Went here previously and liked it. Great location and vibe. I really want to love it and be a regular! But today, my iced mocha with light ice and almond milk was more like sweet water, I could not taste the coffee or the chocolate much at all. Too much milk not enough coffee or mocha, and all their drinks would benefit from a more substantial ice form that does not melt right away. Also, the Rise and Shine sandwich was ok, but the mustard should come on it, or ask when ordering, because it came plain and was bland. No way to spread the mustard was in the box. The bacon was two very thin, under done flimsy pieces which need to be more substantial, and more on the crispy side in order to add to the taste. I wish I'd taken photos but did not. read more

The espresso at this place is top-notch. If you like the taste of espresso, just know that every shot they pull is smooth and strong. I've been here a couple times and love the location. We came back to Malama twice on our vacation this week. The first time we had açaí bowls - both were excellent! The second time we had lattes and breakfast, one breakfast sandwich and a breakfast burrito (with sweet potatoes and beans in place of meat). The lattes were very good, and I love that they will put them in the ceramic mugs upon request. My husband enjoyed his breakfast sandwich, and I liked the burrito. The sweet potatoes were a little less cooked than my personal preference but overall it was a very hearty and healthy breakfast. read more

We chose Malama because of the dietary options (diary allergy). It was nice to have a variety of dairy free options without feeling like we were missing out on enjoying the full menu. We stopped by Malama to pick up some iced coffees on the way to the beach. Our barista was friendly, and our drinks came out quickly. We ordered an Iced Strawberry Latte and a Marshmallow Cream Coldie (a seasonal drink). The Strawberry Latte was completely watered down. We could barely taste any espresso, so the drink unfortunately just tasted like sweet water. For the coldie, the cold brew/coffee itself wasn't very good but the marshmallow foam on top was unique and pretty decent. We love malama cafe - it's been a great addition to CB. Healthy, delicious and the staff is always so friendly! Great coffee and always something creative on the coffee menu. Food is delicious. It gets busy so you may have trouble getting a table if you're eating there depending on the time. We go every year when we are in town. The kids call it the Mama Lama Cafe and ask for their acai bowls every time! "Their Nutella is extra delicious, Mommy!" Is what I was informed after our last visit. read more

Tried out this new cafe today, about 3:30pm on a Thursday. It's located right next to Fork n Cork, by the boardwalk. There are parking meters right in front of the cafe and there were a few parking spaces available at the time I arrived. At the front door, they have a sanitizing dispenser on the wall and a table with disposable masks. The staff were not wearing masks though, so guess these masks were for the public. I was already wearing a mask so no one said anything to me. Inside was cute, a clean minimalistic feel. Concept of this cafe is to provide healthy options. They offer coffee, smoothies, toast, sandwiches/wraps, to-go veggie sticks and salads, as well as snack bars, chips, packaged date and cashew bites and oatmeal cacao bites. The sandwiches are usually on croissants but they ran out for the day. They had multigrain bread to use instead for the sandwiches. They also have different beverages, including bottled kombucha and kombucha on tap. The kombucha on tap during my visit was Grapefruit and bee pollen from Florida. The smoothie offerings were Malatte, Orange turmeric and Very berry. There is only one size of smoothies come in, about a 24 oz cup. Malatte contains 2 shots Expresso, oat milk, banana, and cocoa. Orange turmeric, which has orange juice, fresh mango, turmeric, banana, almond milk, honey, and ginger. Very berry contains banana and mixed berries (raspberries, strawberries..). I was interested in trying the Malatte but I didn't want to stay awake for the whole night so I went with Orange turmeric. I liked it because it wasn't very sweet and it was refreshing. They offered to adjust the drink if I wasn't happy with it. It wasn't pulpy and there wasn't a strong ginger flavor. The smoothie had a good balance/ratio of mango and banana. I also tried the Malama toast, which came with small halved fresh heirloom tomatoes, edamame, smashed avocado, and untoasted black and white sesame seeds ($7.50) on a piece of multigrain bread. There was an option to add a fried or hard-boiled egg for an additional $2. I thought it tasted okay, good for a very healthy snack. I would have preferred a bit more avocado. Don't wait too long to eat it, otherwise it will get soggy. Thought the smoothie and toast were kind of expensive (total bill was $16.05), but it is on the island, so to be expected. The staff and owner were friendly and welcoming. Definitely want to try the Malatte next time but only if I can come in the morning time. read more

This is such a great hidden gem! Glad we all dropped by for a healthy and quick brunch. I ordered the buddah bowl and added chicken and for a drink a hurricane smoothie and that was so delicious!! It's a great portion and great price ! Also got to try the burrito and that was also a great dish. It was a great place to get some quick food with a great atmosphere and lovely workers. The only con I saw was it can't accommodate a larger group inside but there are lots more tables outside and they are dog friendly I believe there was a dog bowl outside and I thought that was adorable.
