Frozen grapes. Was given after the meal.
    Nicole S.

Came in just after 2 pm and there was nobody else in the restaurant. The interior was clean and little bit of Japanese decor. Was greeted right away and told we could sit anywhere so we did. Waitress was friendly and was willing to help if needed with menu. Since I or my guest never been to this restaurant before it took a bit to decide what to order. The waitress was fine with us taking our time, never felt rushed to place our order. We ordered to start tako yaki ( octopus dumplings) I found the batter sweet but not overpowering, and not over cooked. The filling was fine, my only complaint was just a little tiny octopus meat was found in each dumplings. Both myself and company ordered the sushi lunch combo . No real complaints only wish the salad and soup was a bit larger portion size. The tobiko came few mins after we got our lunch combo. I haven't had this in a long time. My other companion hadn't tried it before , I enjoyed but it wasn't my guest thing. They have a small section of the menu for kids meals which is great. Also lots of vegetarian options as well. Really want to try the dessert but sadly I was full , was told by waitress it a big seller.

We visit Fairmont every year and can't wait to get to Fubuki Sushi! I grew up in Vancouver, so I know good Japanese food;) This place is small, but very clean and modern. I always have the Chicken Katsu, and am always impressed...they give you TONS of crispy fried chicken, on a bed of rice with some shredded cabbage ect underneath. This comes with soup or salad. i had the miso soup which was excellent! Today we also tried the Yam-nuska roll and it was great. My husband had the same, and my kids shared a chicken teriyaki bowl that also looked good. I love how 'kid friendly' this restaurant is. They don't offer colouring sheets or any activities for the kids (mine are 3 & 4) but they will happily split a meal into two separate plates for the kids. (They also put the soup into two bowls) I know this sounds unimportant, but it makes it much easier for me as a mother ;) I highly recommend eating at Fubuki Sushi!

    Udon and tempura lunch special!

Surprisingly good, authentic Japanese food! We had the udon with tempura ($14), salmon skin roll ($6.50) and mega lunch box ($16) for lunch in Feb 2013. Place starts filling up with locals around 11:45 but this sure beats the Subway, 2 for 1 pizza or Dairy Queen also right in the area. As I said, food was good and authentic!

It's okay sushi and sashimi especially in small town like Radium or Invermere. Service was well presented and portion of food were good.

This has to be the best sushi I've ever had - unique and varied choices, fresh ingredients, and aesthetically appealing.

*Late review* Came here at the ending of last year…read more Walking around the Banff town and heard good things about this place on social media and we saw the line was long outside so maybe there was some hype? The inside is very small and everyone sits around the conveyor belt. It is first come first serve so plan ahead if you wanna beat the lunch/dinner rushes. We went around 1:30 and it took us maybe ~40 minutes to get seated for a party of six (we didn't want to be separated). There is a sushi chef in the middle who makes the sushi right in front of you which is pretty entertaining. As for ordering, you can either ask the chef or your server. They are always putting different things on the conveyor belt so there is always an assortment of sushi to try. We weren't a fan of the sashimi but we did order a lot of the rolls. Their spicy ahi is different from what we're used to - it's just plain ahi with a drop of sriracha on top. Our favorite roll was probably the deep fried shrimp roll and California roll. You can't go wrong with that. We ordered the seaweed salad and potato croquette a couple of times. Price wise it's pretty expensive for the amount and quality that you get. All the food on the menu ranges from about $4.95-$7.95. IMO you're paying for the experience - sushi chef in front of you, conveyor belt, plates on a sushi train. There is one server for the restaurant because the seating area is so small, but the staff in general is pleasant. It's OK but hits the spot if you want a little sushi fix.

You won't find an extensive menu with lots of fancy rolls, but you can get some delicious salmon, yellowtail, or tuna. They also make shrimp tempura rolls, California rolls, and desserts. My favorite was the atomic mayo tuna, so good! My husband enjoyed the scallop. The staff here is so friendly. It's a tiny spot, so depending on when you go you might have to wait. If you are craving sushi this a great place to grab a quick bite!

Lets get to the food shall we * Karaage - Texture is on point. Crisp is nice and light. Lemon compliments the chicken pieces. 8.7/10   * Takoyaki - The temperature is super correct. It has to be below molten lava levels. The flavors are good to go. 9/10   * Shoyu Ramen (Ramen of the Day) - let's get the egg out of the way. Its a little overdone. I was excited to try Shoku Izakaya after a waitress recommended this spot to us from when we were…read moredining at Sky Bistro the day prior. The place was pretty busy when we arrived for dinner. Things we tried: - Agedashi Tofu: fried tofu with a warm dashi. It was light and the dashi had nice flavor. (3.5/5 stars) - Karaage Chicken: the chicken was tender and well-seasoned. (3.5/5 stars) - Edamame: the edamame arrived at the end of our meal which was odd. It was also not cooked well and tasted like it could have been frozen and then warmed up. Disappointing. (1/5 stars) - Shoku Roll: the roll was pretty good with the salmon on top and negitoro inside. I wish they used less of the sauce and mayo on top or put it on the side instead, because it was a lot and was overpowering the fish. (4/5 stars) - Salmon Oyako Bowl: I liked the raw salmon and salmon roe part, however the cooked salmon was overcooked. The bowl also lacked flavor and required soy sauce, though I wish there was a different sauce to add to it. (4/5 stars) Overall for the food, it's okay. I'm from California so we have better food so I'm trying not to be too critical knowing it's in Banff. It's nice to have an izakaya spot in downtown Banff though. Service: mixed. The waiter was nice, however they seemed under-staffed. He had too many tables so service was slow and we struggled with flagging him down when we needed a refill or the check.

There were little reserved placards on all of the tables even though we showed up less than half an hour after they opened so we were nervous about being able to get a table without a wait, but our server simply removed one of the placards and offered us that table. My boyfriend got the bacon and tomato two eggs benedict and I got the omurice. He got the matcha latte and I got the matcha milk tea with boba. Portions were generous for breakfast. The omurice was very much a thoroughly cooked omelette over rice and not the runny type that first popularized the dish on social media, but it was tasty nonetheless. The matcha had a healthy green color to it and a very pleasant taste, and even though it was one of the pricier breakfast experiences we had on our trip it was very much a unique one that we didn't expect to find on our visit to Canada. Our server was very attentive with refilling our waters and knowledgable about the menu when we asked for recommendations. I would totally recommend Wagashi Tea House to anyone looking for authentic Japanese hospitality and food crafted with high-quality ingredients and great attention to detail.

Karaoke rooms available for large groups with high minimum spends. However, when it comes to the food, I've got issues. The happy hour menu boasts several discounted (half price) sushi rolls, which sound great. However, in execution, they are flooded with mayonnaise (not included in the menu's ingredients). This adds so much extra salt and oil to the sushi that it drowns out the true flavor of the fish. For the first time in my life, I couldn't finish my sushi, and I had no desire to eat any leftovers. Also, reservations are not required, but they definitely help (and require a credit card reservation). If you show up for happy hour, get there early, becasue the space fills up fast!
