My friend and I run here throughout the week! It is quiet, enough greenery to forget you're in a city, and bonus points for the multiple dogs you see on the trail. Parking is a breeze. There's a lake nearby and different routes you can take. There are a few trashcans and they are usually pretty full on the weekends. I haven't seen a restroom but there are plenty of businesses nearby. Note there are some large gaps on the trail- hoping they fill it up soon. Sometimes there is horse droppings so be mindful where you step. We will be back! read more

Fullerton Loop Trail -- with several intersections of other mini trails is a serene, 3-mile loop nestled within the heart of several neighborhoods. Perfect for a peaceful walk, jog, or bike ride, the trail winds through a variety of landscapes, including shaded trees, open meadows, and some benches along the path. This is a great city hilly ride for bikers. It does get crowded at times but it is really a gem. I've ridden about 12 miles on a loop whether it's all Fullerton or more but have now branched out to find new areas I like. Only issue I have is other riders don't give right of way to walkers.I had one idiot who passed me on a downhill cuz he thought he was racing me I guess. If I had turned for a drop or rock we would have both been injured. But I still like riding during the weekday. Not so many novice riders. I came here, driving down Harbor Blvd, like I was Gwen Stefani. I did not park at the golf course because I read all the signs, I parked in the Brea Damn parking which was an unpaved dirt lot, when I came back, my car was still there. I used All Trails to map the route, and I saw a closed gate, I thought it was an error, but, later on, I saw people walking the last part of the trail I was supposed to have walked. Maybe it was my error, lesson learned, at least I got to see a beautiful sunset. Next time, I will check if there is a bathroom and water fountain, I did not check if there was one in the park area next to the parking lot. read more

I'm a frequent rider of this trail and it's pretty fun. It can range from 11 miles to upwards of 14 miles, depending on which route you take. If you take the loop and hit up the path by the Brea Dam, there's plenty of decent sized (some are quite intimidating) jumps. Other than that, there's a lot of optional side trails for some added excitement. Night rides are also common here. Parking is at the courthouse and there's PLENTY of it. Like, a LOT. On the weekends it could get busy with foot traffic but the loop is so long that the path is never really crowded. You'll run into the occasional piles of horse poop but that's about it. It's a nice double track with some single track action here and there, uphills, downhills, and some jumps. I would say the difficulty of the loop ranges from beginner to intermediate. It's definitely a good workout and can be finished in a little over an hour (or even less), and it's a great place to practice if you're new to biking. read more

Update. Been going to this park / court for the last year. So far, great place for walks, jogs runs biking ect. Trails can be from 2 - 3 miles and up to 6 to 8 miles depending on trail you choose. Most day's and nights, you'll find quite a few people parked here, either on the upper parking area or on the lower. Most park on the lower, due to more safety and increased people traffic. Pet friendly, keep on leashes please. Can also be use as a horse trail. During the holidays or rain season usually the area is quiet and empty. But most nights, up to 8 or 9, you'll find many on the trail via bike. read more

First time here to hike and loved it! Very cool to be surrounded by so many trails here that it's making me want to live here! We didn't do the whole loop but did about two hours RT from start of the parking lot at Fullerton courthouse to Laguna Lake. Easy trail, not too crowded today, easy parking-fantastic time! The parking is also close to local restaurants so after the hike we just walked over to Cookin crab by pho lantern. Highly recommend this trail! read more

Nice trail to walk or bike.very clean and busy too. A lot of people by 6 am on the 4th of July that I was there. Definitely a lot more bikers than other trails I've being to. A lot of different trails to explore once you pass the tracks. Will be back for sure. read more

The reason I love the loop is because of all the options and short cuts. We do a lot of group rides here and depending on the skill level determines which route we take people. There are single track, fire road and city street all on same route. I love riding uphill, and there are plenty of hills here to keep me busy. Im not so thrilled of going down hill. Iam convinced this trail is haunted. I heard someone call my name loud and clear and nobody was around. You can google it and see for yourself. If your looking to ride, Fullerton Bikes cordinates a ton of rides. Night rides are the best. We also have a FB group OCRR orange county rookie riders. We do a lot of group rides. Just remember never ride alone, bring your helmet and lots of water. read more

Great trail for a beginner to moderate mountain biker. This trail is a lil over 12 miles, of up and down hills, some flat areas, with some great scenery at a couple points. Majority of the trail is around Fullerton houses and some parks. Its pretty good though, to do by yourself, or some friends. If you like to mountain bike, you should definitely try it out. read more

This place was a blast for mtb! I love the old train tracks and the different slopes. But needs more improvement to have a clear map of the trail to prevent getting lost esp. for those first timers like me. And be extra careful because there's a lot of crossing busy streets. read more

Funny that I lives in Fullerton for two years, but never knew of the full loop's existence. Sure I rode bits of it, but never the whole thing. Boy was I missing out. Having just returned to mountain biking, with some new gear, I am always looking for fun trails in the general area. I enjoy cross country single track riding. I am not the strongest climber, though I will climb when needed, and I am not flying down downhill sections. The Fullerton Loop really fits into the sweet spot of where I like to ride. I would hesitate to call it a beginner ride, because there are a few steep sections, but if you are a bold beginner and are able to stay in control on steeper descents, then you should have no issues. More advanced riders can add slightly more technical sections, but there was nothing in the 8 mile loop (there are 3 distances) that was overly technical unless you really go searching for a hard line. For most of the trail, there is a wider main trail and parallel single track sections that are more fun, but a lot narrower and a bit more rutted. Be aware that there are a lot of riders on the trail, and it is heavily used by hikers and runners as well. read more

Darshan R. and I decided to start the New Year off by doing what we doing best (or at least I like to believe) - trying to stay active. It was a nice, sunny day (83 degrees) so we took advantage and did a 10k hike. We started off at Laguna Lake Park until Beach Blvd. (I think) then back around. The trail has something for everyone, from beginners to intermediate whether you mountain bike, walk, run or ride your horse. Plus, it's mostly flat but there are some small hills. I saw several kids with their parents riding or plain walking. It also goes through various residential parts of Fullerton so don't be surprised if you cross several streets. Even though I didn't get to see the entire "loop," I would like to go back and hike the entire trail sometime, or even ride my bike. [TIP] Bring water; I only saw 1 drinking fountain. read more

Concurring with other reviews this is a good light trail, and good for beginners. It is very difficult to navigate though especially for first time riders. The trails are NOT well marked; it is easy to get lost as I did several times.... I spent more time frustrated / backtracking than enjoying the ride. read more

This is a great place to ride/hike and take in nature without having to actually leave the city. I started mountain biking here a couple years ago (i guess more accurately called "trail riding" for the snooty bikers that insist on not calling this novice trail "mountain biking") anyway point being.. I take my mountain bike here after work on weekdays and meet up with friends to ride. Its a good release/getaway after a long workday and it doesn't hurt that its good exercise. On top of that, fullerton has great places to eat nearby after a ride. Yeah its an easy trail but it doesn't mean it cant be challenging. My new goal is to finish the loop in under an hour. It is only boring if you let it be. Find the extra credit sections! Here's a TIP for mountain bikers out there: If youre coming up on a slower rider/hiker/horse -- DONT BOMB THEM. Announce that you're coming, slow down if necessary, and give an acknowledgement when you're going to pass. Nothing like an arrogant ass that just bombs down on another peson and surprises/scares the hell out of them. Show some courtesty and maybe we won't have such a bad rap with the people who share we share the trails with. read more

There's a lot of bikers in this area :) It's quite awesome. The trail isn't long. It gets cut-off by Bastanchury Road. So, if you want a longer walk, just cross the street and at the end of the block you'll see a trail starting again. There are shades, but it's on and off. read more

Our first time here, the trail was ok, but where's all the"FULLERTON LOOP TRAIL" signs?!... We got lost a few times, now I'm sure it's the weather but I didn't see any river, however I did come up to a lake, (under construction) we rode our bikes around and ended up on Euclid Street lol... We never did come to a loop, but I did adventure off down a secluded path where a beautiful horse came up to the fence to greet us right before I crashed my bike into someone's white fence, that really hurt. I fell and scraped myself pretty good, but it's part of the adventure lol. Now I'm bummed that we got lost since we only managed to do 5 1/2miles according to my phone when the trail is said to be 10miles, maybe next time. read more

Came down for the weekend and rode three laps on my old playground (3rd was night ride). I missed the warm weather (I now live on SF Bay Area) Trail was dry as expected post summer, loose and sandy in some areas but widened and almost paved like in what used to be technical sections. Does anyone still climb the power line (now with cell phone antennas) to the far left before the dam? This used to drop at the parking lot of what now the AAA office. The golf place closed the trail due to balls landing on the old trail. Busy and crowded on Saturday morning, so I started late Sunday and stayed for a night run. Fun as always, an urban playground for adults and kids alike. read more

The trailis very nice. Lots of trees. Lots of green. It feels like being in the mountains, right in the middle of O. C. Great to walk or bike or take pets for a walk. What I did not like is funding my car with a smahed window( right across from the courthouse; that's brazen). Next time I'll park closer to the building. I will come again though ; It's a wonderful set of trails. Love the old oak trees. Especially on Juanita Cook trail. If someone from the city reads this: when are we going to get an official pump track for bicicles and skates and roller blades... etc? Much needed in OC. Tons of sports fields, except for bikes to practice skills. I can assure the city and county will get the money back on taxes from sales of all bike riders purchasing in the city and county. Fullerton loop is already attracting many bikers from all over the county and beyond. Check what Bentonville, Arkansas did to attract bike riders. read more

Some steep short uphills to climb and flowy trails. Fantastic beginner loop and lots of areas to regroup and benches/ dirt spots to take your scenic ridge picture. Hikers have the right of way-- so be kind, thoughtful, and courteous. Some gravel grabber sections if you ride the summit house "extra credit" portion of the loop-- just twerk and shake your tail feather a bit to keep traction. Most enjoyable ride! (No jumps, no need for armor or full helmet -- this is not that kind of loop-- go to summit or skyline if looking for Adrenaline) cheers! read more

This will be a beginner trail for hiker / biker. You park your car at very south side of the parking lot of Fullerton court bldg. You will find many guys/gals loading/unloading the bike.. Once ready, you will find dirt trail headed north. On weekend, it will get busy. Many people will hike, jog, mountain bike this trail. Once you hike/bike up about 1/4 mile up, you will find a trail to left that descent to another dirt trail, which should last for about another mile or so.. If you're on mtn bike, you can continue on to connect w/ some street riding / dirt-road riding to make a loop which you will get a pretty good work out. If you're hiking, when you hid Euclid street, you may want to revert back on same road, since the loop may be too long of hike .. This is an ok trail to just chat / hike w/ friends & catch some breeze. Once I decide to go back hardcore mtn bike again, I will review some of the trails I used to frequent.. read more

Great place for an after-work mtn bike ride. One of the few places still open to night riding. Terrain is mixed with short, challenging climbs and and fun downhill. Would NOT recommend going after a rain as mud puddles and slippery surfaces may be an issue - and is bad for the trail. One needs to be very vigilant at crosswalks, some drivers completely ignore the yellow crossing signals. Overall it's got something for advanced as well as beginner mtn bikers. read more

I love how dog friendly this trail is! My dog is blind and she doesn't have any parts she struggles on. There is an adorable watering spot for our four legged friends, and we really appreciate them providing it! There is Free and convenient parking. There are always many people around, so I feel safe being a young female going alone. You can choose to either have a nice small walk, or you can turn this into a challenge and go the full 12 miles. Great trail for the beginner. Whether hiking, trail running or mountain biking.. this is a great start for all.. There are some off side technical parts for mountain biking as well. But over all a great tempo or Fartlek course. You get to see horses, LLAMMAS if you are lucky, goats, sheeps, & possibly a Bison/buffalo along the trails. Don't feel like getting lost in the loop? Tried to attempt this with a hybrid bike, and I don't suggest it. There's a stretch of the trail that my bike was not able to do that had a bunch of rocks and ditches in the ground that my bike just couldn't take. Other than that one stretch the trail was pretty fun. Not too tiring considering I don't exercise - like ever, so if you are in shape it should be extremely easy. To do the complete loop you'll need some type of map on your phone as reference because there are a lot of forks in the trail with no information as to which way to go. The full loop took us a couple of hours to complete. Several steep inclines and descents. A lot of pretty scenery considering you are just in Fullerton, and the trail is not too busy, would definitely do this trail again. read more

It's the Floop! If you have a mountain bike and live in SoCal, you are missing out if you haven't ridden this trail! Its not too difficult or challenging, but it's always fun for beginners or advanced riders. Fun downhill sections, good climbs, lots of shade trees, nice views, its just all good. read more

I just had my first mountain biking experience here! Most of the trail is pretty easy and flat so it's nice for beginners. It's pretty dusty, especially if you're riding behind other people so be prepared for that. I was surprised that a lot of this ride actually included residential and street areas, but that made it easier. The uphills killed me! Most of the hills are small, but there are a couple bigger ones, which I had to walk. I loved the downhills, though... so fun! For my first time, they were a little scary to maneuver but I love the rush. Just be careful and ride within your limit. The trail is about 14 miles total and loops back to the parking lot. The Fullerton Loop is one of my favorite places to ride. It provides enough climbing and downhill activity, and is a great after work ride. The whole loop is about 11 miles and takes you through various parks in the city, as well as a jaunt along a golf course. I'm a recent convert to mountain biking and the Fullerton Loop is exactly the right place for me. It's challenging enough to keep my more experienced friends happy, but not so intimidating that I can't get through almost all of it. (Little Wicked, I will conquer you yet!!) Tips - Do the loop clockwise, everybody does and you'll seriously be going against traffic if you don't. You will occasionally see horses, yield to them. Say "good morning!" unless it's not morning. Then offer a different appropriate greeting to passers-by. read more
