We originally went to Rockwater Grill & Bar two doors down, but were aggravated by the amount of noise there + lack of ambiance, so we decided to dine here -- oh, what a breath of fresh air as ambiance here is quiet, classy even. We began with the vegan spinach dip, which was made of cashews, spinach, artichoke, miso, vegan mozarella + tortilla chips. This was DELICIOUS. You forget that it's even vegan as it packed so much flavor! We were, however, disappointed that the chips were store-bought. For $24.75 CAD, you'd think it'd be housemade corn tortilla chips. Definitely overpriced for an appetizer. We also had the poutine (beef gravy), because when in Canada. This Quebecois dish is delicious when made right. Though the gravy here was flavorful, we found most of the fries soggy and the cheese curds could have been squeakier. We rate this 7/10. We ordered the Bistro Burger -- solid, tasty, and a small order of the La Brea Salad, which was made of arugula, pomegranate, roasted heirloom carrots, toasted pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, dill sour cream + house vinagrette. It was large for a "small," and was perfect to share. Though presentation was nice, the house vinaigrette was too thick and heavy-handed. Also, the dill sour cream did nothing to enhance the dish as it lacked flavor. For drinks, we ordered the Bow + Arrow cocktail -- mezcal, bourbon, pineapple, lime + mint, as well as Icefields Pale Ale by local Whitetooth Brewing Co. right here in Golden. The Pale Ale was quite good. The Bow + Arrow cocktail, however, tasted like a pineapple margarita. It wasn't bad, but we certainly did not taste any mezcal and we'd been to Oaxaca, Mexico 5X where we fell in love with mezcal there. It could have used a stronger or smokier mezcal + some garnish would have been more eye-catching. Service was prompt. Not super friendly or conversational, but efficient. read more

Sister in-law had the seafood chowder,,, almost regretted getting the chicken burger because the chowder was amazing. All so good. Salad was fresh, like all of it was crisp and delicious. Great food! The quinoa salad - I added salmon - it was THE BEST QUINOA SALAD I have ever had - dressing was not overwhelming and quinoa was perfectly cooked (not dry and over done). One kid had tenderloin and it was perfectly cooked medium rare and other kid had NY striploin and it was perfectly cooked medium rare as well. My husband had Cesar salad with chicken as they were out of seafood chowder. Wine list has great BC wines and I had their Pinot noir and it was great! Highly recommend - being big spray for ankles if you sit on patio late night just a heads up - we will definitely be back! It's generally not a good start when the first three things you ask about on the menu are not available. I chose this restaurant bc it had a nice wine list featuring local white wines. Only one of several was actually available. Fortunately they have a very good beer selection. When I asked about the clams on the menu, they were not available either. I settled for the arugula and roasted carrot salad. It was okay, but nothing special. The presentation was terrible - huge whole carrots with the stem end still on. It would have taken no effort to cut the ends off and slice the carrots into smaller pieces. The ratio of carrot to salad was way off. My husband had the duck. We ordered the special of the night which was a seafood pasta dish. After a very generous house salad ( enough for two to split), the pasta dishes arrived. The flavor was great, but it was overwhelmed by the number of sliced jalapeños mixed in. I had quite a pile as I started picking them out to reduce their impact to the dish. I think that it could have been really good had the jalapeño not overtaken the dish. I would definitely try this place again and give a second chance as it has everything else working for it. This place is a gem in the town of Golden BC. The food was great and they had plenty of patio seating that was distanced, making it a great option during COVID. My friend and I split the burger and broccoli salad because having balance is important! We obviously had to pair the burger with poutine, which was incredibly satisfying after a long day of hiking. And at the end, it took the waiter 10min to give us the card machine to pay the check (and the card machine is right on the water station) food looks so pretty but they are definitely not worth of the money. Pork chop is dry, wild mushroom is too salty, steak has no taste! Good presentation, but the food is a bit overpriced and underwhelming. We had the scallops appetizer and pork shank and steak entrées. The scallops dish was only two scallops on the plate. The waiter did mention it was a small appetizer but I thought it would be at least 4 scallops of this size. The scallops were way too salty. The five spice pork shank was our favorite thing that we ordered, it was cooked beautifully until it was falling apart. The seasoning was good, but the accompanying charcoal infused gnocchi could have been better. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium but it was overcooked and too tough. read more

Went here for our first dinner in town. There was very few people inside so we thought maybe we had made a mistake. However, it was very good meal. We started with mussels and a Caesar salad. My father got the steak salad. I got the market pasta and my husband got the burger. My pasta was good but a tad heavy for summer. I got the Pom Punch and it was very good. The waitress was friendly. We finished the meal with the crème brulee. The interior of the place is nice. They have outside seating as well. The only thing is the entire meal took about two hours. Extremely slow getting the food out. The time between the entrees and the desert was close to 40 minutes. If back in the area we would eat here again. I would order something lighter. read more

I honestly could say their pecan & panko encrusted yam burger is in my top 5 vegan burgers of ALL TIME (out of Toronto, NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, etc.). The chickpea shepherd's pie is super savory and delicious. They even have a vegan dessert option!!! The vegan chocolate pumpkin tart is fantastic - maximum flavor without overbearing sweetness. I came here for lunch while I was passing through Golden. It was a beautiful day so we sat on their rooftop patio. It was a great ambiance and had nice views! Passing through after a week of camping and hunting for some gluten free REAL food. All I could see was fast food and a belly ache. This little gem popped up and I headed the 5 minutes off the highway to find it nestled in amongst a street full of cute shops. The patio was full. First of all, if you are going to get anything out of this review, just know that this Whitetooth location also has a ROOF TOP PATIO overlooking the river!!! On top of all the awesome view, you can also sit next to your personal fire pit!!! Our group of 4 ordered the smoked pork chop which was absolutely scrumptious and the chiopinni which is like a spicy fish dish with gravy over rice. The fish is good but not as good as the pork chop. Just know that to get to the rooftop, you need to walk in the restaurant next door (weird, I know) walk all the way back out to the patio and you will see a set of stairs on your left leading to the roof top patio (which belongs to whitetooth). Definitely recommend this place if you are in the Golden area. Can't wait to be back! read more
