places in Durham. My husband is (suddenly) obsessed with NEIPAs and they have been putting out some great ones lately. Sometimes I'm sad when they rotate a great beer out and bring in new ones but they always bring in new DELICIOUS ones so I forgive them. But I do miss Southern Basil. Can she please come back this summer!? I love to come here with my NEIPA husband, my dog, sit outside, eat cheese tots, drink beer, and play connect four. I haven't seen the connect four lately so I hope she's not gone too. Either way still love this place! read more

Ooookay, so I've changed my mind about Fullsteam. Before, I thought, sure, this joint is a solid four stars (yay! I *am* a fan!). But, now, after several more visits and very thoughtful consideration, I feel confident saying here that Fullsteam is in fact ... as good as it gets! Woohoo indeed! The following simple additions have increased my opinion of this fine establishment: now there is always at least one---often two, even three---food trucks parked outside. The usual suspects include, but of course are not limited to, Pie Pushers, Farmhand Foods, Chirba Chirba, Only Burger, and The Parlour. There really is nothing better, in my opinion, than enjoying a pint of Summer Basil with a slice of basil pizza from Pie Pushers (the beetza, too, is where it's at!). Also, now the bar area is fully closed and air conditioned / heated. No more freezing your arse off in winter / getting right melted in summer. Hurrah! Fullsteam are wicked awesome sponsors and I see them (and set myself up with an IV drip of Summer Basil, where available, Working Man's Lunch or Rocket Science IPA or Carver when it's not) at all manner of events, and I love how much time, effort, and delicious, delicious beer they have contributed to the community. Plus, they always be Tweeting at me. Or, should I say, I Tweet at them, and then they'll respond and retweet. They make me feel so speshul! They have a ton of events, too, so keep an eye on their Twitter and facebook pages for timely updates. Now, too, with Motorco, Geer St. Garden, and Surf Club in the vicinity, there's a straight-up pub crawl just waiting to happen, a thing of beauty not yet born when I first rolled down the mountain from Asheville only to land in the increasingly glorious Durham in 2003. Viva la Warehouse District! read more
