I normally don't review upon a first time visit but I had to give two thumbs up to IBCB. Super cool, super chill spot to grab a beer or a glass of wine. They also have kombucha on tap if you are not a drinker. Plenty of options for entertainment such as board games, VYNYL records and in house events- follow their FB page for details. They also have a wonderful selection of beer and wine to go, mostly from local and N.C. brewers which is awesome. Did I mention they even DELIVER? Yep, give them a call and they will bring the party to you! We had amazing and welcoming service when we were there- felt like regulars instead of first timers. Be sure to say "hello" to resident dog Noelle- she's a real sweetie. To sum it up if you want a place with a chill vibe, no one screaming for "shots" and craft wine and beer WITH AC- be sure to check out Island Beverage..a great stop for your pre or post dinner drink at the nearby restaurants as well as a stand alone destination with their events. TIP- parking in this shopping center is a nightmare so feel free to utilize the free valet service by Micheal's- it is offered to all customers of all businesses in the shopping center. read more

Island Beverage - Chillin - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Carolina Beach, North Carolina

For the third time I was nipped at by the manager Geneva. I was a regular spending a hundred bux a week, and I like the owner. But, Im done with assholes, and apparently five grand per year does not mean you cant spill a beer. Yes, I did spill one. Never got credit for one i didnt spill, so i really dont see who is losing here. But, now I wont ever go back and they can get that 25 hundred from some crackead who lives in the woods nearby this winter. I really dont understand people and their attitudes. l read more

I stopped in twice yesterday. The first visit was fine -- nothing memorable, but fine. Geneva was bartending both times. The second visit, however, came with a greeting I've never heard in my fifty‑plus years: "You've been out all day. I can't serve you because I'll be liable if you're over served." I've bartended before. I understand the responsibility. But I was never asked a single question about what I'd actually been doing. For clarity: we had lunch at Michael's Seafood before our first visit. I had one non‑alcoholic seltzer at Island Beverage, and my partner had a four‑flight sampler. After that, we went thrifting and shopping at Goodwill, Lowe's Foods, and Dollar Tree. No drinking. No bar‑hopping. Nothing even close. On our second visit, Geneva gave us water and let us charge a phone -- and I do appreciate that. But being told "you've been out all day" instead of "welcome back" was unnecessary, inaccurate, and frankly insulting. It was an assumption presented as fact, and it was embarrassing. What made it even more absurd was watching Geneva continue to serve patrons who were clearly intoxicated while I sat there with a glass of water. So here's the takeaway: Don't go in twice in one day. Apparently that alone is enough to get treated like you've been drinking all over town. After this experience, I won't be going in on any day. I hope the staff can handle situations like this with actual communication instead of jumping straight to conclusions. read more

We pleasantly stumbled across this place, looking for some local brews, while visiting for the week. They had a more than ample selection of local brews on tap, and all that we sampled were delish. They had a huge selection of wine and even served wine by the glass. There were a ton of games to play while you sip, which will be on our agenda next time. The bartender couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming to 2 non-locals! Next time we are bringing the rest of the crew! read more

Island Beverage - two glasses of beer on a table - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Carolina Beach, North Carolina

Unique, maybe too so. Couldn't find a "regular" beer, not the place for generics. Fits the upper class alternative crowd.

Such a cool place! I've been twice now, both times for specific events and both times was great. The first was a tap takeover they were hosting with local breweries. There was live music set up outside and it was such a great time. The bartenders/owners were so helpful and the customers were great to talk to. The second was their wine 101 tasting, hosted every third Wednesday, I believe. The host was well versed in the wines, and although there was a good amount of people, they were well prepared and the process was just flawless. You have so many options in this local find. Grab a beer from their many taps, check out the coolers for a can or bottle, or grab a glass or bottle of wine. Overall I will definitely return, especially to try their yoga and mimosas Sunday morning! read more

Neat local wine/bottle shop that my friends and I frequented twice during our trip to Carolina Beach. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was nice and super helpful. There's bar seating, several tables and an area with a sofa for seating. Definitely check out this place. I purchased a few bottles of wine and hard ciders to bring home. The bathroom decor was pretty cool as well! read more

The hands down best beer selection on the island! Great selection of Craft beer IPA's and Stouts especially. Always count on a good selection of styles in bottles/cans and on draft with 10 or more taps. The staff(owners) are very friendly and helpful. The last time we were in they had complimentary cheese, crackers etc.. This is where my buddy and I go to stock up for the week or weekend when on Vacation, and to sample a few when there :) If you are in the Carolina Beach area and want good Beer and Wine stop on in. read more

Pretty great selection of wines. Poor selection of beers. Disappointing customer service. I stopped in to grab a bottle of wine and a growler of beer for the holidays. I picked the bottle of wine i wanted and then went to the counter to get the growler and check out. The bartender said I'd be 15 minutes for the growler. "15 minutes?" I asked. "Yeah, I have a bunch of other people to help", she said. "But I"m next in line," I countered. I stared at her quizzically. Unsure as to why pouring beer into a bottle (when I'm the next person to be helped) would take so long. I politely declined to wait and said I'd just get the bottle of wine and be on my way. The bartender seemed *genuinely* surprised that I didn't want to wait on her to wait on everyone else even tho i was next in line. Like, no thanks lady. If you're the owner, that's just not how you do customer service. Big thumbs down. All you gotta do is help the person standing in front of you. So simple. read more

First place we went to once in town. The atmosphere is so inviting fun little games at the tables. Roger was so great and helpful. We asked a lot of questions and he didn't seem to mind much lol. They had snacks you could buy also. The cheese tray with the almonds was pretty tasty. I would definitely recommend & come back once in town. read more

Awesome beer. Fun small entertainment wood games! Love the little dog "Whisky" wandering around! Stop in you won't regret it!

I love this beach town bottle shop! The patrons are friendly, the servers are knowledgeable and smile, there are some amazing regional beers on tap, and the selection of beer & wine for sale is impressive. You can get an awesome bottle of $20 California wine and you can also purchase Caymus, Bubbles or a Chateau Montelegna. Check out FB for events - Island Beverage even hosts a book club. This spot is Dog Friendly. If you love a casual atmosphere and being neighborly, this is the place for you. read more

Island Beverage - Today on draft.... - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Carolina Beach, North Carolina

This is a great stop when you are in Carolina Beach! Good location right over the bridge, east parking, and enormous selection of beer, champagne, wine, and mixers! Sunday's you will find a mimosa bar, so you can mix to your hearts content. There are fresh berries and other fruit to toss in, oj, pineapple juice, blueberry lemonade (the selection is always changing) Draft selections for our local breweries are amazing! Stout's to Gose's! The bottle shop has it all, imports to NC breweries. The atmosphere is casual and warm. Roger was working and had loads of beer knowledge. There are games galore, then there are a couple of puzzles that look simple but are brain busters!!! If you complete one you may win a prize, or serious high fives from the regulars! Today was my first visit here, but far from my last. Right next to Michaels seafood and less than a block from flaming Amy's barn you can make this a great afternoon stop! Or the best place to stop to stock your coolers before hitting the north end for the day!! read more

Had the pleasure of my birthday falling on our vacation and found this place when looking on Yelp for a winery/wine bar. I've seen it every year when we're here but had never stopped in or knew exactly what was sold. This place is great. Small seating area and bar, HUGE craft beer selection which my husband loved and 12 beers on tap as well. Good wine selection and good prices by the glass. Super friendly staff, charging cables and puzzle/games at the tables. Great place to come in and have a drink; I'll definitely be coming back next year on vacation! read more

Really enjoyed this morning at Island Beverage. Sunday mornings before 10 are for yoga!! Then after 10 regular sales and well,.......consumption comense. Met the owner, Robert (although i believe he and his wife are partners so, she's probably the real boss haha) and he makes the visit very welcoming and comfortable. *Warning* if you like hours and hours spent on mind games/puzzles, Island Beverage has you covered. Not a huge store but one that feels just right while you're there! A decadent selection of refridgerated refreshments to rejoice in and around as well as taps ready to fill you or a growler with liquid Joy. I'd like to mention, i noticed several brands and flavors that you normally dont see on a regular basis at other bottle shops. Definitely peak your head in and say hi. Oh, and if you "life" wine, they have you covered there as well, very wide selection! Robert is very knowledgeable about what he serves/sells so, "ask away". Also, i think there was a table set up with snacks and fruit drinks. (*whispering* it all looked free *wink*) i was too interested in the beer. I will definitely be back!!! My only regret......is they aren't closer to Raleigh haha. Awsome place!!!! read more

Very cool place for a beer. Geneva behind the bar is awesome! Relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended in the Carolina Beach area.

THE BEST beer selection on the island, hands down! Not only do they have a great selection of craft beer and wine, but they are interested in learning what styles you enjoy and keep it in mind when stocking up on new varieties. You can always count on a good selection of styles in bottles/cans and on draft. To top it all off, the owners are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. Do yourself a favor and get over there. Cheers! read more

First off the selection is great! Not sure everything is as fresh as possible but not bad at all. I was told Michael's would deliver when I called upon our arrival though the person at Michael's that answered said "no we can't deliver it's spring break we think we are going to get busy" I replied should "I'm in no rush we're only 3 doors down" and was told no so I walked across the street to flamming Amy's F that guy. Anyway island beverage had lots of games and plenty of space. read more

They recently came under new ownership and they've really upped the game in every way! Not only are the new owners fun & awesome folks, you can tell they put a lot of effort into revamping the place. There is lots more seating now, the interior has a welcoming, relaxing, yet sophisticated vibe to it, and there are a few TVs. Some of the new seating comes with charging stations right at the tables, which is very nice. They host great events like out of this world mimosa bars. Most importantly...the wine& beer is cold and there's quite a variety; something for everyone! Definitely add this to your list of places to grab a drink (or several)! read more

This establishment has new ownership, and not that there was anything wrong with the old ownership, but I would like to point that out, because a lot of solid changes have been made. One of the best things about this place is they offer lots of local, Wilmington brewed beer on draft. This means you can sample different breweries, from downtown Wilmington to Wrightsville Beach, without having to leave the island! Also, because they're kind of out of the way for some people in Wilmington, they often have stuff in carry out that you can't find in some of the other bottle shops because of its high demand. read more

Island Beverage is a hidden gem on Pleasure Island! The atmosphere is laid back and fun and the staff is always friendly and willing to give wine and beer recommendations. Their selection is always changing and gives you the chance to try something new - I most recently tried a peach berliner weisse that was perfect after a hot day on the sand. There are tons of thoughtful details throughout, too, which I really appreciate - phone chargers at the high-tops, great game selection, and tabletop bowling and shuffle board. The Sunday mimosa bar is a can't miss! read more
