They did seem to do quite a bit of takeout. It's located in a little strip mall right off route 8 in Torrington so it's super easy to access! The food was so good! We split crab rangoons and scallion pancakes and they were so fresh and didn't have that greasy/oily after taste that a lot of places have. Our waitress was so kind and explained one of the dishes to me and actually showed me how to use chopsticks as I wasn't quite grasping it from reading the instructions on the wrapper. They also were super nice chopsticks and not the cheap wooden ones that sometimes splinter! For our entrees my boyfriend had three different sushi rolls, the Godzilla the, the mermaid and the volcano and said they were all really good! They also were huge so we ended up taking half of it home. I had the Chicken Yaki Udon which is basically stir fried udon noodles with chicken and veggies in a sweet soy type sauce. Our waitress asked if we wanted ice cream at the end and it was the perfect way to end the meal! Everyone was so kind and the food was so good that we will definitely be back!!

Was skeptical on semi-off-the-beaten path location and look of the adjoining businesses in the strip mall - but now love the place more due to it. Don't let the outside fool you. Will absolutely be back.

I liked the look of Hibachi Express so I decided to do a full order this time and see what's up. I can honestly say, best hibachi style food I have had EVER!! I started with the Wonton Soup. The broth is delicate and savory. I wish there was a bit more filling in the wontons but still a very strong solid start. If this was the entry, I can't wait for the spicy miso. The golden fingers are finally ones I enjoy. The outside was not too crispy but I was getting take out so that is expected. I'm sure they were crispy coming out of the oil. Beautiful cooked tender chicken and a perfect batter to meat ration. Next I had the Bento BBQ chicken. Wow!! Amazing flavor. It is an Asian lite BBQ taste and not sticky sweet. Finally, a place that gets the texture right. The chicken is very tender and flavorful and actually has a mouth feel like chicken. Some places mistake tender for mush, not here. My mom ordered the house chow mein fun. The vermicelli was soft, flavorful and perfectly cooked. Plenty of meat inside as well. The chef nailed the balance between cooked noodles but not wet noodles. Amazing dish!! She also ordered a side of hibachi chicken. Again, perfect flavor, tender and great portion. We also grabbed an Atlanta roll. I'm not a cream cheese fan in sushi but this worked. I will gladly try their other offerings next time. The location is very clean and mom and son offer great service. You can order on-line if that is your preference. I will be back and Hibachi Express is my new go-to. I'm very glad I found this restaurant. I would gladly advise even the pickiest person to eat here.

We got the cheese wontons to start (regular crab ragoons but very tasty). We also tried the hibachi beef and broccoli and hibachi general tsao. The onion soup that came with those was a tasty broth. (Definitely will get extra of that next time). For the price it felt like a good amount of food, I pared with the good flavors, we will be back!

It was delicious but a little bit too spicy for me. My husband had the teriyaki steak served with white rice and veggies. The flavor was great, but the steak wasn't quite tender enough. Our other friend ordered the miso or chicken broth bowl (not sure which), and he liked it a lot. Oh, I almost forgot, for appetizers, we ordered the pork bao buns and they were wonderful. "You're not a princess I'm not prince charming Speak with…read moreyour tongue, use body language And pull your skin like wrapping paper round my heart" (Graham Parker) The last time I stepped into this building was a few years ago when it was occupied by the Lemongrass Asian Grill. Today was my birthday, so my dinner spot of choice meant a return here to experience a meal at the newish Charming Thai Restaurant. And we left a few hours later agreeing that this place is fantastic. Soon after we were seated, we met Jessica, who was our principal server. She was an absolute delight with a fantastic personality. She started off with some complimentary noodles and sweet duck sauce. The menu is extensive, with most of the traditional Thai favorites, so think Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle, Fried Rices, Lo Meins, and Pad See-Ew. Other groupings include Chef Specials, Classic Entrees, Curries, and a full slate of appetizers, salads, soups, Pho, and Ramens. When you go through their menu, the various combinations of entrée and protein choices are in the 200 range. So pretty much anyone can eat their favorite Asian food here. We started off with a cup of Wonton Soup (with 6 big wontons) and a cup of Tom Kha Soup with two big shrimp at $5.99 each. The Tom Kha had a mild coconut taste, but I don't mean that in a negative way. I order this a lot, and some places really load up on the coconut flavor so much that the soup resembles a strong thick ice cream topping. Their soup was thinner than some but had enough flavor that it was fantastic. Oh, and those two plump shrimps in my bowl were perfect. We split an $8 order of six pork pot stickers, and they were cooked beautifully without a hint of grease and stuffed with a nice ground pork filling. For our main meal we split a $15.99 order of Chicken Pad Thai. We ordered it mild, but since I like spice, I asked for some extra zip on the side and Jessica brought out a cute little twin dish of Sriracha sauce and Sichuan pepper powder to ramp up the firepower. We loved the Pad Thai, it had plenty of chicken, the noodles were well cooked, and most of all it was sauced perfectly. Not too dry, not too wet, but just perfect. As we were paying our bill, the fact that it was my birthday came up, and Jessica made us promise not to leave yet because she wanted to give me something. That turned out to be a complimentary dish of sweet coconut rice with sliced mango. The portions were so generous that some of the Tom Kha and Pad Thai are now in our refrigerator for tomorrow. Thank you, Jessica, and JJ who tag-teamed us tonight, and here's a special shout-out to Lucy who made the magic happen in the kitchen. The food, the service, the value, and the atmosphere were all exceptional. If you like Thai food as much as we do, head on out to Route 4 and treat yourself to a charming dinner experience at Charming Thai.

The bad: The tempura roll was a little drenched in sauce for my liking. I asked for no wasabi for my California roll, and well, there was wasabi hidden under the ginger. The surprise of the evening was the yellowfin jalapeno roll. It was delicious! It had just the right amount of heat for jalapeños. The chicken katsu was just alright. Nothing special. Will probably try this place again, for dine-in. We'll see.

She is very passionate about the menu and is very attentive to everyone. Thankfully, as our food was served she was there to explain that the best way to experience the chef's creation is to eat it as it presented (without soy sauce) first. She went on to explain that each dish is created with specific textures and flavors in mind to create an intentional balanced bite. She is absolutely correct and I am so glad we listened. In fact, after trying the "second" bite with soy sauce, we recognized that it was much better without it. The soy sauce is homemade and delicious but the sushi is so perfectly executed, it really does not need anything at all to shine. This is not your average sushi joint. The food and service will blow you away. Get the Princess Peach Roll if it's available. The Tiger Roll and the Flame Touch were also fantastic. First visit to the O Joe's North location - understanding I/we love the original. It exceeded every possible expectation. Food is terrific - has the same standard as Watertown, but our wings were cooked even better. Fresh, hot, crispy, juicy. Definitely the best Ordinary Joe's wings we've had (and we have a lot of them, often). The food options are clearly rooted in the original concept. However, there are some more/different options here. Everything looked and smelled fantastic. I look forward to investigating further. Our server, Vanessa, earned 25 stars on her own. She was attentive, personable, yet worked quickly and accurately - manning a full bar and dining room simultaneously - while making us feel like we were the only ones in the joint. Manager/(Owner?) Paul was terrific as well. Stepped in to ensure all tables had what they needed, were clean, and everyone happy. It was truly noticeable that customer service is a priority for the team. Building is new/redone/beautiful. Similar, iconic O Joe's feel and decorating - yes, the gridiron is painted on the ceiling. Just a great space. Great vibe. Eat-off-the-floor clean.
