I will admit that I had completely looked over this spot for way too long. Did you know fuji has been here since the 90s?! I really love sushi but recently been bored or turned off by the places I frequent. I had been meaning to go to Fuji for months and finally went in for dinner last week. The sushi here is creative and exceptional quality! The service was even better! Both the sushi chef and our waiter have been working there forever which Id say is a really good indicator that this is a great spot. We really enjoyed chatting them both up and devoured everything we ordered. We decided this is gonna be our new go-to spot and Im already looking forward to going back and trying some new things. I really love this place, highly recommend.... Be advised, they close at 8 weekdays and 830 weekends... I wish they were open later but otherwise this place is read more

The service here is terrible. Came in and waited 10 minutes without water. When we said we were ready to order, the waiter stated there are "three people in front of you," despite them still looking at the menu. read more

Fuji Sushi is a little gold mine tucked away in the heart of Petaluma. Their entrées are fresh and flavorful. Cooking is an art, and the chef puts his heart into it. They even go the extra mile and make their own homemade salad dressing, which is absolutely perfect. The ambience is warm and in inviting. The entire staff are well-versed at welcoming their customers. Definitely, and without a doubt, one of the very few top-notch restaurants in Petaluma. if I could give Fuji Sushi 10 stars, I would read more

I don't come here for sushi as I'm not a sushi person, in fact there the only seafood I like is salmon, scallops and the occasional "filet o'fish". But a friend wanted to go to dinner here and said there was plenty of food for a non-seafood person and they were right! In fact, I've come here many times since that first initial visit as well as used Door Dash to have it delivered and the food has always been fresh and delicious, even with using a delivery service. The customer service is great as well! There is plenty of tables and chairs but it's not too cramped that you feel like the tables are too close. And there is also counter space if you want to watch them make sushi. They hae quite a large menu so there is variety from sushi to vegetable tempura to Udon with most anything you want in it to various salads, meats, bento boxes, an so much more. Finding something non-fishy/non-seafood is super easy for me. If your looking for sushi and non-seafood type items I highly recommend this place for the food, the customer service and the atmosphere! read more

Food not as good as Im used to. It came highly recommended so we were trying it out for the first time we were disappointed in the choices. We might try it another time to be sure. read more

Another lovely lunch here! Low-key but beautiful decor, easy parking, and the same delicious food like always. Service was friendly and no pressure. We had a light lunch, I had the Fuji roll and my mom had the spicy tuna roll plus I had a miso soup. read more

This place was mediocre, not the best sushi I've had but also not the worst. Service was great. Waitress was attentive And food came out fairly quickly. The rolls were okay, nothing too special about them. The edamame was too salty. read more

Been a long time since I've visited this cute place right near home. It's very nice inside, we loved the decor and good service when we lunched today. We really enjoy the tropical fish tv display. Solid seating. They have plenty of vegetarian options! Right out there on the menu no need to haggle something. Bento boxes, sushi rolls. Plenty. The lunch menu is very full of nice offerings. The portion sizes aren't extra abundant, I'm a big fan of being served a normal amount so I like that. Lunch just isn't a particular deal. So we'll go to dinner here. It seems ptown agrees because it was empty. I had two rolls and miso soup. They did seem nicely priced and just the right amount. I enjoyed the well filled shiitake roll and the fotomaki roll $6 & & 6.95. They were nice. WATCH OUT the wasabi is HOT here. It was good. Hubby had a bento box and normally he never eats or takes the rice portion but his box was literally only the teriyaki salmon and half an Alaskan roll. The orange slice was a waste as fruit is bad to combine with protein like this. For $14 seemed a bit stingy, we missed the daikon or edamame we're used to seeing in a bento box. It does come with soup and salad so was probably reasonably priced. It seems we'd prefer a vegetable side instead of rice hubby had to eat to fill up. I'm not so sure the prices are lunch deal minded. $30 for two for lunch with no beverages seems a bit steep. There's cheaper more abundant sushi lunches to be had but not in such a lovely setting. read more

So I went last night to grab diner with my daughter and my wife and sister said the food was great why not try it out. We must of it it on a busy night with only one server in the whole place So seemed to take a while for the soup and the water refills were slow, my daughter said she felt bad for the server because she was very busy. It would of been nice if they had a runner that was able to help pour water. Two weeks earlier my wife said such great things about this place so I will be back. Rolls were great and the server was pleasant. They do not take Discover card which was odd. read more

Best Chicken Katsu in the county. Bar None ! The texture of the panko coating is out of this world. It has a crunchy crumble with every bite. Your eyes will literally open wide the first bite you take. And the chicken itself is tender, juicy, and not a hint of grease. This Chicken Katsu transcended the boundaries of an ethnic dish , rather it will please chicken lovers of all persuasions . Priced right too ! read more

Amazing fresh sushi! The fish was definitely the star of the show. The udon noodles were good too and will hit the spot when the craving for soup hits, but the sushi will keep us coming back. The service was very efficient and friendly. Thank you for a delicious dinner. read more

Got the Karla Roll , since I'm really into thin lemon slices on salmon sushi. Did not disappoint. The wasabi is a lot less spicy than I'm used to so, ended up having to use a lot The salad was good and my green tea came in the cutest cup decorated with sushi. When I got there, servers & chef were very busy although there were only 2 or 3 tables to serve so it took a while for them to clear the eaten plates and trash and next to me. Server was ultra friendly after it died down though and refilled my tea like 3 times lol read more

My family goes here once a week - often I get pick up after work and take it home. It's probably the best Sushi in Petaluma. The fish is so fresh, they use real crab, the salmon is like butter. The Poki Salads are over generous with Tuna. That would be our favorite order and again they are BIG Poki Salads with a good and spicy seaweed salad. The restaurant has a lot of regulars. They've been around awhile. The place is very very clean. The service is pretty quick. I eat a lot of sushi all over the North Bay, as I travel for business. This is the best sushi place, I've been too in while. You might not think it, as it's in the shopping mall of a KMart and a Burger King, but don't let the location fool you - this place is solid. Big Thumbs Up! read more

Heard about this place from my lyft driver. Came on a Tuesday night and it was not very busy. Our server was awesome, really made my daughter feel special. He recommended the sponny and the golden gate roll. Loved the golden gate and sponny was okay (maybe next time will get the one w/o cream cheese). The portions were pretty big. The sushi tastes pretty fresh. I think a good local spot for tasty sushi. Nothing fancy, but family friendly so that is great. We will be back for sure. read more

Don't be fooled by the location, this place is A+ in service, cleanliness and smiles. I'll be honest-sushi is good but not the best I have ever had. However, everything else is so good that I feel it balances out, The folks that run this spot are so super nice, very accommodating and welcoming and it is a joy to dine here. People who care and that care shows. Their ahi tartar appetizer is fabulous!!!! Probably my favorite thing on the menu. If you want good food, excellent service and something that won't break the bank-check it out here. read more

After walking in and seating ourselves, we found no waitstaff in view and helped ourselves to a pair of menus. We waited at least 10 minutes before the lone waitress appeared from the back and started helping the tables that were seated before we arrived. The lone sushi chef was cranking out orders as quickly as he could, but I can't imagine what this place is like when it's packed. We enjoyed the potstickers and the miso soup while we waited for our sushi. The sushi was fine, nothing special, but certainly overpriced for the quality. It looked great on the plate, but at the end of the day, it comes down to taste. There was nothing spectacular about this restaurant and I would never recommend it, but the food wasn't "bad" it just "OK." read more

Went here last night after helping my cousin at the office. Our waitress, I forgot her name but my cousin told me that she's the owners daughter, was suuuuper sweet. The ambiance was fab, you knew right away the theme. They had football playing which is a plus for me ;) This place was busy for a Sunday night I thought. The salad had sliced apples in it which I thought was interesting & actually complimented the homemade salad dressing. I ordered the Chicken Udon. Holy CRAPOLA! She said that they call it a "kiddie pool" & it sure was. It could seriously feed 3 people. It was an Udon kind of day so it hit the spot. There wasn't much flavor to it but I still liked it. Give it a try :) read more

This is a great lunch deal! The portions are quite generous, and they have a ton of options for bento boxes, rice places, and sushi. I've had lots of mediocre, scrawny bento boxes in my time. This one was fresh and flavorful, filled with delicious hunks of tempura-fried veggies, some of the best teriyaki sauce I've ever had, and yummy nigiri. The only mild downer is the atmosphere. It's fine, but I'd be more excited to go back if it had a better vibe. read more

Find another sushi restaurant. I ordered take-out and should have checked everything. The veggie gyoza's were burned on the bottom and should have never been served. The sushi rolls were very big and fell apart. They also lacked flavor and were not "melt in your mouth" fresh. The only thing that was good were the salad and miso soup. I was really hoping to find a new favorite place, especially one that had a veggie gyoza option, but sadly, I won't be back. I'll stick with Oyama. read more

Always delicious. Favorite sushi spot in town. Wish they had the game instead of aquarium television at times, and service isn't always super fast, but it's what you'd expect from a small, quiet place. Overall it's quite the gem. read more

Family owned, excellent service every time. Best sunomono, wonderfully comforting beef teriyaki. It's like home.

Fuji has long been our favorite Japanese restaurant and during this pandemic, they are our go-to place when we tire of cooking. Last night we got a beautiful tonkatsu dinner combination (comes with salad, rice and miso soup) and 9 pieces of nigiri. That sushi was amazing! We also got an order of potstickers and a carburetor roll which is like a California roll on steroids. Everything was lip-smacking delicious! We are so happy they are offering take-out and they have every precaution in place. They will deliver to your car as dine-in is not yet allowed. Let's support our local treasures like this family-owned place and hope reopening happens soon. We miss you, Fuji! read more

Best sushi we've eaten in Sonoma County. We live in Sonoma, but it's worth the drive. Sushi pieces are ample and fresh, and the rolls are big and excellent. If you like shrimp, I recommend the Rick Rick roll. And you don't need to be a Pink Floyd fan to enjoy the Dark Side of the Moon roll. read more

Tonight was an amazing night and it could not have happened at a better place! We had the Tahoe roll and the Golden Gate roll. Neither of us knew this restaurant was even there, we ended up there by chance and we are so glad we did. We sat at the sushi bar and got to watch the food being made and she got to see the basketball game on the tv behind the bar. This is definitely the place to take your girl on date night. Ordered takeout last night. The sushi was just OK. The pieces of each roll were huge! Too much rice on each roll and the pieces all stuck together and easily fell apart. Something was also off about the color of the tuna. It was bright pink. Tuna should not be this color so that threw me off a bit. The chicken teriyaki was also over cooked and very dry. I would possibly try again in the future but won't be returning any time soon. read more

Great food, very fresh fish and the prices are great. I have never had anything less than prompt and pleasant service. Sushi bar seating is your best bet. Food was reasonable and service was ok but as far as somewhere with atmosphere this is not the place to go. There are an abundance of better Japanese restaurants in the area. I think my recommendation to the owners is to work on the atmosphere and go for fresher more flavourful food. read more

Easily the best sushi in Petaluma! We stopped here for lunch this afternoon and were very impressed with everything. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. They had a very large menu with a lot of different combinations and lunch specials. I ordered the sushi lunch combo with a spicy tuna roll and my husband had the sushi maki combo. The soup and salad were delicious and the sushi was of a VERY high quality and very fresh. The wasabi was also great. We will definitely be returning! read more

I love this place. Great people. Delicious, high quality sushi, creative rolls and sushi-like dishes. I've only ever really ordered "Americanized" things (I just live sauces, what can I say!), but would imagine their standard sashimi dishes are legit- the fish is great and the owner/chef really seems to take pride in what's delivered. read more

Visited for convenience while in the area on June 28, 2010. Fairly basic decor but clean and service prompt and friendly. Sunamono was a bit lame for the price but the spicy scallop hand roll was scallop all the way and worth the price. Best rolls in town! Only downside, they need to be tighter, tend to break apart. Love the dressing on their salads! Prices are fair! Wish they had more to offer for drinks that are non-alcoholic.I don't drink,,, please add Reg tea, coffee, other than that, this place is wonderful! Plenty of parking, try that in downtown Petaluma, not! Gohan is waaaaay to expensive! And the waitresses stand around to much, do they have a clue what to do? read more

Fuji. Well I don't think I could properly express the excellence Fuji has to offer. You will probably change your view on every other sushi spot. Even your most favorite. I really love this place. The best miso soup one could ask for. Thanks fuji! read more
