Breakfast coffee to go
Tom R.

Crush and Grind crushes it from sunrise to sunset. Mornings here bring some of the best coffee on the boardwalk. Bold, flavorful, and worth the wait. We stopped in for breakfast coffee and the line was out the door, but it moved quickly, proof they've got their grind down perfectly. By afternoon and evening, the vibe shifts from coffee to craft, with beer, cider, and wine flowing in a laid-back, beachy atmosphere. Perfectly placed in the heart of the boardwalk and just steps from the sand, it's the ideal place to kick off your day or wind it down.

Cold brew

Cold brew is amazing as is. So good it doesn't need any cream or sugar. Guy working is also a big chiller

I was looking forward to trying out a local coffee spot in Carolina Beach, so stopped by Crush and Grind for a quick caffeine fix. I loved the mural outside and the reviews were great, so thought I'd be in for a decent experience. There were quite a few customers inside enjoying their drinks at about 2 PM, but there wasn't anybody at the counter serving customers or taking orders. I stood for several minutes hoping someone would come to the counter, but left...first time ever I've stood in line at a coffee place to order and nobody cared to take my order. I guess since it's slow season in Carolina Beach, they didn't feel the need to have attentive staff. It was all quite bizarre as it was several hours before closing time. Crush and Grind should close up shop after the summer if they don't want to attend to customers. I never thought I'd see the day, but after more than 450 Yelp reviews, this is my first one-star review for a coffee shop. Update - business owner responded quickly with an apology promising to do better, so respect them enough to bump up the score a star...mistakes happen.

This cafe has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Which combined with their delicious coffee, made for a great experience. I tried their Seabee latte, which was an absolute treat. The combination of marshmallow, coconut, and honey created a delightful flavor that was both sweet and comforting. It's a must-try for anyone looking for a unique coffee experience. Another fantastic aspect of this coffee shop is that they are dog-friendly, making it a perfect spot for pet owners. Plus, their location near the boardwalk adds to the convenience and charm of this place. Crush and Grind Coffee Shop is a gem at Carolina Beach, offering a warm atmosphere, creative coffee options like the Seabee latte, and a pet-friendly environment. I highly recommend it to coffee enthusiasts and dog lovers alike.

This shop was next to our hotel so we were able to stop in several times. The shop is perfect with a blend of searing, open space, outdoor seating (upstairs), small local vendor items and two coolers full of local microbrews, juices and teas. The barrista talked to us about what we like in a coffee and made suggestions. The Sea Bee was my "go to" all weekend. Silky, sweet, excellent coffee flavor. Great prices, atmosphere, customer service and drinks! Wish I was there today.

Perfect spot for a coffee shop in CB. They have beer & wine too, so it becomes a social spot at any hour! It's a bit darker in here, so a nice break from the sun when it's needed. I had an iced chai with oat milk and vanilla, plus an iced vanilla latte (with a double shot!). It was $12, so about average! Both drinks were great. Not a ton of food options, but some nice looking baked goods up front. Would recommend!

Coffee is good and great service. Drinks were cheap and they had a broad menu to pick from.

The second visit, however, came with a greeting I've never heard in my fifty‑plus years: "You've been out all day. I can't serve you because I'll be liable if you're over served." I've bartended before. I understand the responsibility. But I was never asked a single question about what I'd actually been doing. For clarity: we had lunch at Michael's Seafood before our first visit. I had one non‑alcoholic seltzer at Island Beverage, and my partner had a four‑flight sampler. After that, we went thrifting and shopping at Goodwill, Lowe's Foods, and Dollar Tree. No drinking. No bar‑hopping. Nothing even close. On our second visit, Geneva gave us water and let us charge a phone -- and I do appreciate that. But being told "you've been out all day" instead of "welcome back" was unnecessary, inaccurate, and frankly insulting. It was an assumption presented as fact, and it was embarrassing. What made it even more absurd was watching Geneva continue to serve patrons who were clearly intoxicated while I sat there with a glass of water. So here's the takeaway: Don't go in twice in one day. Apparently that alone is enough to get treated like you've been drinking all over town. After this experience, I won't be going in on any day. I hope the staff can handle situations like this with actual communication instead of jumping straight to conclusions.

We pleasantly stumbled across this place, looking for some local brews, while visiting for the…read moreweek. They had a more than ample selection of local brews on tap, and all that we sampled were delish. They had a huge selection of wine and even served wine by the glass. There were a ton of games to play while you sip, which will be on our agenda next time. The bartender couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming to 2 non-locals! Next time we are bringing the rest of the crew!
