Unique donut shop located in a shopping center near the beach. They had a ton of donut choices on their massive chalkboard menu and had a display showing off the different donuts as well. Everything looked delicious, but I settled on the glazed croissant and the couch potato donut. The glazed croissant is a must order! It's the best of both breakfast worlds - a croissant with glazed donut frosting. The couch potato donut was a great mixture of sweet from the frosting and salty with the chips. Service was wonderful too! There was only one employee working the cash register, but when the line was getting longer, an employee that was folding boxes stopped what he was doing to jump in and help. We noticed this donut and coffee shop while camping at the state park. We stopped in to grab a cuppa coffee and was wild by the donut selection. I got a Boston cream filled croissant, which was absolutely amazing. We also got a regular glazed doughnut and they had a special where they were giving away free chocolate cake, donuts. The caramel macchiato was also great. The young man who waited on us had amazing customer service and was super helpful and nice. There's space to sit at a donut bar and a few tables. They have lots and lots of merch available for purchase. The place was also decorated for Halloween, which was kind of fun. I would highly recommend stopping here. read more

I visited Wake N Bake Donuts on a Friday afternoon around 5 pm. Many varieties were sold out. We had about 12 different donuts to choose from. Several that we chose were: Boston Cream, chocolate iced, one with a coffee icing, and white iced with cereal on top. I am accustomed to Krispy Kreme and in comparing these donuts to Krispy Kreme... they fall short. In my opinion, the donuts were not as fresh, as I had hoped for. I've had donuts several days old that tasted fresher to me. Service was good. We were waited on promptly. This is a cute little donut shop in the Food Lion shopping center. My advice to you, is to go early in day so you'll have lots of choices and fresher donuts! read more

Everyone always says Brits is a must try when in Carolina Beach and they are right but don't skip Wake N Bake either! Brits is great for your classic glazed and Wake N Bake had the wacky fun flavors. This shop was amazing. I love places like Donut World, Duck Donuts... etc. to compare this to a Krispy Kreme is a crime. We got here around 10AM this morning and there was already a line practically out the door and they'd run out of some flavors already. But that's what you can expect when the donuts are as creative and as delicious as this place does them. I'm not a pumpkin pie fan but they had a slice of pumpkin pie encased in donut... tell me where else you'd find something like this. The day prior, we got coffee drinks that were delicious. You can tell they put care into what they do. There was a staff member there that seemed to be getting trained while the cashier was doing what he could to help customers. You just have to be patient and realize the wait is so worth it. The price is also well worth it and I think complaining about it is coming from people who are used to buying plain Jane donuts. But again, their prices are based on quality and boy do they deliver. The vibe of the shop is very chill and laid back. All the staff were friendly and doing their absolute best to keep up with the line of customers. Will definitely be a staple for us when we visit Carolina Beach again. read more

I was told to come here by a friend who heard I would be traveling to the area. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, however I love sugary cereals and when I saw a fruity pebble donut a I had to try. I am SO glad I did. The cereal wasn't soggy (as it would be in a real bowl of cereal) and the donut it's self was perfect. The icing tasted like the milk that's had fruity pebbles in it. It was glorious! I came the next morning and got the froot loop one. Also so good but the fruity pebble one was better. I will continue to come here when I visit Carolina Beach. I had a donut here after dining at Kay's Pancake House for breakfast yesterday on Friday, November 3rd, 2023. I ordered one pumpkin cheesecake donut. It was a cheesecake filled standard donut with pumpkin flavored icing. It was okay. I thought it was better than the donuts at Dunkin, but I don't think they make such good donuts. I actually prefer the pumpkin cake donuts at Krispy Kreme. I also had better donuts at local bakeries in the Detroit area (Avon Donuts in Pontiac & Donut Factory in Warren). While it was not a total flop, it's no Britt's if you're comparing glazed donut to glazed donut (the only thing Britt's sells) - let's just get that out of the way. Absolutely no comparison there. However, Wake N Bake does make up for that in the different flavors it offers (a la try to put different things on top of your donut to make it unique). I also thought their old fashioned donut was a solid one - very moist, dense, and flavorful. But I'm a plain glazed yeast donut guy, and so I'll definitely still be going to Britt's whenever I'm in Carolina Beach. read more

You ever had a donut with chocolate frosting that just tastes sweet and nothing else? Not here! Wake N Bake is a Gem! Every time I go to Wilmington I make a point to stop at this place or the one on Princess street in downtown Wilmington. They have the coolest and most social media pretty donuts! My personal favorite it the Twisted Turtle. I also really like their cinnamon latte with almond milk. How can you not love a donut shop like this? I felt like I was in Canada Except for the staff, All American lads that left me feeling like they loved their job. I havent been down to Carolina Beach in 10 years and when I asked for new places to try this place was recommended. We stopped on our way in and got 6 but between four adults those didnt last long so on our way out we stopped and got a dozen to bring home, luckily I am just over the state line so we didnt have far to go. I dont care what you think or what you have had before, forget all of that and go here as quickly as you can. Don't dilly dally, just go, leave work if you have too! Trust me, I would not lie about doughnuts! I actually wouldn't lie to ya about anything but thats not why we are here. Lol I love peanut butter and Reese cups but I hate anything else peanut butter but dayumn, that PB Get Bizzy was freakin fantastuc! I tried about 8 flavors and of all the ones we tried my new favorite and my new obsession ended up being the Carolina Sand. It is maple with cinnamon on top. It sounds gross as heck but sweet baby jesus, it was heavenly! I am a maple kinda girl to begin with, I will always choose maple and this was hands down the best maple I have ever had my whole life! I was soooo excited to try their vegan donuts. The space had fun decor, a relaxed vibe and of course smelled amazing. Unfortunately, for me they didn't live up to the hype. Their "regular" donuts looked amazing! However, their vegan donuts looked basic and measly compared to their robust, whimsical creations for those that can handle the eggs and dairy. I got one of each that was offered. Chocolate frosted, glazed, maple cinnamon and espresso frosted. The flavors were all there when it comes to the frosted donuts which is a nice surprise because a lot of vegan donuts just taste "sweet" no matter what flavor they're supposed to be. However, there wasn't enough glaze on the glazed donut and the donuts themselves had a somewhat spongy quality to them. Cute place at Carolina Beach. We went here for breakfast because we stayed at the Carolina Beach State Park, and it was literally around the corner. Fun atmosphere, super nice staff - very helpful, and lots of interesting donut choices! The hubs and I walked away with a cookies & cream donut, a chocolate frosted donut and a blueberry fritter. Along with a caramel macchiato and an iced chai tea latte. Our beverages tasted very good! Disclaimer; we are donut snobs. The hubs even worked at an amazing donut shop for a short time many years ago. The best was the chocolate frosted. Very good!!! The cookies & cream was also super tasty. Unfortunately the blueberry fritter was very overworked and lacked blueberry flavor. Sadly, the hubs could taste that the oil in the fryer is right at the end ... so everything had a little bit of that flavor for him.
