The Kitchen Sink ice cream was a really unique flavor. It's vanilla ice cream mixed with sprinkles, cookie crumbs, and brownie pieces, which gave it a fun mix of textures and flavors. We also got four pieces of fudge for $20. The fudge flavors we tried were Cookies and Cream, Reese's Pieces, Coffee Toffee, and Maple Nut. The Cookies and Cream fudge was good but extremely sweet, to the point where it started to hurt my teeth. The Reese's Pieces fudge was probably my favorite because of the crunchy pieces, but it was also very dense and filling. The Coffee Toffee had a strong coffee flavor, which I liked, but it had the same issue of being overly sweet. The Maple Nut had a nice maple syrup flavor but was also very heavy. Maybe I'm just not the biggest fudge person, but I found most of the flavors to be a little too dense and sugary. That being said, I would definitely come back for the ice cream. The service was great, especially since we came in right before closing. The staff was patient, friendly, and let us try different ice cream samples before deciding. I would recommend stopping by for the ice cream, but the fudge might be a bit much unless you have an insane sweet tooth. read more

I wanted to try a few flavors, but was only allowed one. I completely understand limiting flavors, yet I did not like my first sample so I felt too nervous to blindly order a different flavor. I was not a fan of the birthday cake. Service was okay, yet I had a cockaroach try to climb onto my shoe the second I stepped in. When the staff asked me if I wanted to order anything, I had currently been watching a cockroach crawl across the counter near the fudge. Would not recommend. read more

Average ice cream place on the boardwalk in Carolina Beach. I ordered a small of the Kitchen Sink, which is a homemade flavor. I thought it had a weird burnt aftertaste from the cookies and it didn't taste creamy at all. My husband ordered a create your own Hurricane which is their version of a milkshake. It was good, but nothing special. Service was average. The employees just wanted to get people in and out, so there wasn't anything that stood out service wise. I thought it was cool that they had signs outside on how to save 10%. read more

Fudge, ice cream and candy. Great combination for a shop at the beach. Fudgeboat is right on the boardwalk. My kids swear by the fudge. They say it is on par if not better than Kilwins. Ice cream was decent, above par. There's another place selling ice cream and fudge literally 10-15 feet away, but the crowds are always at Fudgeboat. read more

My husband got a sampler boat with the homemade ice cream and I got two scoops of a different kind of ice cream. Mine was decent but tasted like store bought ice cream. I got their own raspberry cream ice cream. It was delicious. They also have many different cones and waffle bowls. In addition to ice cream they have fudge and candy. Their ice cream was alright, not much to choose from and their flavors were basic. I did try their chocolate covered strawberries which were good and they had lots of fudge to choose from. We spent 3 days on Carolina Beach. Every day I watched tons of people in and out of this shop. On our last night we decided we better give it a shot. I so wish we had gone sooner. First of all the staff is outstanding!! They all greeted us and offered to answer any questions. They chatted with us about all of their products with no pressure. We got ice cream for that night and fudge to save for later. The ice cream was good. They offer their own creations as well as some standards from other makers. But let me tell you about the fudge. The amount of flavors and variety were amazing!! So many I never would have imagined. And it is honestly the very best fudge I've ever eaten. It's creamy and dense. The flavor is on point and the ingredients are high quality and delicious. I will be finding a way to get more!! What a wonderful place to visit. Yummy handmade ice cream is what calms the soul. There were three of us and we each got a single scoop waffle cone. Total $13.44 and well worth it. I did not try the fudge or the beautiful chocolate covered strawberries calling my name, but I wish I had. When we first entered is was quiet and them boom tons of people. This place stays busy. I went to the fudgeboat as the very last stop on my food and history tour that I participated in. This place definitely seems to have a loyal fan base. As my group entered, it smelled absolutely heavenly inside! It was nice to learn that this was a family operated business. The place seemed to be ran by three women. One on the cash register, one making fresh batches of fudge, and the third pressing out fresh waffle cones! My food and history tour group was greeted with free samples of almond joy fudge and cotton candy fudge! How cool is that. And the great thing about this business? The ice cream "kitchen sink" was advertised as vanilla with white chocolate chips, Reeses mini peanut butter cups and cookie pieces was basically plain vanilla. I went back in and spoke to the older lady, who I believe is an owner, and was told it's the way it's scooped. Just the luck of the draw! No offer of a different scoop. After a few more bites of plain vanilla I went back in and was accused of yelling at them (I just talk loud) and she begrudgingly put another scoop into a cup. It too was just vanilla and I threw all of it in the trash. She was EXTREMELY rude and discourteous. I would suggest not wasting $4.65 for a single scoop in this store! read more

The Fudgeboat has the fudge cure for what ails you, in approximately 41 different prescriptions! My friend and I happened upon Fudgeboat over the weekend while visiting a very hot and humid Carolina Beach. We walked throughout the Boardwalk area and were getting thirsty and needed something cold, though we weren't hungry enough to sit down for a full meal. On the corner was Fudgeboat - it wasn't the "fudge" which caught our eye so much as the "ice cream" in that heat! The refreshing air conditioned air was a welcome relief from the humid anchors on our lungs. My friend got two scoops of the peanut butter cup ice cream, and I got a scoop each of their butter pecan and the peanut butter cup. Oh. My. Word. Simply heaven. While sitting on the one little bench in the store, we counted no fewer than 41 different flavors of fudge on the boat hull "counter". Another case had fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries and other goodies. The store also had free area maps which were helpful. I tore through a bottle of cold water too, before going back out into the heat. The ladies were really nice. There's no place to sit down in here though, except the one little bench.
