Cotton candy and coconut soft serve cones
    Shelby L.

Nice little ice cream stop close to the beach. It was a nice treat to stop for on the way back to our Airbnb. My partner got the cotton candy soft serve while I got the coconut. Both were good but I liked the coconut best. Good service as well.

We've been a few times and they're super nice here! Their ice creams, funnel cake, and burgers are pretty good too

Great place to stop for a shaved ice! Lots of flavors! They also have ice cream and funnel cakes, but I didn't have time to try either of those.

Fun Time Ice Cream is a nice spot to grab soft serve, milkshakes, sundaes and much more. We ordered a variation of ice cream from soft serve cones, milkshakes and sundaes. All were good to cool yourself down from a hot day. The staff was friendly and the prices are reasonable for ice cream. Parking is limited but fine if you get there before or after the busy times.

Blue raspberry shaved iced with soft service ice cream $9.42
    Michelle W.

While my shaved ice was amazing I'm not a fan of the bowl it's served in - so I asked for it in a cup with soft serve - my own cream slush, and I'm local, I know things are overpriced touristy - but a 20 oz cup of shaved ice, syrup, and maybe 1/3 cup of ice cream (I wish that I would have weighed in on my food scale when I got home) - either way it was $9.42. That's just a scam. In my opinion, you should offer at least a size selection but than it might be harder to justify $6 price on shaved ice and syrup. I guess my next craving will be tied in a trip to Target and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the machines at sonic are not broken.

    Banana split- yum!

The banana split was delicious and the soft serve is large and comes with a lot of sprinkles. I would skip the brownie sundae though, it was just okay.

    Peach in a cone

Typical soft serve ice cream. I ordered peach in a cone and it was very good- creamy and delicious! It was crowded and the parking lot is rather small. Everyone was on edge about social distancing. We couldn't really eat there, so we ate in the car.

Came here with my family and even though there was a slightly long line, it move very quickly. The ice cream was amazing-nice and creamy and was well enjoyed. Great place to go on a Saturday nice after some pizza!

I was excited that this was right across from our room and we could walk over there in about 3 minutes. I wasnt excited for very long. We got hotdogs and took them back to our room, intending to eat them and go back for shaved ice. We did not like the hotdogs and we never went back to try anything else. I got the hotdogs all the way and paid an extra .25 cents each for cole slaw on each one which is how I always order my hotdogs. I should preface this by saying Yes, I am an adult and Yes, hotdogs are my favorite food. This is my first time ever seeing a place charge for slaw and as it turned out I shouldnt have bothered. Other than the really good, soft bun that seemed like a potato or egg bun the hotdog was inedible, completely disgusting! This was by far the worst slaw I have ever had, it had some weird flavor to it and I have no idea what it was, nothing I have ever tasted before and nothing I want to taste again. We didnt want anything else from there so we never went back. For what they charge, I expect a gourmet or really good hotdog, these were neither. Go to the grocery store get a pack of ball park primes and throw then on the grill. Much better option.

This review involves both Celtic Creamery and DoorDash…read more If you order from Celtic Creamery through DoorDash, be aware. My last two orders had major issues. On 6/4, my order arrived completely melted because the ice cream had leaked through a paper lunch bag after the containers weren't properly closed. I figured "mistakes happen" and let it go. However, my most recent order (6/23) arrived with only one of the three items I paid for ( on a $45+ order). I remember not too long ago when businesses took more ownership of problems like this. I know DoorDash can issue a partial refund, but that isn't really the point. I paid for a service and tonight when something went wrong, everyone just pointed somewhere else. The part I can't get past is that LITERALLY no one could tell me where the rest of my order went. Like, hello?! The driver said there were no additional bags. So I called Celtic Creamery and the guy on the phone said they had tried to tell him there were multiple bags as the dasher left (which I have a hard time believing when the dasher was a 5 star dasher with over 1k ratings.) But if that's true...then where did the other $27 of my order go? What surprised me even more was that NO ONE offered a practical solution. If the missing items were still at the shop, I would have gladly driven over to pick them up. Even something as simple as, "We're sorry. Come pick up the rest of your order, and here's a free scoop or a small gift card for the inconvenience," would have gone a long way toward keeping me as a customer. Instead, the conversation ended with little more than an apology and no real attempt to resolve what happened. A lack of ownership is what lost my business. While DoorDash shares *some* responsibility, these issues have happened with different drivers on multiple orders from Celtic Creamery, which makes me question the store's packaging and order verification process. If a business chooses to offer delivery, orders should be packaged securely and verified before they leave the store--especially when signature desserts cost $12 or more a piece. The ice cream itself is good. Our first order was excellent, which makes these last two experiences even more disappointing. Unfortunately, repeated problems with missing items, melted deliveries, and a lack of accountability mean I won't be ordering from Celtic Creamery again.

"Outstanding ice cream and wide variety on Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach"…read more We came here on a Thursday afternoon, and WOW, we were impressed. I'm lactose intolerant, and first thing I saw was a selection of about 8 vegan options, only one of which was a sorbet, as well as an ad for vegan whipped cream. The restaurant was bright and airy and had both indoor seating as well as some seating just outside. The staff were super friendly, and they let me try a large number of options before picking. I ended up going with coconut lime vegan ice cream, very much like key lime pie. My girlfriend got the birthday cake flavored vegan ice cream. Mine was also delicious-- it had nice pieces of coconut in it, adding extra texture, and MAN was it tasty. My girlfriend's was also super yummy- tasted to me a lot like regular birthday cake ice cream. I confess I Google'd right away to see if this store had a branch near where I live so I could frequent it, but alas, the chain is only here in the Wilmington area. So far. Definitely worth a try-- highly recommend!

We visited this location on a recent visit on a Friday night. It was very busy for February, but…read morethe adjacent restaurants were busy too. Many people were in the mood for ice cream, it seems. This is a relatively new location in a new apartment complex in Carolina Beach. The shop is bright, clean, and the staff is friendly. They have a large amount of ice cream flavors, and a selection of vegan ice cream, as well. Lots of cup sizes and cones to choose from, you will find something you like. We tried the double cookies and cream (very unique I haven't seen this flavor anywhere before) which looked like light chocolate ice cream with cookies, and a cannoli with hot fudge topping. We both got small cups, which are 2 scoops. It is very rich, and more than enough for us. I will definitely recommend Boombalatti's Carolina Beach. It is in a great location on the way to or from the beaches, and fairly priced for the size and quality you get.

No frills, old school cash registers, cash only, but holy @#$% do they make an exceptional one! The prices are legit. Buck twenty five for one, $7 for half a dozen, and $13 for a dozen. We ordered half a dozen and when we got home we were pleasantly surprised to have 8 in the bag. Was this an error? I doubt it. Was it because of the wait? Highly doubt that again since there's always a wait. And $7 for 8 of these bad boys is a steal. And now for the actual donut... They are hand made so you get all different shapes and sizes. These puppies are pulled fresh from the fryer and served piping hot. They're covered in glaze, but not the kind that is thick and just sticks on top. It melts into every nook and cranny of the dough becoming a part of it. That first bite is warm buttery and sweet. You get the outer crisp and the softer delicate inner taste all at once. No frills, no toppings, no tricks, nothing. Just pure perfection. If you're in the area this is a must stop bucket list type of place. Don't worry about the line or the wait, it's worth it.
