I checked OfferUp and Target but they were either unavailable or too expensive. I bought some gloves at Target out of desperation $20/each (for a one time venture) and thought to check at Big 5 after. Thank goodness I found them at $10/ each! I was able to get the gloves for 4 people and some boots for my son at $30 (bought a size up for next year). OfferUp had used ones for $30+ so I knew it was in the range. Also, I had bought a snow board that I ended up forgetting at home so returned back a few weeks later for a refund. The process was quick and easy.

Their reasoning? The cleats had been worn. Silly me! I didn't realize cleats bought for playing soccer were supposed to sit in a glass display case as a decorative centerpiece. Nobody mentioned this "pristine condition only" rule at checkout, and there isn't a single word about it printed on the receipt--which explicitly states items can be returned within 90 days. ​To top off the customer service experience, the staff casually informed me that this ripping is a "known defect" with this Adidas model and told me to take it up with the manufacturer. That raises a fascinating question: If you knowingly stock and sell a defective $300 product, why is your immediate response to wipe your hands clean and push the problem onto the customer? ​If Dick's Sporting Goods wants to sell luxury-priced gear with zero accountability and a return policy that only applies to items you never actually use, they should print that on the receipt instead. Cool beans! Also, the 8oz is a better deal than the 4oz and the only disadvantage is that it won't fit inside the JetBoil pot. The cashier asked if I want to apply some past credit I forgot about which brought the total expense even less! EVA and manager AARON falsely accused me of returning the wrong item, even though the item matched my REI account, app, original tags, barcode, and product details. They made this accusation in front of my family and other customers, which was very embarrassing. I asked them a simple question: "What exactly is different?" They refused to answer. That tells me they had no real answer. They accused me first, then avoided explaining their own accusation. While EVA was still processing the return, AARON told me to leave and threatened security for no valid reason. After all that, they still processed the return. So the item was correct all along. This was a false accusation, poor judgment, zero accountability, and terrible management. REI leadership should review this incident seriously.

I am a frequent Yelp user and decided to bring this matter here. 6/7/23 at 1:29pm Cashier:Casey A elderly woman with mid length hair. I was there to make a return. I was asked by Casey to place my card in the terminal, I entered my pin and the card was to be removed. Casey exclaimed that I did this wrong and I'd have to do it again. So I placed my card back into the terminal and then it prompted me to enter my pin, I motioned my hand over to enter the pin when Casey yelled"NO!!" And SLAPPED MY HAND I Said " do not touch me!" She continued to explain that I Wasn't doing it right and took over the terminal. Apparently I Wasn't supposed to put my pin in.... Why have your terminal ask me for the pin and then have an associate attack me for following instruction. Ultimately I did not appreciate being smacked. Casey later apologized for smacking me. I drove out on Saturday, August 29, and it was the wrong bat. If a customer takes the time to call ahead and confirm inventory before a long drive, that confirmation should mean something. Please make sure staff actually know what is in stock before telling someone yes. It cost me a wasted afternoon that a five minute check could have prevented.
