First, Andrea, Dr. Sandin's nurse practitioner is lovely & caring & thoughtful. My experience with Dr. Sandin has been abhorrent. I came to her in recovery from years of trauma and abuse, seeking an understanding and responsible primary care physician. After three years of monthly appointments with her, I am fed up. Her scheduling is so backed up that appts. run a minimum of 40 minutes behind (even in the morning), sometimes as much as 70 minutes, and then she spends about 10-15 minutes with me. She never acknowledges the delay. On top of this, there have been times that I needed to see her for antibiotics/treatment for an acute illness (strep throat, etc.) and her office told me that the first available appt. was a month and a half away! I see her for chronic pain care as well as to manage various medical conditions (a serious heart condition, hormonal problems, etc.). Only recently did I get to see my records from the 3yrs. I've been under her care and I was horrified. I saw that I have had dramatically high blood pressure (she didn't treat), thyroid insufficiencies, far worse hormone trouble than I was aware of, and the list goes on. Each month that I see her, it is almost like we have never met, and she asks the same repeat questions time and time again (including "but, really, where is your pain?"). I did extensive research to find a new responsible caring physician, and when I scheduled with him (a 6 month wait), I informed dr. Sandin of the time frame and explained my reasoning (I did not go in depth, though I have in the past, because I still had to see her for 6 more months of prescriptions). In the 4 months since, she has consistently written prescriptions wrong (more than once she has written a prescription for part of the month that cannot be filled for less than 30 days), requiring a second trip to her office, and monthly appointments are harder and harder to get. People make mistakes, and I am pretty understanding, but Dr. Sandin knows that I don't drive, have a hard time getting to her office (due to the chronic pain she treats me for), and these mistakes take a major toll on my life. My final issue is that there is no way to contact her. She has never once returned my calls. When I get a response at all, it is thru her receptionist. As I understand it, my private medical information is supposed to be between my doctor and me. The receptionists have sometimes been nice, but also have given me their opinions of what I should be doing which is a violation of privacy. It is horrible to feel judged and mistreated with no one to appeal to for help. I deserve to be treated with respect and understanding, particularly with the traumatic past I survived, but this should be true for anyone no matter what their past is. I have finally gotten enough self worth built up to stop tolerating poor treatment from those I count on for care. read more
