Needed a quick lunch. This place fit that perfectly. Ordered chicken cashew with white rice, veg spring roll, and diet Pepsi. Wait was short, price was fair, service was pleasant, food was hot and good, portions were large. Satisfied.
You have a self order kiosk available which is nice. We got an entree with 1side and entree with 2sides, and a shrimp dumplings. The noodles and tofus are ok. The sesame chicken and orange chicken taste like the same flavor, but it seems they freshly make them. I would recommend the shrimp dumplings, but the rest is ok.
Located in the heart of Schenley Plaza, "Asia Tea House" has been my go-to for inexpensive yet wonderfully delicious American Chinese food. The portions are MASSIVE, and the prices are about $11-$15 depending on what you get (it used to be cheaper before the pandemic, too). The service is quite fast and always friendly--the workers will always greet you from behind the counter. As this is a food stand located in Schenley Plaza, there is no access to sit inside the restaurant so I cannot comment on the ambience. Great place to go if you're in a pinch between classes and are looking for a filling meal!
What an amazing "hidden" gem in Oakland. This food kiosk in Schenley Plaza is a can't miss stop for lunch. When I say everything I order was delicious I'm certainly not lying. The crab rangoons had great flavor and really good filling to shell ratio. The chicken egg roll was one of the best I've ever had. Super crispy without being too greasy. And the teriyaki chicken with lo mein (you have the choice of rice or noodles) was delicious and an mammoth portion. The chicken was well cooked and moist and the noodles were thick and flavorful. If you're looking for a place to rank among the best Chinese food you've had in Pittsburgh that also boast a great atmosphere with outside dining this is the place for you.
The boba was simply inedible and we got the classic one. The boba was weird and kind of flaky? The tea wasn't your traditional milk tea. It had a weird foam on top. We had one sip and left it out all night and the foam in the drink was still foamy?? It tasted weird too. Would not recommend the boba from here. Please go somewhere in Sq. hill, this is not real boba. Love hanging out in schenley though.
One of the better places I've gotten Chinese food from in Oakland! I've ordered this in-person and via Uber Eats now and both ways have had pretty much the same results. This meal cost $10.25 before tax, so pretty good value. The ordering process was fairly simple, and the food came out quickly and HOT. It was shocking how fresh it was. Much more of a grab and go place, as the only seating they have is outdoor seating in schenley plaza. Not a bad thing, but also could be improved!
I stopped by Asia tea house on a recent visit to Pittsburgh, mainly to kill some time before an event. I wasn't sure if I was hungry, thirsty or both and fortunately it was still open so I was in luck regardless. It's a walk up counter with outdoor seating available. A friendly girl opened the sliding door for me to order. They had a decent selection of dishes. I ended up opting for a tea drink which they had about six or seven options. I chose their strawberry bubble drink. Within a few minutes it was ready and I pretty much devoured it. Tons of bubbles inside to chew on and the strawberry drink was not really what I was expecting but I ended up really liking it. It wasn't tea and milky and it wasn't necessary a smoothie it was some sort of hybrid which I really liked overall. And it was only $4 or so for a large which I enjoyed even more. It's a good place for a quick bite or drink in the middle of the college town.
Asia Tea House is exactly what you would expect it to be. It's Panda Express-caliber fake Chinese food, but it's cheap, quick, and convenient. When you're hungry in Schenley Plaza and want a quick snack or a full meal, you can easily order from here and have hot food at your disposal in 10 minutes. The workers are always super nice and you get a lot of food for not a lot of money. My singular takeout meal was enough to last me 3 meals! I would definitely recommend the green beans. The bubble drink was nothing to write home about; neither the drink itself or the boba had much flavor. However, the overall dining experience gets a 5 star from me. You can't expect gourmet dining from a roadside stand!
Very cheap and you get a lot of food. Great for poor college students . Wish they could keep their prices but less food and increase the quality. Bubble tea has nice variety of flavors. Not bad. Nothing stands out here.
Yummmm!! This bubble tea brings me back to when I lived in China and I would *not* be able to tell you the difference between this and what I remember back when I was living in Zaoyang. Just the right amount of tapioca pears with the perfect amount of chewiness suspended in a refreshing and creamy milky beverage. It was both the perfect consistency as well as perfect amount of sweetness. I ordered my favorite flavor - honeydew - and I must tell you it resembles that melon in every single way that you want it to. I have a hard time knowing what a good price would be for this but considering the area it was being sold in as well as the uniqueness of the product I thought it was reasonable. Every now and again you gotta splurge on a little taste of paradise.
The chicken teriyaki with fried rice is genuinely large enough for 2 adults to split. The shrimp egg roll is huge and crunchy, and the crab Rangoon is definitely not one of those crab rangoons that are overwhelmingly cream cheese inside and nothing else. There's a more I'd like try based on this strong first impression.
Great choices and good prices. I love that it's in the center of Pitt's campus. When it's warm out, it's really fun to sit in Schenley to eat and people watch. I used to grab this for lunch when I studied at Hillman, but due to their "no hot food policy" I've been visiting less. However, Asia Tea House has tasty food for a college budget!

Good food. Good service. Good ambiance. I like the boba tea cup. Which is a big deal because it's easy to hold. Chicken was sweet. read more

Why does the bubble tea taste like water now. I am just drinking flavored water. Sad face. It used to be better, which makes me think they started watering it down. Other than that this place is pretty decent for food. But if you want boba go to Fuku Tea, they are so much better. read more

Convenient and affordable but mediocre taste. * Food: I've tried their General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Vegetarian Tofu and Bourbon Chicken. Overall, they taste decent if you're craving some Chinese-American food. My favorite would be the Bourbon Chicken. * Price vs Worth: Their prices are around $6 - $8. There are definitely better places to eat nearby for the same price. The only times I come here is when I'm studying next door at Hillman Library. Will I come here again? - The service is actually really fast and the cashiers are always very nice. I will probably come here again just because of the convenience. read more
Asia Tea House was pretty good because of the amazing set of atmosphere. I had a mango bubble tea and it was dull with flavor in comparison to the pineapple bubble Tea. I would probably come back to try their Asian Food (which looks amazing). But for now I will stick with a 3 of 5... read more
Freshman year, I tried someone's bubble tea from here and swore I was never going to eat at this place (their tapioca pearls were atrocious), however.. I've seen maaaany people get food from here and a part of me always thought.. have I been missing out? Me and a friend walk past it several times a week, and this time, their daily special caught our eyes. 1 entree 2 sides for $7? Or 2 entrees 1 side for $8? If you're craving some American-Chinese food that's: fast, under $10, and weather's nice, I won't judge. VEGGIE TOFU + ORANGE CHICKEN + LO MEIN ($8): Lowkey good and they give a lot. You can say it's not real Chinese food and I'll agree with you on that. But you can't say that it's still not tasty. I do have to say that I wished the lo mein had more vegetables, as it was literally all noodles and was actually quite bland. Veggie tofu I thought lacked flavor too, but the zucchini and carrots were yummy and nicely cooked. Orange chicken is my guilty pleasure and in my meal I actually saw a cooked orange peel that I thought was funny. Well I know that they use actually oranges now.. SERVICE: Quite fast! Well. Me and the friend came here around 11 after class when they literally just opened for the day so I'd hope that they wouldn't be slow LOL. They also offer condiments like soy sauce and duck sauce. It's not laying out but I specifically asked for hot oil and they gave it to me. Yum yum yummmmm. Asia Tea House, cheap, very 'American-Chinese', just "meh" for me. If you're looking for authentic and not as cheap, try Hunan Bar or Sichuan Gourmet. read more

I had bourbon chicken and general tsao chicken with lo mein noodles as a delivery. The order came wth sauce dripping out of the containers into the bag. Honestly, the bourbon chicken is tasteless and is very very dry, it tastes exactly like the 7$ rotisserie chicken of Giant Eagle. The general tsao chicken is better but is also very hard to eat because its too overcooked so you end up chewing and mashing endlessly. Very disappointed. read more

Reasons to eat here: 1. Good food and perf ft portions. 2. The mango mango berry smoothie (you can add tapioca pearls for $0.50) is delicious. It's sweet without the overkill, and the consistency is always perfect; never watery or chunky. 3. Fast friendly service 4. The prices are very agreeable Basically if you enjoy being satisfied you'll enjoy dining here. read more
For a reasonable priced meal, this place is great! I ordered an avocado bubble tea and although I felt that the shake was a little more watery to my liking, it was OK. The bubbles were chewy and fresh. I also ordered tofu with vegetables lunch special - the taste was mediocre. I was a little disappointed that the actual meal was not that big. It appears that they focus on more rice than the actual meal. The sushi was made to order and you can never go wrong with an avocado roll or cucumber roll. This place is located next to the carousel and had outdoor seating for your enjoyment. read more

I was here on a nice sunny day and had the bourbon chicken with green beans and fried rice. The chicken and rice were both decent, but the beans were a little on the bland side, which I guess is fine for a side dish. Though the food from this place is pretty average, the large portions combined with the outdoor atmosphere makes for a pretty good experience. Schenley Plaza is always a nice place to be at on a good day because of the available seating and the nice breeze that seems to run through the area. Location is everything for this place, I don't think I would've ventured here if it was a restaurant say on Craig, but the nice roadside feel made me wanna check it out. read more

Went here for dinner, got the Tofu in Curry sauce, vegetable spring roll, and fried rice. The curry sauce was not as spicy as I would have liked, but was fine after I added Sriracha. The fried rice was nice, nothing extraordinary, but the vegetable spring rolls are delicious. You get a large amount of food for an amazing price, excellent for college students. The food itself is average nothing special, but a great value for the price. In terms of spice I had to add Sriracha to everything to add some spicy flavor to the food. Overall great place and you definitely get your money's worth. read more

I met a friend in Schenley Plaza since she has been away in New York the last couple of weeks. Even though Bobby was at home making dinner and I'm dieting, I still was hungry and needed food. I ordered the teriyaki chicken from Asia Tea House. The counter guy was nice and my food took long enough to know that it was fresh. It definitely was not the worst chinese that I have had. read more

This place has pretty quick service (order at one window and pick up at the next window). The food is definitely not very authentic, but in my opinion it's pretty good Americanized Chinese food. The fried rice was nicely flavored, the steamed vegetables were not too raw or overcooked, and the garlic sauce chicken was tender. The size of the meal was a good deal for the price you pay. There's no indoor seating, but there's plenty of outdoor seats. Also, on the warmer days it's very nice to bring a blanket and eat on the lawn. read more
