HOT NIGHT ROLL, ALBACORE DELIGHT, SPICY TUNA HAND ROLL
Melissa L.

Fujiya was a random pick for me, as I was in the area and craving sushi, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! Great ambiance with fun lighting that makes it a nice and cozy spot for date night. The sushi was fresh and delicious and, overall, I had no complaints. It wasn't particularly busy but there were times where we were waiting a bit for refills, sauces, and the check, which wasn't too much of an issue as we were in no rush, but good to note if you have plans after. Regular downtown Burbank parking in the nearby parking garages or on the street.

Forbidden Roll

Yet another great gamble that a good foodie friend chose since I had already been to other nearby places that we narrowed down for dining options before a movie at the AMC Burbank 16 (just a few minutes of walking away). Cool & chill, but not completely "lazy bum" vibes. Like, don't come in wearing your pajamas. You could, but why would you do that? I appreciate the darker ambience lit up by the rather groovy neon + purple & dark blue lights. A great, chill date spot, or a relaxed restaurant for sushi aficionados. The fish is incredibly fresh. I especially like that they have a number of selections that I have never seen at other similar style upper-class sushi restaurants. An unexpected pleasant bonus is that a beer is included for only $1 when you order a bottle of Soju. Do yourself a favor: make sure to get rolls that include a variety of fish. Don't get similar rolls with the same protein. Snow Crab Cut Roll - 9.0 / 10 Baked real snow crab = inside Wrapped with soybean paper, house special bake sauce. You have to give major props when a sushi restaurant includes a roll with *real* snow crab legs. None of that fake crab stick / surimi. I wish more places could include real snow crab. The soybean paper is always a nice alternative to the more traditional seaweed wrapper. Forbidden Roll - 8.9 / 10 Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, cucumber = Inside Topped with fresh salmon, crunch flakes, crab meat, eel sauce, & spicy mayo. If you were only going to get 1 sushi roll, it should be this one. It has the most variety of proteins in 1, single roll. It's not chaotic where the flavors & textures don't make sense. It works & I would gladly get this roll again. Salmon Spicy Scallop - 7.5 / 10 Spicy Scallop = inside Topped with fresh salmon. If you like scallops & salmon, this is a solid choice. Fresh Heaven - 5.7 / 10 3 Assorted fresh fish, crab meat, gobo, radish, + avocado = inside. Wrapped w/ cucumber, oriental goma sauce. The most aesthetically beautiful dish that we ordered, especially with the cucumber garnish + lovely flower. It's nice to know that cucumber can be used to wrap sushi. But it throws off the texture. Maybe it I was on a stricter diet, I may opt for a cucumber-wrapped roll. The fish was incredibly fish. Huge shout-out to Sydney P. + Charles for their warm + personable hospitality. I would happily come back because of Fujiya's unique sushi rolls, but the staff's personality is such a winner. They're truly welcoming & take great pride + pleasure in what they do. I don't blame them. Fujiya is a cool, hip, & swanky (in the best possible way) Izakaya, but it's also not pretentious. The staff here want you to have a lovely dining experience with some innovative takes on some classic sushi rolls.

I'm giving this place a 4/5 because the keto rolls were so good!!! I ordered the orange blossom and miso soup and it was very delicious! It's rare when Japanese restaurants have keto roll options. It was very fresh and good! The miso soup was very good and not too salty either!! They don't have brown rice so just FYI! The service was not that great !! Our server Dodge was very nice but did take a while to come back to table and forgot our ice. However, our order was correct and the hostess was very nice. The ambiance was really nice and very cute inside I did love the decor!! Cute colors and bright! In downtown Burbank, but parking garage available and street parking. I will try again though despite the not so great customer service ! -Marshay D.

My girlfriend and I come here often and this is our go to sushi place. The food is fresh and tasty. Price is very reasonable. Great service. The staff is always attentive and friendly. 10 out of 10 you can't go wrong here!!!

While in the area we decide we were hungry and tried this resturant. Service by Dodge was not good. He was not attentive and was very slow returning to our table. I ordered a bento box and it's was pretty good. They have a lot of keto heathy sushi options which is a plus. The place is field with beautiful pink flower decor . It's modern and has a nice good amount of seating.

YAKI UDON - BEEF

I stumbled into Fujiya and was pleasantly surprised that they were pretty busy at dinnertime. I ended up sitting down and giving them a shot - I am glad I did. The creamy salmon nigiri was absolutely delicious - I highly recommend giving that a shot if you don't mind raw fish with a little sauce and sear. All in all, I would order this again. The chicken teriyaki appetizer was decent. It helped me hit the protein quota for the day, but I wasn't blown away by the sauce or quality. The yaki udon with beef was quite good. A good portion for two to share, but the sauce was a bit heavy and overwhelming. The edamame was good. Typical steamed edamame, no complaints. Service was polite and attentive. Dishes came out quickly enough, The interior is colorful and appealing. Booths are comfortable. Street parking is available outside. Not sure that I will be back here anytime soon, but I'd suggest it to anyone who wants recommendations for a Japanese place with saucey rolls, a variety of dishes, and some familiarity with sashimi and sushi.

8 PCS SUSHI COMBINATION was absolutely delicious and a great price
Alex B.

Really good sushi, really good price, and really cool environment. I have been twice and the waiters are always nice. Get the combo set. Comes with nigiri, soup, salad, and a delicious specialty roll. The rice here is very subtle and sweet while the fish is fatty and delicious. The entire restaurant is covered with gigantic, beautiful, fake trees. I will repeat.

Came here for lunch and it was not busy at all. I ordered their chicken teriyaki lunch bento meal. Our food took about 15 mins to come out. Food was just average. Neither great nor terrible.Rice and chicken were lukewarm vs. piping hot.

I go here with my family once a week. The sushi is great and the atmosphere is fun. The servers are the best! Violet, Dodge, and Sydney are wonderful. The sushi combos are the best meal.

Making a reservation was very easy, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The restaurant is a bit dimly lit, but it really adds to the cozy and upscale atmosphere. One thing I immediately noticed was how clean all of the grills were. We chose the AYCE option (around $55 per person), and the pricing for kids was very reasonable. Our 5-year-old was charged a reduced rate, while our 3-year-old ate free, which was a nice bonus for families. The selection of meats was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from. They do have a 90-minute dining limit and a surcharge for excessive leftovers, but that wasn't an issue for us because everything was delicious. The appetizer selection was surprisingly large. We enjoyed the beef fried rice, noodles, a sushi roll, crispy tofu, chicken karaage, and shiitake mushrooms. The crispy tofu turned out to be spicier than we expected, so just keep that in mind if ordering for kids. However, spice lovers will probably enjoy it! The chicken karaage was a huge hit with the kids, especially with the spicy mayo on the side. The shiitake mushrooms were also incredibly flavorful and well-seasoned. We also ordered crispy rice spicy tuna, we loved it too! What really stood out was the service. Every server we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Instead of simply dropping off food and walking away, they took time to check in, ask how we were doing, and connect with us. That personal touch made the experience feel special. We only ordered water since we had already had plenty of drinks earlier in the day, but they offer a variety of beverages as well. For dessert, we tried the mochi ice cream special--two for $5--which was a fantastic deal. In San Diego, it's common to pay around $5 for just one mochi ice cream, so we were pleasantly surprised. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and are so happy we chose Oku-Niku for my birthday celebration. Great food, excellent service, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

I have had this place bookmarked for years because I am a bigger fan of Japanese BBQ than Korean…read moreBBQ. I know, scandalous, right? The place was also always rather expensive. However, it seems prices are not so high anymore, so we went. Sadly, the food disappointed for the most part. One problem is the parking situation. It is nearly impossible to find a spot anywhere near the restaurant, and the fact there are numerous other dining spots on the block only makes things even harder. When we got there we had a friendly attentive server. However, he switched shifts with another server moments after we ordered. That led to many problems. The waitress who took over was almost never in the dining room. Dishes we ordered were sent to a different table. A Shirley Temple drink was ordered and it took nearly 30 minutes to be made. This is ginger ale and grenadine. Except, it wasn't even ginger ale, because they don't have ginger ale. It was Sprite! Oy! As far as the food, one big problem were the awful dipping sauces. I don't think I've had a problem with the dipping sauce at many if any other Asian bbqs in the past. However, the missus hated the soy or ponzu based sauce and wouldn't eat it. I used it, but it was not good. The meats were totally decent quality. The problem is their marinade isn't a soy based yakinaku type sauce like most Japanese BBQs. It was Japanese barbecue sauce and it tasted like barbecue sauce. Not a great flavor. The prime beef fried rice, gyoza, garlic noodles were the better dishes, though none particularly impressed. The cucumbers were soaked in ponzu sauce rather than pickled like sunomono or in a spicy sauce like cucumber kimchi. It was unmemorable. The chicken karaage was edible but unexciting. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was good, but they went soggy very quickly, which made any except the first one or two eaten not very enjoyable. The crispy garlic jalapeno chicken wings were god awful and inedible as far as I'm concerned. I'm sad the place wasn't better. I wanted a place to go that hopefully was somewhat cheaper than Manpuku - the best Japanese BBQ in LA. However, I wouldn't return for any of this food, and I can't recommend it to anyone. Avoid or try at your own risk.
