Let me just start by saying if you order in the drive through keep it at a minimum. My family and I being first time customers decided to try some full moon in Alabaster after doing some shopping so we chose to go through the drive through. Let me break this down for you all: We ordered the wings with the Alabama white sauce there was NO white sauce anywhere to be found and the wings tasted extremely dry along with the greasy and dry "macaroni and cheese". We also ordered the loaded baked potato which clearly had been sitting out for at least an hour or two and popped back in the microwave. I ordered the grilled chicken buffalo sandwich which I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to experience this meal. I opened the sandwich the chicken wasn't in the bun but thrown in the wrapping also get this, THERE WAS NO BUFFALO SAUCE TO BE FOUND. The sandwich was extremely dry I had to throw it away the chicken which was chewy and stringy, ew. My mom ordered some fried green tomatoes which some how never showed up in the bag. While it was a big order we placed the wait was 20 minutes which was fine but I was expecting my order would have been right. We were given a free pack of cookies for the long wait (which were donated right to the trash with the level of dryness). Needless to say, the customer service was great the food was horrible. I recently moved to AL. I lived in Kansas City for a bit and developed a love for BBQ. I love trying new BBQ places wherever I go. I found their shredded pork sandwich to be yum! Their BBQ sauce is good too. (Red, haven't tried the Alabama white BBQ sauce yet.) I am personally not a fan of chow chow, so I requested none on the sandwich. Steak fries are good. Tea is good. Chili was delicious! Also, their Greek salad was surprisingly abundant in veggies besides lettuce. I was pleased with the taste, quality and service. Atmosphere is Alabama sports. I am a fan of Full Moon, its a good BBQ and quick. I had been to the one in Homewood many times because its near my work, the one is Alabaster is my home base one. One of my co-workers got me hooked on their chicken, it is very addictive. The ribs were good and the sides were good. What a Welcoming atmosphere to enjoy outstanding food and friendly staff that provided a much needed tiny respite from our difficult day. The courteous employees were under the obvious example of the professionalism of Assistant Manager Jacarie Calhoun. He was aware of the various stations and provided assistance and encouragement. He friendly approached with the stature of leadership, yet earnest courteously to assist and teach the cashier a way to fulfill my unique menu order due to health needs. He did so in a way that put all of us at ease, myself, the cashier and even my husband to not be embarrassed and what to do next time. My husband and I are on the return side of an 8 hr round trip drive started this morning from the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay to Birmingham's UAB Kirklan Clinic and back. It is tasking and hard when not feeling well and such a sacrifice for my husband to take me to one doctors appointment (sometimes more). But this trip, we have found it is not only the quality of care and service I get medically that makes it worth it, but the incredible quality of service, EXCELLENT FOOD, (that Will be able to help me for a couple days now) and Most of all the very very pleasant, much needed uplift in spirits by helping me to find food I desperately need nutritionally, am able to try and see how my body tolerates, and look forward to instead of dread doing so. Little little things, like packaging, that may make a huge difference in my health this week. I was able to eat an excellent source of protein in a delicious piece of catfish. We were out shopping and decided to give this place a try. We have never eaten at a full moon Bbq. Was not to my liking, I got a pork sandwich with frys ,the meat was dry and I didn't like the bbq sauce (not that it was bad ) it just wasn't the kind I prefer... it was a very sweet sauce. The tea was also waay too sweet for my taste ... I had to mix half unsweet in my glass to get it right. My GF got a baked potato (can't remember what it was called on the menu) it was loaded with bbq sour cream cheese ect. I tried it and it tasted good ... but she got an upset stomach from it ... says shes done with full moon lol . Anyway the service was not too great and we had to look around to find a table that was clean enough to eat at. Didn't look like any of them had been wiped down. I have always been a fan of Full Moon. I was craving some juicy spare ribs today. I have had them many times here before and they have always been very good. I went through the drive thru and ordered a whole slab of spare ribs. It cost almost $24. I was so disappointed when I got home. The ribs were so over cooked they were black and crunchy. The meat had shriveled so much there was hardly anything on each bone. I managed to get about three of them down with lots of sauce. They were so dry they almost had the consistency of beef jerky. They were so bad they were inedible and went straight in the trash. Maybe it was just a bad day or there was a new person cooking. It will be a long time before I go back. So my wife and i ordered takeout from Full Moon Monday night. I had ribs, chicken, pinto beans & collard greens. My wife ordered a veggie plate with the same veggies i had plus something else i can't remember. We get the food home and start looking at the greens. Here is what we pulled out of both plates of greens. Now I've been raised in the south my entire life. I've eaten all kind of greens prepared by a variety of different people. I have never in my life eaten greens with stems and stalks added to the pot! This is horrible, disgusting, fraudulent and disrespectful to southern cuisine. Never order the greens from Fullmoon unless you like eating stems & stalks in your greens. We reported our find to the manager and they agreed to refund our money. We cake in late Thanksgiving eve. The place was nasty and the crew was rude along with the female manager on duty. We ordered a pulled pork plate and a pulled pork sandwich. One of the sides they had to make fresh and it took us asking for it after we ate dinner to get it along with a side of attitude for free. Coleslaw was amazing. My absolute favorite BBQ restaurant. I almost always get barbecue pork although the other meats are very good. The service is good and the product is exceptional. They serve the BBQ sandwiches with relish on them as opposed to slaw. The relish is a delightful alternative. Backed beans are good too. I eat at one of Full Moon's locations everytime I am in the Birmingham area. Passed through last week and then again this week. Among the items I got this time was the BBQ potato. Fantastic and very tasty. So large it will feed a family of four. Then tried the carrot cake. Oh my goodness, I'm going to move to Alabaster so I can have this every day. The sweet tea is delicious, I love the BBQ, the macaroni and cheese is wonderful...and the half moon cookies, OHMIGOD they're amazing. I love BBQ, and having grown up in the South, do consider myself qualified to know good "Q" when I see/eat it. I typically only get ribs from Full Moon (preferring pulled pork from other places), so I was planning on a good time gnawing a few bones at this Alabaster Shopping Center Location, and decided I'd add a side of one of my fav Southern yummies...deviled eggs, since you can't find these at many places. The ribs were a bit dry while the onion rings were hot & super tasty. (Likely because they mistakenly brought French fries out first & then had to make the rings immediately to correct.) But the deviled eggs, alas poor Yorick, were nothing short of vile. They had an extrembly strong nasty taste like fish, and I firmly believe they were made much earlier & put into the frig with little or NO wrapping to keep out the nearby catfish "aroma" that they also now offer on menu. Uugggh, ruined my entire meal. Hope someone who works there reads this and wises up to proper storage methods...so no one else has to "go fishing" for deviled eggs. read more

This particular Full Moon franchise is a pretty consistent. Today we needed lunch after pants shopping for my oldest. My wife could smell the BBQ in the air and when I suggested Full Moon an resounding yes was her answer. Today they're having the Kingwood 5th graders help out to earn money toward their upcoming DC trip. We were greeted by several student and parents/teachers upon our arrival. Our order my son and I got wings wife/ daughter shared a finger plate. Son went traditional wings I went smoked. The traditional medium heat buffalo were a bit on the warm side according to my son. He is on the wimpy side when it comes to heat levels. The smoked which are served with white bbq sauce are also tossed in sauce of your choice I went hot and found them rather mild. The buffalos sauce is unique in flavor. Not bad per se but not my fav. The smoked wings were tender, mild smoked flavor and that white BBQ sauce was fanfreakintastic! Exceptional white bbq sauce. That recipe wasn't just thrown together and it's not jar o garbage. It was great. I'm going to buy a bottle next time I'm there great! We each got some fries. They do the thick steak fries and they are good and fried crispy. My wife/daughters chicken fingers were good, they're real chicken, but their particular batch was done about 10 minutes before they removed them from the grease. They were harder and chewier than normal. They have been much better in the past when they were fried a more appropriate amount of time. Wife went w Mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes. The Mac is pretty good for a bbq joint and the fried green tomatoes are surprisingly quite good. The kids at Kingwood earned their tips with their service. Have had several bad experiences here with the cashiers and managers. I keep going back because the food is good but the attitude of the people there is so horrible and nasty. The incident yesterday they didn't give me what I ordered, I asked them to make it right, then they got real verbal with me in front of my son and wouldn't fix the problem and them tried to charge me extra!!! When I find myself in the Birmingham area at lunchtime, I stop by Full Moon BBQ. Today I had lunch with a high school classmate I had not seen in thirty-nine years. I worked with her father at Service Merchandise and bought goods from the store he opened in the years after our time at Service. The Beef Brisket was better than what I had the week before at Jim 'N Nicks BBQ... moist, thin and tasty. The Baked Beans and Potato Salad were equally as tasty. I have never had a bad meal there. Got my order and a separate order of pie and left. Got home and found they had substituted something I didn't want for one of my items ordered. The food is good most of the time. If you get your order to go you should definitely check everything in the bags before you drive away. We used to get dinner at least once a week from here and the odds of getting home with something different than what we ordered were down to about 20%. However lately every time we get to go from here it's been a botched order and the last order included a big baker which was almost ice-cold and must've been a failed attempt to reheat a leftover cold potato! I'm a potato lover but I couldn't even eat some of it because it was terrible . It'll be awhile before I can give them another chance because of so many recent foul-ups but I understand how so many businesses are shorthanded these days. Management really needs to tighten up the ship and check behind the employees to guarantee food orders bagged for takeout are correct AND be more accommodating with an apology when a customer calls to notify them of any problems. If it wasn't for the most delicious chocolate chip cookies they make I wouldn't have kept giving them more chances. After getting that cold potato last time it's going to be awhile for me to get past that and give them another chance.
