I've been here several times and enjoyed it every time. The beer is always good and there is a wide selection. I LOVE getting the flights! Parking can be a little tricky...there is a paid parking lot across the street and sometimes you can find free street parking. The interior is very small but cute. All of the wait staff has been really nice and knowledgeable about their beer. I believe there is a outdoor space out back but I've never been. I also believe they have trivia but I'm not sure what night/time...I'm not sure if I would go then since it is so tiny inside and sure to get packed quickly. Whenever I find myself on 9th Street, I somehow magnetically end up here. It is usually not packed-full, but jovial enough. The beer selection on the large screens is maybe intimidating. But the barkeeper always knows how to narrow it down to something that really pleases me. They make do so well with their small location and I am very pleased to see they are going to open an additional very big location closer to downtown! I talked with the barkeeper about it, since they have an interesting diagram on their wall. He said probably by December of this year! (and this location remains also). How exciting! read more

Nice little beer drinking spot surrounded by a bunch of dining options. Picked this as a place to meet some friends because they have multiple dark beer options, for those wanting something else besides American lagers and IPAs. We enjoyed multiple interesting offerings. Sat out on the streetside tables and enjoyed some food from the Vietnamese place next door. Ordered inside there and they brought it out to the brewery seating when it was ready. Truly impressed as someone who rarely likes beers. The brewery offers their own products on tap and other locally made drafts. Favorite of the night was the stout - smooth like good coffee, no bitter aftertaste. The brown ale was great too, with nutty notes. Did not feel heavy or bloated after! Very cool little nano brewery in Durham. Stopped in after a softball game because I needed a beer, and this place was a great decision. The beer menu is well curated, the House BEERS were outstanding for a small brewery, and the service was great. The kid working at the bar was very helpful, only to me, but to everyone that came in. I ordered a "Durhamer Brown Ale"...notes of chocolate bread and dried fruit. My buddy ordered the "Cuvee #1", with notes of oaky spice and dark fruits with dry tannic finish. Went for lunch and was sorely disappointed. The service was slow and they got some of our orders wrong. I got the OG burger thinking a burger from a bar/restaurant would be a safe choice but was mistaken. The party was so thin it was more like just eating bread. The fries were also a disappointment as they were suspiciously similar to McDonald's. Not bad fries, but I would expect better than a low quality fast food chain. read more

Flying Bull Beer Co is small but cute. You can sit inside, outside in the front or head to the back to the beer garden. There is a mix of their beer on tap with other local NC options, they will eventually be replacing some with more of their own beers. Tried for first time. Only one person behind bar doing it all. Lots of dirty dishes, mess on bar, people waiting for drinks and orders. very disorganized. Kitchen person came out and said he was only person in kitchen. Nice people, food was good, liked the beer. But way too short staffed. Also vibe was not very inviting. We dropped into Flying Bull after a Duke game and had a wonderful experience. They have a really cozy outdoor dining/lounge area with fire pits at each table, which is where we sat. Everything we had was delicious.....roasted cauliflower, wings, salad, and wine. Service was spot on as well. We also heard the couple behind us commenting on how amazing the food was. My cousin and I had about an hour to kill before dinner across the street and just took a chance on this place. It was a nice atmosphere with quite a few draft options. I hate to say this but I don't recall the exact name of the beer I had that is brewed at Crankarm in Raleigh but it was something creamsicle-it was a nice beer with great flavor and I would certainly order it again! Round two of drinks, I felt compelled to switch it up and try a seltzer, cherry mango flavor. It was good, very refreshing! We enjoyed our first round out back in the beer garden, witch in my opinion could use some sprucing up but the shade was nice. The seating out front was a nice option too. read more

We hosted a private event at Flying Bull mid-February 2023 and it was lovely. The team was very helpful and they were remarkably easy to work with. We hosted 100+ people between the inside and outside area and it was perfectly filled to create the atmosphere we were hoping for. Flying Bull has a great selection of Beer, Wine, Cider, and non-alc drinks. The Cranberry Sour was our favorite! This is a wonderful place to hangout with friends, spend an afternoon, or host a private event. We would absolutely have an event here in the future and highly recommend you do too! This place is fantastic! My wife and I were in town visiting our daughter and stumbled across this place while walking in the neighborhood. The inviting space called us is. The service is super friendly and the beer is fantastic. DON'T MISS their Bull Moon Black IPA! It's exclusively available here so I'll have to live with that when we return home to Virginia. The are Dog Friendly, have a nice outdoor beer garden in the back and good TVs inside. They only serve snacks (chips and such) but you can get food delivered from any of the great eateries in the area. $$$$$ Beers were alright, but nothing to snack on while drinking. No pretzels, chips. Only a meat and cheese Bullboard for $21.00 if you want two meats. Only enough for two people, that are not hungry. $22.00 cheeseburgers, ordered med-rare came out TAR-TAR. Two lamb chops $26.00 (small plate order) Waitress was asked about a menu item, she said "I don't know what that is". Not I will ask, or i will inquire. This was not the place we were headed to unwind after our looong work week. Got off work and decided to head to Ninth street for a bite to eat. Parked the car and started strolling. The heat was hitting and my thirst needed quenching. Almost like an oasis in the dessert the Flying Bull appeared. The irony of this being my first time there, they were celebrating their one year anniversary. On top of that, I was able to be the first to try their newly brewed on tap Peach Beer and man was it Good. So good I had to have not 1, not 2 not....well you get the picture. Unbeknownst there was a beer garden in the back with a band. Mind you all of this is on Ninth Street. This place is a slice of Heaven, a hidden gem of the Bill City. We even were greeted by the owners (Joel and Anna) and their friends, who sat with us shared their story, laughed, talked about our children and our love of music. Such a good time. Food was served by Al's Burger Shack outta chapel hill and while the burger and deviled eggs were delightful, the broccoli salad was some kinda good. The Band had a last minute adjustment and had to pull together some vocalists but you would never know it as they didn't miss a beat. I can't believe I missed the first year but I won't miss the next years as I plan to frequent this slice of Heaven for years to come. A relatively new addition to the 9th Street scene, The space is very inviting, although small. There is limited outdoor seating (in front and behind the building), which was full (COVID limitation), so we had a fun chatting with the bartender and his dog. There is a great beer selection, both their own brews and guest taps. We were drinking Four Saints from Asheboro (one of our favorite breweries). All the major styles were represented and many North Carolina breweries were available. They only serve snacks but we were told we could bring in food or have delivered. A great place. Flying Bull is an awesome new brewery in Durham! The owners and staff always make the place very welcoming! They serve a wide selection of beers from North Carolina including a limited selection of their own beers so far.
