Was hoping to get there early enough for their early dinner special which looks like a fantastic deal but forgot Golden is on MST so our arrival was actually an hour later than we thought. Started with the sticky ribs which were good but not fall off the bone tender. Also having it served with tortilla chips was weird bc there's nothing to dip the tortilla chips in. Got the sirloin steak with seasonal veggies, mashed potatoes and garlic sauce. There was a sweetness to the sauce which I found interesting. The steak was cooked well and tender. My friend got the cannelloni which was filled with veggies, sausage and cheese. It was served piping hot and he enjoyed his dish as well. We would return

Came across this restaurant and decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did! Their first hour they have meal deals which were really worth it! The restaurant was really fancy looking much more than I expected. We ordered: 1. Pork Kim Chi Pot stickers: These were just okay. Kind of tasted like it was from a package and just boiled and headed up to serve and not as much hand made there. 2. The dragon plate over pasta: Holy crap this was SOOOO GOOD! The waitress was so amazing and recommended we get the dragon plate over something instead like pasta because it soaks up the sauce better and she was so right! The sauce was amazing I wish I had bread to soak it up. There was so much seafood and it was so fresh. The quality of the seafood was also amazing. 3. House daily pasta with chicken: Super good and perfectly good chicken. The sauce was also amazing with this. My wife ordered this so she ate most of it but I liked it a lot. 4. Cookies and cream cheese cake: Exactly as you'd expect it to taste. Rich cheesecake and nice crunches from the oreo. Overall, we had such a great experience here. It was easily the best thing we ate on our banff trip. The waitress was sooooo nice and gave us such excellent recommendations. We were so lucky to have randomly come across this place on Yelp and that they opened right when we got there. This is a must try restaurant.

The pizza is thinner crust, good yeasty flavour and chew. Ask for Parmesan and it'll fill out the flavours on your pizza. Fish n chips are beer battered, with the same fries you'd find at Costco. Not gourmet/high end. But if you've just rolled in after 8hrs of driving with the hangries, it's good enough!

tldr; EVERYTHING…read moreABOUT THIS RESTAURANT IS CHEAP EXCEPT FOR THE PRICES. Servers know NOTHING about the menu and are all but absent from the front of house Chef can't season a meal to save his life ZERO attention to detail ------------------------ I can't begin to describe how awful this restaurant is, but let me try. I took my wife to Radium for our anniversary, and I asked the hotel concierge to make romantic dinner reservations for us. The package I bought also included a complimentary breakfast, so the idea was to eat at this establishment twice (BIG mistake). When we got to the restaurant, there was no servers on the floor, and no hostess at the front desk. They had been open all day, and the place was empty.. I suppose this should have been our first hint. We seated ourselves, and when the server finally arrived, she brought us waters in the ancient plastic cups. This would probably be OK if we were at Smitty's, but we were not, we were supposedly eating "Fine Italian Cuisine". Every time the server came to the table (drinks, orders, etc), we inevitably had questions about the meals... she had NO answers, and had to ask the chef about everything. Also, many items that we wanted to eat (Items that WERE on the menu), were unavailable, and we had to make alternate decisions (this should have been our second hint). When the complementary bread arrived, we were given re-heated rolls and plastic single-use butter containers instead of a nice whipped butter dish. With the bread, we ordered some calamari, and when it arrived, it was terribly undercooked and quite disgusting. Dinner arrives and out comes my wife's $32, 8oz, medium rare steak... it was well done, completely unseasoned, and dry as chalk. WHO PAYS $32 FOR CHALK??? My chicken was average, I ate it and paid for it, but we sent the steak back. We went back the next morning for breakfast, simply because I had the voucher and it was free... well not quite free. The concierge told me that it was a complementary breakfast, but gave me a $25 voucher... this voucher will NEVER cover a breakfast for two when you're charging $3 for a coffee and an average of $10 / plate. ANYWAYS, against my better judgement we went for breakfast, and again, everything my wife asked for was UNAVAILABLE... at this point she was DONE. No more eating, just get out of her face. I chose to try the soft basted eggs, toast, hash browns, and bacon. The hash browns were completely unseasoned (just like the steak from the night before), and the eggs were like slime... I actually gagged a little when I saw them. Now I have NEVER sent a meal back in a restaurant, so sending my wife's steak one night and my eggs the next morning was very out of the ordinary for me. In conclusion, this is the last restaurant on the planet that I would recommend you eat at. In fact, our server from the first night even suggested that we eat elsewhere...

We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA

Our server seemed a bit hurried. She was out of breath and not super friendly. They have a wide variety of options on the menu. We decided on the Cordon Bleu schnitzel with chicken instead of pork ($3 upgrade), jagerspatzle and a cup of their mushroom soup. The food was delicious! The chicken Cordon Bleu was the overall hit. My husband really enjoyed the Dunkel beer. I ordered the chocolate mousse, but was disappointed as it tasted like a Jello pudding mix chocolate. Not the rich dark chocolate mousse I'm used to. Overall a nice experience. The music playing in the restaurant was a German song on repeat! It played the entire time we were there...yikes! I politely recommend they get an entire album with a variety of songs. I loved the German themed music, but one song playing over and over again was annoying.

Two members of our group ordered the chicken Alfredo, and both dishes arrived with little to no Alfredo sauce. They both agreed it tasted terrible. I started with the prawn appetizer, which included four prawns that were decent, but the rest of the dish lacked flavor and wasn't enjoyable. For my main course, I ordered the Steak Neptune and requested it cooked medium rare. It arrived medium instead. While the steak itself tasted good, it was more done than I had asked for. My son ordered the chicken parmigiana and said it tasted like it had been microwaved--it was hot in some spots, cold in others, and overall just mediocre. Another member of our group ordered a medium-well steak but received it well done. She said it was okay, but not what she ordered. The remaining steaks ordered medium also arrived well done, so there seemed to be a consistent issue with the kitchen getting steak temperatures right. Service from our waitress was the highlight of the evening. She was friendly, attentive, and did a great job despite the problems coming from the kitchen. Unfortunately, the wait time was also unacceptable. It took about an hour for our meals to arrive after we placed our order, which is far too long. The atmosphere also didn't live up to expectations. It felt more like an inexpensive family restaurant than the higher-end dining experience the restaurant appears to market itself as. Overall, this was a very disappointing meal, especially for a family celebration. Between the long wait, inconsistent cooking, and poor quality of several dishes, I won't be returning. There are many better restaurants in the area that offer better food, better value, and a much more enjoyable dining experience.

Last year when we came I had ordered the same Schnitzel but it came with a bearnaise sauce and I didn't enjoy it because of the taste. So this year on Wednesday May 20th I had asked the waitress if I could have a different gravy (should have said sauce). I was told that they didn't have that. When I said they used to she informed me it has NEVER come with that type of sauce. To me it felt like she was arguing the point with me. She then said do you want another server and I said no that's fine. She walked away and a short time later another waitress (Grace) came to serve us. The first waitress obviously didn't want to serve me and I felt this very insulting. I then ordered the Special which was the meatloaf, which had the type of sauce (gravy) I was asking for. Which was very delicious. If it wasn't for the very pleasant young girl who met and seated us at our table and Grace, the experience was very unpleasant and upsetting to a point that I was not going to come back.
