That a still partially frozen dessert (that's supposed to be at least warm) would be served is enough for me to not go back. In addition, the cake was dry and not flavorful. If you are trapped down on trans Canada and wondering what to eat beside Boston pizza or McDonald's finish your checkin and head up to the kicking horse ski resort. It's just 15 minutes from downtown golden and a completely different world. It's in a nice chalet in the basement and the word here is steak. We loved our server. She was great and recommend some awesome local wines. We love the merlot and the gamay noir. The steaks here are awesome. We got here and loved the bison ribeye it was really flavorful and perfectly medium rare but the highlight was the veal special double chop. Wow tender and flavorful and juicy. They were also super accommodating about allergies. And the blackberry and passion fruit sorbet was amazing. After You are done take a stroll around and enjoy the sunset here ;-)

A bar sits close to the dining area. The dining area is cozy, with 4 tables for four, and two tables for two by the windows, under the TVs. By the way, bull riding was on the other TV. Music was bluesy. If you prefer eating outside, there are 3 picnic tables. I think we were sitting in the bar area as we saw a larger dining area on the other side of the bar, but we were comfortable where we were. The bathrooms are in the back, near the pool & hot tub for the attached hotel. It is your basic women's room - 2 stalls, 2 sinks, soap and paper towels. We were only in town for one night, so we could not return. If you live in Golden, or are coming to Golden, and you have a desire to eat BBQ, eat here. You'll enjoy a good meal, reasonably priced, with friendly service.

We started asking our server what we should do for the day, he's the one who suggested the hike, he also told us that if we buy a specific pass we can go up 7700 feet hike the mountain AND visit the grizzly bear refuge and meet Boo the bear. He gave us a story of Boo and then told us to have a drink at the restaurant on the mountain which is the highest restaurant in Canada. Our entire day was set by that meal. They were very crispy, not too oily, and perfectly seasoned. Overall, this was pretty solid. Even at our cabin in Golden we have a ton of bug pressure so I kind of cut this place some slack, the restaurant itself was otherwise clean but I understand this might bother other people too much. If you're looking to switch up your brunch rotation I would at least consider this place.

They make great pastas, garlic bread, and burgers. The prices are reasonable. The one downside is that the service is sometimes slow, so make sure you're not in a hurry if you go check them out.
