Great sushi restaurant, amazing staff there. Not too busy ambiance when being there. Delicious California Roll.

Great sushi on Bayview. Found my new go to spot in midtown. Since I nixed my usual go to spot on Yonge north of Davisville because of supposed "supreme" sushi that no longer held up to its name, I was searching for a new local Japanese place, and found Fukui. A little bit more expensive, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Fukui fit the criteria for what I was looking for. Sushi was fresh and tasty. Beautifully prepared and ready in 15 mins for pick up. I'll be back.

I had an overall positive experience here. I walked into this restaurant for my lunch break and ordered off of their lunch menu. I was craving sushi and ordered the basic maki lunch set. It consisted of 3 pieces each of salmon sushi, tuna sushi, a California-type sushi, and cucumber sushi. The ratio of filling to rice was just right. The sushi rice had adequate seasoning and the fish was very fresh. I also splurged on some uni sushi. I've had mixed experiences with sea urchin in the past so I wanted to try it at this place to see if I would get used to it. And just like that, I was now a huge fan. It was nice and sweet, creamy, and had amazing fish flavour. This was definitely the best uni I've had so far. Service here was great and I would definitely return to this place some time in the future.

poop in the chute of the shrimp, wish they cleaned the shrimp better

having read the reviews we were expecting a 4 star restaurant. We were very disappointed to say the least. The shrimp wasn't properly cleaned, there was still poop in the poop chute of the shrimp. When shown to the waiter he took a photo of it and showed it to the sushi chef. We then immediately asked for the bill which came out to $55 for two people. We paid the bill and vowed never to come back. End of story, at the very least they could of offered to remove the shrimp from the bill or something.

Spent my evening at this place with my husband. We have pre ordered an omakase for one person. Omakase is a blind menu with a series of courses. I really appreciate the effort of the waiter. He spent time explaining the different type of sake to us. When each of the 11 dishes come, he is always there explaining and introducing the dishes to us. I really appreciate his service. About the omakase, I have enjoyed each of the eleven courses (hope that I have counted correctly). Most of these courses are fish and yet I was full before the end of the meal. There is a variety of fish in the course and all of them are fresh and the quality is good. I also like one of the sauces they prepared. Taste somewhat like yuzu. I love the evening spent there. Hopefully will come back again.

One of my favourite sushi restaurants in town! They offer an affordable omakase which offers a variety of fish from Japan that are hard to find. In my opinion, their regular menu is good sushi - doesn't necessarily stand out from other restaurants but their variety of fish is impressive. I personally recommend the sushi omakase, and then adding on additional pieces or other dishes. The foie gras sushi is an interesting piece to try! The restaurant is small and cozy, but rest assured that the sushi will be worth it.

A tiny, cozy restaurant for Japanese food. I love the casual yet intimate environment. The food is delicious and filling for reasonable prices. The staff are friendly too. I would definitely come to this place for a date or just to catch up with a friend over some green tea. The only downside is being on Yonge street, you'll have to find parking somewhere. Of course, the upside is that once you're done your meal, it's located in an area that's a lot of fun to walk around and explore.

I came here last minute on a date on my way to couples salsa lessons and was SO glad I walked in. The entire staff greet you when you enter the restaurant, which is a nice touch. We were seated right away. All of the seating in the restaurant is very close to the sushi bar, so everything is being served right as it's been made. Looking around, it became clear that almost half of the people in the restaurant were regulars. They seemed to have some nice friendship with the staff, and it made it feel very welcoming. My date and I split a sashimi plate and the Toronto roll. Everything was excellent. The fish was exceptionally fresh for the most part, definitely a cut above most other places in the area at a similar price point. If I'm in the area again I will strongly consider this restaurant.

This is the sushi joint up by my parents' house, in South Leaside, the whitest neighborhood next to Rosedale in the city. It's mostly pubs, cause white people LOVE pubs. Fukui is the only sushi joint and it's pretty bomb considering. First of all, it's called Fukui which doesn't take a genius to start bastardizing in English. I used to tell my mom it was "Fukui White People" and that they were having the last laugh. They do take out, but not delivery. The sushi is good enough to safely get a chirashi don without having to drown it in sauce to stomach the crap cuts of fish, but it's not so good that I would eat there as a restaurant. It's also well priced and a godsend when I get the hangover craving for sushi and I'm stuck in pub-land and my folks' house.

Surpisingly good. Grilled mackarel, squid, yakitori and beef sashimi matches well with beer. 5 star is based on the quality of food served.

There were three add-ons (toro with caviar $25, uni with caviar $35, and caviar sushi). I opted in for the toro and uni add-ons. It was strange they give you the add-ons before any other nigiri. Everything was very good and fresh. Standouts for me was the appetizer, all three cuts of bluefin tuna, the lobster (by far my favorite), and the hotaru ika. I would've appreciated knowing that the omakase included or not included toro and uni before I decided on the add-ons but I don't regret it. It was a splurge night after all. Service was very attentive. Note that the dining space is very small. 12 seats around the counter and two tables. There was a very loud gentleman two seats from me who never learned to use his inside voice and totally ruined vibe. But that's not on the staff. Another note is that gratuity is automatic on the bill.

The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming.
