I went in for a tummy tuck revision and breast reconstruction after an infection from prior surgery…read moredisfigured my breast. He did an ok job on my breasts, though his heavy-handed and uneven sutures have left garish scars, and he failed to do the procedure as we had discussed. My biggest concern is the botch job he did of the tummy tuck scar revision. He destroyed my abdomen aesthetically and functionally, and when I spoke to him about it he assured me it would settle and improve. Years later, the problems and appearance have worsened. Instead of correcting the scar, he instead removed most of my belly below the scar and pulled my pubis up about three inches so that it now resides where my belly should be. In order to do this he had to stretch my perineum which has caused other embarrassing issues that have made my day to day life and exercising uncomfortable. I called for my complete records but after five or six requests, failed to provide everything and he did not want to send before photos, and for good reason. When I requested an appointment to discuss ongoing issues, which did not settle with time, he refused to see me because I "disparaged his work." More likely he doesn't want his new staff to see the mess he made of my once lovely abdomen that 1) no doctor should have touched 2) he made worse and did not improve as he promised. He also did a hack job on one of my eyelids which pops open and makes me look monstrous if I am not constantly aware of my facial expressions. I think Dr. Bartlett has a great bedside manner, but if you criticize him he gets nasty and retaliatory. I also question his fine motor skills, because some of his stitches look like a third-grader did them and the scarring does not go away. I short, I now have pubic hairs and what was once between my legs, where my belly should be. I think Dr. Bartlett hates women. Way to go, Dr. Bartlett. He should admit and address his error, and he should pay for a flap to relieve the unbearable tightness.

When I asked when I could have another appointment they told me 4 weeks from now, which I considered outrageous. When I let them know how I NEED this procedure done, then they gave me an appointment for the week after. Dr. Hartshorn, is amazing otherwise, he takes the time to listen, and give you options. They have snacks, coffee, and the office is super clean. The staff is super friendly. I just feel like, as someone who can barely put any weight on her foot, and then pain is so bad that I can't sleep, that this is not considered urgent and therefore it gets canceled.

All I can say Boston, is that YOU have gained a rock star, and we out here in California are left…read morewith the tour bus drivers.... 2 years ago I was involved in a bicycle accident and tore the rotator cuff in my left shoulder. The pain was excruciating, and continued to get worse over time. One of my colleagues who was seriously injured in a surfing incident a year earlier, that basically destroyed his shoulder (broken bones etc) had been treated by Dr. Tim Hartshorn, and recovered completely recommended that I go see him. I did, and I IMMEDIATELY knew I was in the right place, with the right doctor. Ultimately, I required surgery to repair my shoulder, but prior to actually scheduling surgery, I needed to finish out the work season on light duty. Dr. Hartshorn gave me direct steroid injections to the shoulder joint over the course of the next few months to get me through the rest of that season. At the end of the season, I went in for surgery in the morning, and was back home that afternoon. Almost immediately, Dr. Hartshorn had me on a physical therapy routine that got me moving my newly repaired shoulder in short order. Over the course of the next several weeks, the pain subsided, my range of motion returned as I continued physical therapy, and in less than 3 months, I was back at work with no restrictions. What you need to understand is that prior to seeing Dr. Hartshorn, I could not even hold a coffee cup in my left hand without serious pain. The act of threading a belt through my pant loops required assistance from my wife. Sleeping was nearly impossible and I was a wreck due to lack of sleep. Surgery takes time to fully heal from, and I knew that going in. It also takes commitment by you, to do the exercises, and range of motion stretches prescribed by your physical therapist or doctor. If you don't do that, you will not recover completely. I knew that going in as well. Dr. Hartshorn made sure I knew that this was not going to be easy, or fun, but it (the PT and stretchers) was absolutely necessary for fast recovery and the best possible outcome. Without question or reservation of any kind, I can absolutely say that if you are reading this because you have injured your shoulder, and are at the point where a solution other than you just "roughing it out" is necessary, and you have found Dr. Tim Hartshorn, Your are one fortunate individual. It is my belief that you will NOT find a better physician, surgeon or human being than Dr. Tim Hartshorn. Congratulations, and rest easy. You are in the right place. For those wondering why, 2+ years later I might be here writing a review for Dr. Hartshorn, it is really simple. I have since injured my other shoulder, and have been in the care of a doctor who was prescribed by workers comp out here in California. I am miserable, I require surgery and I decided to reach out to Dr. Hartshorn to see if he would be willing to look at my MRI and perhaps give me a recommendation for surgeons he personally knows and would comfortably recommend out here in Cali. Well, being the rock star that he is, as I mentioned in my first paragraph, Dr. Hartshorn called me directly himself. Not his staff, or some mouth piece like I would have expected to hear from out here, but he himself. I was actually not surprised to be honest, because that is the kind of doctor Tim Hartshorn is. Like I said Boston, consider yourselves VERY fortunate to have this guy in your wheel house. It does not get any better than him. I wish you well on your treatment and recovery, but have no doubt that you will be just fine. THANK YOU Dr. Hartshorn. THANK YOU.

I had liposuction performed in May 2010, and I regret going to Dr Savage…read more He treated the inner and outer sides of my upper thighs using power assisted liposuction. He told me that only 10% of his patients require revision operations and that the majority require revision to remove additional fat. He mentioned that fat grafting, which is how one treats areas where too much fat was removed, is very difficult, but he didn't seem to think that this would be a problem. His assistant handled the scheduling well and was always friendly in my interactions with her. Both of his offices looked clean and professional. The instructions I was given when I left the hospital after surgery only pertained to managing pain and caring for the incisions. The pain was what I had expected, and within a few days I could return to work. The incisions for my inner thighs are barely visible now, and the ones for my outer thighs are visible but small. Neither of these issues were a problem. However, the bruising lasted six weeks, which was much longer than I had expected. The swelling didn't go down until August, and I noticed that the areas treated felt like there were hard pads underneath the skin. My thighs were also very unshapely. I was afraid that he had removed all the subcutaneous fat and what I was feeling was my muscle, so I made an appointment to discuss this issue with him. He said 20% of his patients have "adhesions" after surgery, where the skin sticks to the tissue underneath, giving the sensation of hard pads, but it would go away. He seemed very unconcerned. I mentioned the contour irregularities, specifically pointing to the depression at the middle of my thighs where the treated area met the untreated area. He claimed that the area he treated was higher on my thighs, which was not true and made me feel like he was covering for himself. To treat the adhesions, he suggested I massage the hard pads, which HURT! I massaged them dutifully three times a day, five minutes for each area, for three weeks, and the pain decreased. However, the hardness I felt WAS my muscles. So now I have areas on my thighs that are lumpy and dented, and some of the dents are areas where there is no subcutaneous fat at all. I've seen two other plastic surgeons for second opinions, both of whom agreed that what happened to my thighs were very poor results and that, given that the only way to fix them would involve fat grafting, which is a very difficult technique, it is likely that my thighs will always look somewhat unnatural, even if I have revision surgery. One of the surgeons told me that it would cost about three times as much to have the revision surgery done compared to the original surgery because evening out the "shelves" (at the edges of the dents where the treated region meets the untreated region) and performing fat grafting take a much longer time than the initial liposuction did. When I came back for my six-month follow up in November, he said that the dent (where there was no fat) on my left thigh was not good, but the other regions were "satisfactory". They are not at all satisfactory to me, and it makes me question his aesthetic judgments. I also resented how he insisted that he had merely done the work "that we had outlined together". I had insisted that the outcome look natural above all else, and my thighs look deformed. I have not seen anyone else at the beach or elsewhere in public with thighs that look like mine do now. I asked if he would refund my money, at least the surgeon's fee (which was $3750), but he said no. He offered to do the revision surgery free of charge, but there is no way I'm going to trust him to perform surgery on me after I was disappointed with every single place he treated last time. My thighs look much, much worse now than they ever did when they were "fat" (and now that I look back at old pictures, my thighs weren't unattractive at all!). I can see the dents even when I wear jeans, unless they are loose fitting. My friends and family say that it's not really noticeable because it's not like people ever really check out other people's legs. If you would like to see the results yourself, please go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/55908021@N04/5175807093/ (I don't have any before pictures, I'm afraid, but you can see the lumpy results). I paid almost $5000 for this damage. There was a period over the late summer and early fall when I was very depressed about my appearance, more than I ever was before the surgery (and I was not happy with my appearance before, or else I wouldn't have wanted the surgery in the first place). Now I'm working really hard so that I can save up money to have the revision done. I'm writing this review so that anyone who has made the choice to have liposuction can cross Dr Savage off of their list. I wish that I had been able to find reviews of Boston-area surgeons when I was making my choice.
