College visits with an exchange student led me to Pittsburgh this week, and I am always on the hunt for bubble tea. I was pleased to find this shop located near Pitt's campus. I went for an original bubble tea without any sweetness, and I though it was good, especially on a hot day walking around campuses. When they say no sweet, they mean it. The tea was strong and I enjoyed the full tea flavor. The tapioca pearls were on the sweet side, so it all balanced out. While there may have been better teas in other places I've tried, this hit the spot perfectly. If I were a student here, I would be really happy to have this location so close. read more

From hot to cold drinks, milk tea to fruit smoothies, lychee popping boba to red bean - they've got it all. And if what you're looking for isn't already in the pre-set menu, you can create your own drink! I prefer to create my own drink, since I love fruity teas. The order is very simple and is as follows: 1. SIZE - small or large 2. TEA - jasmine green or black 3. FLAVORS - you can choose up to 2 from their extensive list! Note: these are usually syrups so they're pretty sweet 4. MILK - whole, half & half, or no milk. And if you're lactose intolerant, I heard you can now add soy milk! 5. SWEETNESS - you must verbalize "none, light, normal, or extra"; not percentages 6. TOPPINGS - first one is free! My personal favorites are tapioca and lychee jelly There's free wifi (although it's not very reliable) and outlets near the seats! Fast and friendly service, it is a staple for me when I am back in the Campus area. I tried several other flavors and I have always loved the Thai Green tea with boba (with soy milk). This is my goto bubble tea spot so far in Pittsburgh, though I am trying to try them all with the same drink order of brown sugar boba milk tea. I've been there a couple times and they are consistently good and the service is great. I think the value proposition is high at this shop as the drinks seem very large and they taste great! I love good ice and theirs was sparkling and very hard. The boba had a great texture and went up the straw no problem. Are the boba Q or QQ? I don't know, but I think very good! The workers are honest and refunded me a small amount of money for paying in cash when I was charged the credit card price. Who knew there was even a difference? I appreciate their honesty very much as a customer. The store looks very clean. On street parking only, but that is to be expected in Oakland. First time trying this place! And I love it so much! I've heard a lot of people say that it's the go to bubble tea spot in Pittsburgh and I can see why. They're known for their green thai tea, which tastes really good. Simliar to regular thai tea except for the color and the sweetness (it's less sweet). Besides the green thai tea, I tried the Black and Gold which is the green tea, mango and passionfruit with lychee jelly and mango jelly. And it tastes great! TLDR: This is definitely the best place to get boba in this area in my opinion, so if you're craving boba you don't need to think about it too much.. just come here. I felt a bit embarrassed but just said I was tryna help out the business :). Now they boomin and definitely don't need my help haha. One of the best parts is the boba texture which is just the perfect amount of chewiness and sweetness. The boba is overall cooked soft to right amount and tastes high quality. Props to them because they got the methodology down to the science. Service has been super good every time I've been (shoutout to Rachael K!!). One time, right after ordering I was about to go down to the table to sit and wait, and before I could even sit down they called my order... like thats just insane. Apparently they listen to your order while you order. There is kind of limited space for sitting but still a few spots if they happen to be open. However, being right in Oakland there are a lot of places you can easily go to hangout after, or just hop on a bus right after since the stop is just outside. This is actually the place where I had my first date with my girlfriend (shoutout Monica S!!!!), so I guess Fuku just has a special place in my heart. Best boba you can find in Pittsburgh. Pricing is pretty good for boba (around $3-4 for a cup) and there is a large emphasis on tea. I do recommend the Black and Gold tea however. Sometimes, drinking their boba feels like global warming in a cup-- a weird mixture of hot and cold. For instance, the tea is warm and they pour ice in it to cool it-- kinda like trying to create a snow day by pouring ice on the road. Not very effective and a strange sensation when drinking. On the other hand, this indicates that they use fresh tea and ingredients which is a plus! Boba texture and sweetness was decent, lychee topping is yummy Little seating area, not a good place to study. The hoards of college students that occupy this place in peak hours gives me second hand stress. Possibly the best bubble tea place in Pittsburgh! Mostly because of the quality of their tapioca, and the way you can customize the flavor, sweetness, type of tea, and toppings in your drink. My favorites are green tea, taro, and soymilk or Thai iced tea (with bubbles of course!) One time I came here, and they were out of tapioca. The horror! Fortunately they told me it would be about 15min before a new batch was ready, so I decided to wait. By far, this HAS to be the best milk tea place in Pittsburgh. My boyfriend lives in West Virginia and because Wheeling lacks diversity of food, we always have to drive an hour + to get legit food and milk tea drinks. PROS: Our order usually consist of Thai teas, regular milk tea, or oolong. Every drink has been consistent so far, maybe once my drink was a bit watered down by the ice but you can definitely change how much ice you can put in which is a huge plus. Also, it's great that they have a few milk options for the lactose-intolerant individuals. I like my milk teas creamy, so I usually get mine with half-half or soy, if I'm feelin' a littte splurgy since it's .50 more. I don't get the boba or bubbles (whatever Pittsburgh people call it here), so I can't comment on how chewy, or soft they are. Another great thing about this place is that you can also customize the sweetness level. Adding toppings usually make drinks sweeter because of the syrup it's submerged in so if you want, you can always decrease the sweetness level and if its not to your liking they can add a bit more sweetness to it. A BIG PLUS is unlike the crappy milk tea place across the street called chik n bubbly something, this place does NOT use powder in their drinks, unless you get matcha drink because it does come in powdered form. This place is the best bubble tea in Pittsburgh, hands down. I've tried 'em all, and nothing even comes close. If you want something fruity and not milky, get the Black and Gold! It's a very refreshing drink, especially in the summer. I will say Normal Sweetness is a bit intense, so if you like the level of sweetness somewhere like starbucks has, get light sweetness. Taro is a great option if you want something milky but not necessarily a 'tea' flavor. The best I can describe the taro flavor is cookies and cream, but lavender in color. I always get original milk tea, just because I'm a basic human being, but I love it, and if you don't like coffee but still want a rush it's a great option! The thing I like most is the consistency. I was very excited when I saw the store a few months ago.. Another BUBBLE TEA place The atmosphere is nice. The decor is very modern and sleek I got a milk black tea with bubbles (tapioca) with no sweetness (0%) Their tea isn't strong at all, but eh it will do. A perk is that they have a rewards program w Foursquare Make an account, every time you buy bubble teas, you can type in your number into the tablet there and rack up points. Every 10 you buy you get a free one! Another time I got Hong Kong Milk Tea, not realizing it wasnt real Hong Kong Milk Tea, which tends to have a stronger tea taste, NOT READING the fine print until AFTER i had ordered it for my bro and i.... yeah ok. I really cannot say enough good things about this tea place. I will admit to everyone that I am a bubble tea snob/addict. Their "soft opening" I went too many times to count. As a side note if you sign up the for their phone number reward program if you buy 12 teas you get one free! And I know for certain I will be getting a few free teas.... Their tea menu is now hanging up in my cubicle. I have been checking off the tea that I like and making comments on why and the ones that I hate I have also written the same. Is that crazy?? (Don't answer that.) I love a few things. 1.) They currently do not have a minimum amount to use a credit card. A lot of the other places (hint: Chik n Bubbly) have a $5.00 minimum and quite frankly you have to get the larger side and double the bubble sometimes in order to achieve that. The fact that I can slide my card for a $3.00 order is great. I do not carry cash on me all the time so this allows me to get my drink on while getting the size and drink I want. 2.) You can get your first order of toppings, FOR FREE. Yes ladies and gentleman your first topping order is free. SERIOUSLY. Other places it is .50 per topping. I mean their toppings are pretty straight forward. They have jelly, popping boba, and of course tapioca. I will say that if you go right when they open they might not have the tapioca ready (happened once). They said that it usually takes an hour and a half to make so they had like 10 minutes more and I couldn't wait. The tapioca were a bit sweet. The sweetness was a bit different from other places that I've had. I would say that if you, like me, do not like super syrupy sweet get the no sweet or the lightly sweetened for your tea. 3.) Their menu. Their menu is seriously awesome. The hot/cold choices are incredibly varied compared to the other places around Pittsburgh. Their hot tea menu is just really really varied. I cannot wait for a cold Pittsburgh day and for me to order a nice hot cup of tea. I love this place. They have snacks to munch on and a nice table to sit at if you want to enjoy your tea there.
